MA. NOEME B. GELILANG
This philosophy contends that teachers teach
for learners to acquirer basic knowledge,
skills and values.
Teachers teach to develop learners into
becoming enlightened and intelligent citizens
of democratic society. This group of teachers
teaches learners do they may live life fully
NOW not to prepare them for adult life.
School, therefore, develop the students’
rational and moral powers.
The perennialist classrooms are “centered
around teachers”. The teachers do not allow
the students’ interest or experiences to
substantially dictate what they teach.
“to help the students understand and
appreciate themselves as unique individuals
who accept complete responsibility for their
thoughts, feelings and actions”.
Concerned with the modification and shaping
of students’ behavior by providing for a
favorable environment, since they believe that
they are a product of their environment.
To develop communication skills of the
learner because the ability to articulate, to
voice out the meaning and values of things
that one obtains from his/her experience of
life and the world id the very essence of
man.
To develop intrinsically motivated and
independent learners adequately equipped
with learning skills for them to be able to
construct knowledge and make meaning of
them.
The human person, the learner in particular
and educated person.
What is true and good and therefore must be
taught.
How a learner must be taught in order to
come close to the truth.
Comes from the Latin word “vocare” which
means to call.
if there is a call, there must be a caller and
someone who is called.
Christians – the caller is God Himself
Muslims – the caller is Allah
It was God who called you here for you to
teach, just as God called Abraham, Moses,
and Mary, of the bible.
These biblical figures did not also understand
the events surrounding their call. But in their
great faith, they answered YES. Mary said:
“Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done
to me according to your word.”
Comes from the Latin word “misio” which
means “to send”.
The Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary
defines mission as “task assigned”.
You are called to be a teacher and you are
sent into the world to accomplish a mission.
means the task entrusted to you
“once a teacher, forever a student”
You are expected to contribute to the
betterment of this world in your own unique
way.
To teach is to influence every child entrusted
in your care to become better and happier.
To teach is to help the child become more
human
