When music is recorded and played back the stream of numbers is converted back into an analogue wave using a digital-to-analogue converter. Advantages-Since it is in binary form the computer can process the data and data can be manipulated easily using software such as audacity. (edit pitch , tempo add effects to audio files).-saves time as it speed up the editing process, before in the 60s there we hardly any sequels because the production process of films were labour intensive, before modern technology films had to be edited by manually cutting the reel of the movie and cluing them together using splicing tape.Historical information can be stored and preserved for a long time and is less likely to be damaged or lost (back ups).
In the past creating media products involved big expensive equipment and a big broadcasting company to distribute. However today media products can be produced using smaller and cheaper devices such as mobile phones and shared online onto social websites such as YouTube. Before media institutions made those choices for us and we had to shape our lives around the schedules set by the media.
Minimisation: Over the years the size of technological devices have been reducing, for example before the radio was a very big and heavy device because of this it was very unlikely that we would carry it around with us. However today the radio and other mediums such as the internet have become portable because they have reduced in size and in weight, making it more practical to carry around.Technological convergence: It also refers to how content can be provided to the public across multiple media platforms for example now we are able to read newspapers online without the need of buying the newspaper and also the iPhone is as well as having phone properties it is also a camera, a music player and provides internet access. This removes the need for me to carry a camera around with me as my phone already allows me to take photos and record videos of my outings.
Parallel medium-Despite the TV replacing the radio as the primary home entertainment medium in the 1950s. Audacity- I edited my outside broadcast sound bytes by cutting out the information for example the sections were i was asking the questions and the long pauses.Slideshare- I uploaded a slide presentation I created for the history of the radio onto the website ,then embed the slide onto my blog.
