determination, an intriguing endeavour that is
creative in nature through sharing of knowledge,
resources, skills, learning and building
consensus.

6. There are different types of collaboration and partnership among
the RCE’s , some of which are:
1-Intra- RCE collaborations and partnership: This takes place
between or among a particular RCE member organizations.
2-Inter-RCEs’ C collaboration and partnership: This type is
between one RCE and another RCE. It may be within the same
country, continental region, continent or intercontinental.
3-Multi-RCEs’ collaboration and partnership: This type takes
place among multiple RCEs within a common purpose. It may be
among RCEs in the same continent, or RCEs from different
continents or even RCEs form within a country.
4-Interlocution Collaboration and partnership: This takes place
between an RCE or group of RCEs and another institutions or
international organizations that are not any RCE members but
partners in the journey to sustainable development, such as
UNDP. UNESCO, Toyota, ect.

between/among RCEs to pursue collective
benefit
A partnership that is committed to pursuing
an individual RCEs goal with the help of
another RCEs for sustainable development
8. In terms of benefits, collaboration and partnership can be
divided into three categories:
Individual benefit: In this type only on RCE will benefit the other
will only be helping in the spirit of Ubuntu. There will be no real
benefit but virtual. The Helping RCE may not even have a similar
problem but feels it has the capacity to overcome it hence the
collaboration and partnership . There may be benefit of working
it out beyond boundaries, experience and new technique but not
from the subject of C&P.
Mutual benefit: Both RCEs involved benefit from the C&P . The
both have identical situation of the C&P subject and will benefit
from the outcome in a similar or different ways
General benefit; This C&P among / between the RCEs is aimed at
transforming the society/ community or the whole world . It may
benefit the RCEs but the big chunk of the benefit will go to the
society.
9. Identify a partner among the RCEs with a similar project/programmes
Study the RCE’s practices and try to adapt or create correlation with your s
Draft a proposal and background materials that explains reasons for the partnerships which
includes but not limited to;
Describe community-level indicators you will utilize - indicate the levels (incidence or
prevalence) of behaviors or outcomes that relate to your goal or area of concern.
Explain how often it occurs in the community.
illustrate how many people are affected by it and to what severity.
Describe other past or current attempts to bring about change.
Explain the possible impact and/or consequences of achieving your goal.
Identify available resources and relationships that will be needed to bring about change.
Predict what financial and personnel resources will be needed to accomplish the goal. What
resources are already available and which will need to be obtained?
h-Name leaders in the community. Who is influential in the community and how can your
collaborative partnership build a relationship with them?
Describe how networks are organized within the community and how you plan on utilizing
them to intervene in the community.
Research the community projects currently in progress. What does this tell you about what the
community sees as valuable and what clues does this provide that might help you be
successful?
Determine who the target populations are that you most want to affect and those in your
community whose actions can influence them, either directly or indirectly.
Communicate to the identified RCE and issue a partnership invitation.
10. Map out methodology for the partnership (generate set of ground rules)
Prepare to deal with uncertainties
Be as transparent as possible
Consider partner’s background , culture, values and ethics
Involve the community in defining the issues and identifying the partners
Create way to meaningful involvement
Have everyone participate in naming the partnership
Always begin by building relationship and establish trust and credibility
Develop relationships based on mutual trust and respect
Reinforce shared leadership in the execution of the project/programme
Acknowledge the difference between the community input and active community
involvement
Beware that partnership and collaboration face different challenges at different
stages of it development
Encourage upstream thinking and action on broader issues
Sensitize your RCE on experiencing internal transition that may influence their
involvement in the partnership
11. The types of collaboration and partnership boundaries are
characterizes with numerous barriers because of cultures, distances
and history.
Collaborations and partnerships among the RCEs are possible after
the following platforms are managed and same boundaries
overcome
Linguistic barriers
Physical barriers
Psychological barriers
Ethics
Compositions
The degree of openness in the system is a critical factor among the
RCEs
12. At the beginning, RCEs must arrive at the shared definition of
subject of collaboration and partnership, including how it relates
to the interdependence of various stakeholders
All RCEs involved must accept and acknowledge the legitimacy of
the other participant
Other stakeholder whose involvement may be necessary fro the
success of the subject of C&P must be identified and included
The RCEs must determine the types of resources needed for the
C&P to start and proceed.
They must analyze the situation and the subject
Diagnose the key issues involved
Determine the desired outcome
Design strategy to achieve the vision and goal of C&P
Draw a timetable for the strategy
And lastly be able to measure and evaluate the outcome
