4. FRIENDSHIP FORCE INTERNATIONAL
• Co-founded in 1977 by former US President Jimmy Carter
• He envisioned that Friendship Force could contribute to building a
more harmonious and peaceful world.
• He also envisioned the Friendship Force would afford participants
a personally exciting and enriching experience.
• Once personal friendships are established, differences of language,
race, religion or politics become far less important.

6. MEMBERSHIP: OPEN TO SINGLES, COUPLES AND
FAMILIES WHO ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING PEOPLE
FROM DIFFERENT CULTURES AND COUNTRIES.
Meetings are held monthly and include socializing, and a
brief business meeting. There is discussion of travel and
journey opportunities and/or guest speakers.
FFM is managed by a Board of elected officers and appointed
committee chairs.
Annual fees are $60/year

“What do Friendship Force Members do?
Travel in groups of 15-20 as ambassadors of our country to other
countries.
Home-stay journeys
Sightseeing, shopping, visiting local attractions & other group social
activities
We welcome ambassadors from other countries into
our homes, providing accommodation & activities.
Journeys with other clubs are a highlight – the club hosts up to 2
one-week incoming journeys & travels on 2 outbound journeys
annually.
8. HOW ARE THE JOURNEYS ORGANIZED?
• Journey Directors – are appointed by both the host and
ambassador clubs who coordinate and plan the journey travel &
activities with their committees.
• Home Hosts – provide ambassadors with lodging & some meals in
their homes for a week.
• Day Hosts – provide support for home hosts.
• Dinner Hosts – provide friendship dinners in their homes for small
groups of ambassadors and home hosts.
9. WHERE DO FRIENDSHIP FORCE MEMBERS TRAVEL TO?
• As a member of Friendship Force Manitoba you are also a
member of Friendship Force International.
• You are eligible to travel to :
• Journeys to other clubs around the world or within Canada
• Travel on Global, Theme or Discovery journeys with other FFI clubs
• Attend Canadian FF conferences & International Conferences.
