Imagine for Design # 1
Idea #1
•Our materials are white foam flat.
• We need 3 units for white foam flat.
•The disadvantage of this idea is we can get a higher impact score.
•The advantages of using this idea are that when we put it on the sides we could cover the holes
of the box except one hole where the thermometer goes.

Our materials foam, and flat felt.
We need 2 for felt 1 for foam.
The advantage of the felt would be the felt could hold more heat.
The disadvantage is that the felt would get a higher impact score.

• The total sore for the our first solar oven was - 18 points.
• The parts of our solar oven design that worked the most
was aluminum foil, because the light reflects of the foil
and cooks the food.

subtracted from the control oven 37.6°c - 24.4°c = 13.2°c
• Our time score is the number of minutes it took to cool
down which was -9
• Our new total score for the solar ovens is -19

Reflection
• Our improved design did not work because our score was
horrible because we had a low heat score and a high
impact score.
• We changed white foam to black, and then we added
aluminum. These were poor insulators because aluminum
was a reflector and conducts heat so it did not trap the
heat.
• If we could improve we would take off the foil and add
shredded foam because it takes up more room to absorb
the heat.
