- The basic premise of this project is simple. “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”. This message is embedded in all of our programming. Youth belong in the garden. Youth belong in the kitchen. Youth should not be “seen and not heard”, they should be seen, heard, consulted, and honored. When we start looking at youth as contributors to society, they go above and beyond our expectations. If we believe the mantra that is so often espoused by adults that youth are the future, then we need to create spaces where they can explore the skills that we expect them to have to change the world. …Self esteem, ownership and pride- healthy child development
