2. INTRODUCTION
DFCCIL is a corporation run by GOI to undertake
planning & development, mobilization of financial
resources and construction.
It maintained and operated the dedicated freight
corridors.
Registered as a company under Companies act 1956
on 30 October 2006
DFCCIL is rated ‘AAA’, the highest Corporate
Credit Rating given by CRISIL and LAAA (SO)
(pronounced L triple A (Structured Obligation) Credit

3. MISSION
As the dedicated agency to make the vision into
reality, DFCCIL's mission is:
• To build a corridor with appropriate technology that
enables Indian railways to regain its market share of
freight transport by creating additional capacity and
guaranteeing efficient, reliable, safe and cheaper
options for mobility to its customers.
• To set up Multimodal logistic parks along the DFC to
provide complete transport solution to customers.
4. • To support the government's initiatives toward
ecological sustainability by encouraging users
to adopt railways as the most environment
friendly mode for their transport requirements.

6. NEED FOR DEDICATED FREIGHT
CORRIDOR PROJECT
• Two diagonals of golden quadrilateral adding up to
total route of 10,122 km carries more than 55% of
revenue earning freight traffic of IR
• The existing trunk route of Howrah-Delhi and
Mumbai-Delhi are highly saturated, line capacity
utilization varying between 115% to 150%.
• The surging power needs requiring heavy coal
movement, booming infrastructure construction and
growing international trade has led to the conception
of the Dedicated Freight Corridors along the Eastern
and Western Routes.
7. • The successful award of this Design and Build
contract will pave way for finalization of other DFCC
packages which are in various stages of bidding
project
• L & T provides 14 billion of technology, engineering,
construction, manufacturing and financial services
conglomerate, with global operations
• DFCCIL is the country largest project awarded so far
in rail sector and first of its kind in India
8. • DFCCIL has been designated as a special purpose
vehicle.
• Upgrading of transportation technology, increase in
productivity and reduction in unit transportation cost
are focus area of project.
• Dedicated freight corridor covers about 2762km long

• From Ludhiana to Punjab to Kolkata (1839 Kms).
• Mughalsarai-Ludhiana (1183 km) section of Eastern
Corridor funded by World Bank for US$ 2.725 billion
• 122 km Mughalsarai-Sonnagar section funded by
Budgetary Support
• Dankuni-Sonnagar (534 km) section to be funded
through PPP.
• The total land requirement for the project is around
10,661 hectares
12. The western corridor
• Joint venture of Larsen & Toubro and Japan based
sojitz corporation.
• It will be connecting 4 states
Haryana(192km),Rajasthan(553km),Gujarat(588k
m),Maharashtra(150km).
• The Western Corridor covers a distance of 1483
km of double line electric (2 X 25 KV) track from
Jawaharlal Nehru Port JNPT to Dadri via
Vadodara-Ahmedabad-Palanpur-Phulera-Rewari
13. • 626 km double-track corridor is to contruct
from Rewari in Haryana to Iqbalgarh in Gujarat
via Rajasthan.
• It also includes1,400km track of railway line, 50
major and 1,250 minor bridges and 20 stations.
• Funding by Japan International Cooperation
