Lost Boy is a song written by artist Ruth B. The song is about going back to the feeling of
childhood and living carefree in your ‘neverland’. In the song Peter Pan represents the hope
and this idea of going back to a time of joy and innocence as in the story of Peter Pan he
never grows up.
There was a time when I was alone
Nowhere to go and no place to call home
My only friend was the man in the moon
And even sometimes he would go away, too
Then one night, as I closed my eyes
I saw a shadow flying high
He came to me with the sweetest smile

This first verse sets the tone for the song. They feel
lonely and isolated from society – they don’t even
have their imaginary friend anymore. This could
represent their struggle and how they fell lost in
the world without a home, family or friends.
This could connotate that they have seen hope. They can see
a place where they are not alone and that they can be
happy.
‘Peter Pan’ – This could be
representing what he was using to
feel less alone. Peter Pan is their
hope.
‘Pixie Dust’ – the pixie dust is like a drug that
enables them to escape from their loneliness
and find happiness.
Ever since finding ‘peter pan’, this hope, they
aren’t lost anymore. They have found
happiness.
‘Captain Hook’ – with Captain
Hook being a villain, this could
represent their enemy, what’s
bringing them down. It’s this
‘captain hook’ that’s making
them feel isolated and taking
them away from reality.
‘lost boy’s like me are free’ – could connotate
his new reality. He isn’t lonely any more.
They have left behind this world that caused
them so much unhappiness and pain. They
have a new family that loves them.
