5. OBJECTIVE
• Empowering youth for the protection of environment.
• To educate students and teachers on the concept of
carbon footprint.
• To enable students to collect data pertaining to the
carbon emissions and carbon sequestration in their
campus.
• To calculate the specific carbon footprint of the campus
and classify them as carbon negative, neutral or positive.
• To create individual plans for schools to reduce their
carbon footprint based on the data generated.
6. BENEFITS OF IMPLEMETING THIS PROJECT
• Easiest way to calculate the carbon footprint of each of
the participating schools.
• Creation of proper awareness among individuals
regarding their carbon footprint and ways to reduce it.
• Usage of resources in a sustainable way and leading a
low carbon lifestyle
• A small stepping stone towards mitigating the impacts of
climate change.
7. ACTIVITY- METHOD
1. Introduction classes and workshops
• Introduction classes were conducted for explaining the
project and the concept of carbon footprint, to the
students and teachers.

for training them on accurate data collection.
8. 2. Data collection
Groups were formed between students and they were
directed to collect data on individual sectors such as,
• Electricity
• Cooking
• Transportation
• Waste management
• Carbon sequestration by trees
9. 3. Monitoring of activities

team for
• Accurate collection of data
• Opportunities for the students to interact with
experts.
4. Data Analysis
• Analysis of data were done for preparing individual
reports for each schools .
10. 5. Zero carbon plans
• Individual plans were provided to the schools for making
them carbon neutral.
• “Zero carbon plans” given by the project team includes,
Resource optimization.
Energy Efficiency
Renewable Energy resources.
6. Rating of schools for encouraging reduced carbon footprint
• Star rating were awarded to schools according to their,
Current carbon footprint/ Status
Percentage of implementation of carbon reduction
plans
