People, Processes and Technology have been a part of the ITIL messaging since it began in 1986 (at least that’s what the Internet says, and everything you read on the internet is true).
People and Technology get lots of focus, but Processes are frequently overlooked!
Workflow for advanced analytics is complex and requires considerable thought.
Enterprise organizations are often very mature in their processes, and an analytics function has the potential to cause SEVERE disruption.
What processes will you use to do analytics?
How will analytics change your existing business processes?
Do you need new process for functions that don’t currently exist?
You will work on defining process for the first couple of years. Plan on it. Socialize the reality that multiple solutions are possible, and that multiple paths will get to the “right” answer – and sometimes a different “right” answer. Establish periodic reviews of the process so you know how the work is being done.
