Project Partners: • NHL-University for Professional Development (e.g. former polytechnics) in Leeuwarden: institute for education and institute for communication and mediadesign • IVN (Institute for environmental education) • KeurICT: software developers Made possible by NHL, province of Fryslân, EU HHL ‘ 08 | VeenQuest | J.Lepeltak | G.Plakke

General objectives: • Develop a technological platform for educational adventure games • Develop content for grade 8th-10 th about environmental issues related with the national park • Must be used by school classes and family’s with kids (visitor centre) in the field HHL ‘ 08 | VeenQuest | J.Lepeltak | G.Plakke

Educational objectives: • Stimulate environmental and sustainability awareness. • Stimulate outdoor use of ICT. • Use modern modern media. HHL ‘ 08 | VeenQuest | J.Lepeltak | G.Plakke

How can we reach our objectives? • Using principles of collaborative learning • Adventure game • Assignments are related with specific locations • Kids have to touch, observe, taste etc. (use there senses): Php-paper (acid rate) thermometer, measuring tape HHL ‘ 08 | VeenQuest | J.Lepeltak | G.Plakke

How do we integrate GPS and PDA? • Platform Adobe Flash and Visual Studio .Net, the best of 2 worlds. • Front interface and multimedia Flash for pocket PC • GPS framework .net c# • Parse data with XML between flash and c# HHL ‘ 08 | VeenQuest | J.Lepeltak | G.Plakke

Intro of the story-line: main characters: • editor daily local newspaper • an alien • storyline serves as planned route HHL ‘ 08 | VeenQuest | J.Lepeltak | G.Plakke

VeenQuest concept can be used for: • musea • Zoological/botanic gardens • Historical spots like (old) city centres • Etc. New developments combination of Coach (interface for measuring etc in science curriculum) and PDA-data logging. HHL ‘ 08 | VeenQuest | J.Lepeltak | G.Plakke
