5. What is motivation?
MOTIVATION is the driving force by which
humans achieve their goals. Motivation is
said to be intrinsic or extrinsic.
MOTIVATION may be rooted in a basic need to
minimize physical pain and maximize pleasure, a
desired object, goal, state of being, ideal, or it may be
attributed to less-apparent reasons such as altruism,
selfishness, morality, or avoiding mortality.
6. DEFINE MOTIVATION FOR YOURSELF
What gets one person motivated may not work for
someone else.
Having a luxury car may work for one, but for
another making a difference in other people’s lives
may be their biggest desire.
You must define motivation for yourself. You must
know what your own values and principles are.
What really gets you excited?
What makes you feel good about yourself?
What are your spiritual guidelines?
What is it you want?
7. Intrinsic motivation
• Intrinsic
motivation refers
to motivation
that is driven by
an interest or
enjoyment in the
task itself, and
exists within the
individual rather
than relying on
any external
pressure
8. extrinsic motivation
Extrinsic motivation
comes from outside of the
individual. Common
extrinsic motivations are
rewards like money and
grades, coercion and
threat of punishment.
Competition is in general
extrinsic because it
encourages the performer
to win and beat others, not
to enjoy the intrinsic
rewards of the activity
9. Way of success
Decide what you want.
Think about WHY you want it.
Then , take risk to reach your goal
11. RULE -1
Set a major goal,
but follow a path.
The path has mini
goals that go in
many directions.
When you learn to
succeed at mini
goals, you will be
motivated to
challenge grand
goals.
12. RULE-2
Finish what you
start. A half finished
project is of no use
to anyone. Quitting is
a habit. Develop the
habit of finishing
self-motivated
projects.
13. RULE-3
Socialize with others
of similar interest.
Mutual support is
motivating. We will
develop the attitudes
of our five best
friends. If they are
losers, we will be a
loser. If they are
winners, we will be a
winner. To be a
cowboy we must
associate with
cowboys.
14. RULE-4
Learn how to learn.
Dependency on others
for knowledge
supports the habit of
procrastination. Man
has the ability to learn
without instructors. In
fact, when we learn
the art of self-
education we will find,
if not create,
opportunity to find
success beyond our
wildest dreams.
15. RULE-5
Harmonize natural
talent with interest
that motivates. Natural
talent creates
motivation, motivation
creates persistence and
persistence gets the job
done.
16. RULE-6
Increase knowledge of
subjects that inspires.
The more we know
about a subject, the
more we want to learn
about it. A self-propelled
upward spiral develops.
17. RULE-7
Take risk. Failure and
bouncing back are
elements of
motivation. Failure is
a learning tool. No
one has ever
succeeded at anything
worthwhile without a
string of failures.
18. clarifying fears
1. Determine what is the worst possible scenario. How
would it affect the various areas of your life?
2. what can do to overcome it and be back at where
you are right now?
3. identify what is the most probable scenario. What
would most likely happen? How would it affect you in
various areas of your life?
4. What is the problem ? What is need to overcome it?
