This document summarizes a biology student's 10-day summer training at a hospital laboratory. It describes the various parts of the laboratory including blood collection, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, and hematology. In bacteriology, it outlines tests for C-reactive protein, latex agglutination, antistreptolysin O titer, and bacterial cultures. It also discusses tests and procedures done in virology, parasitology, and hematology. The student recommends having a teacher guide at the hospital to help students and increasing the length of the training period.

2. Over view
every year Ministry of Higher Education have summer
training for biology student in hospital .. to learn its work
in the laboratory in reality, and learn more detail about
tests ...
our summer role are about 10 days, we are in (( ))
3. Parts of this branch (markazi)
Blood collection
Bacteriology
Virology
Parasitology
hematology
Hormon
4. Blood collection
• in this part every day collect blood from more than
200 patient
this type of needle used to receiving blood from
patient, as its easy and quick , also we learned how
to use it .
6. CRP test is a blood test that measures the amount of a
protein called C-reactive protein in your blood. C-reactive
protein measures general levels of inflammation in your
body.
Latex agglutination is observed when a sample containing
the specific antigen (or antibody) is mixed with an
antibody (or antigen) which is coated on the surface of
latex particles.
ASO titer is a blood test to measure antibodies against
streptolysin O, a substance produced by Group
AStreptococcus bacteria. it used to help diagnose
rheumatic fever or glomerulonephritis

8. Culture:
For urine:
1. blood agar: is a general non-selective growth medium for bacteria,
yeast, and fungi.
2. Macconkey agar : is for the selective and differential isolation of
gram negative bacteria, especially the Enterbacteriaceae
9. for high vagainal swap
1. Chocolate agar : is a non-selective, enriched growth
medium . It is a variant of the blood agar plate,
containing (RBC) that have been lysed by slowly heating
to 80 °C.
2. Blood agar
3. Macconkey agar
10. virology
use serum ( anti body- anti gene agglutination) ELISA
1. HIV
2. HBC
3. HCV
11. Parasitology
Gue : use urine to detect the presence of puss cell ,
epithelial Cell and cast
Gse : use stool to detect the presence of egg or
larva of parasites
12. Hematology
CBC : this test is used to detect range of RBC , WBC ,
Plate let and all part of those by advanced instrument
called CBC
ESR : It is a nonspecific screening test that indirectly
measures how much inflammation is in the body
Blood group
HGB : Hemoglobin is a protein that is carried by red
cells
PCV : a measure of the proportion of blood volume
that is occupied by red blood cells
13. MCV : Mean corpuscular volume (MCV) is the average
volume of red cells in a specimen. MCV is elevated or
decreased in accordance with average red cell size
MCH : (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin) - Hemoglobin
amount per red blood cell is the MCH.
Normal Adult Range: 25.4 - 34.6 pg/cell
Optimal Adult Reading: 30
MCHC : (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration ) - this
is the amount of hemoglobin per liter of fluid in each cell.
