This document outlines the structure and objectives of the 2016 ProSPER.Net Young Researchers' School on sustainable energy. The 2-week course will bring together students from Asia-Pacific universities to increase understanding of sustainability challenges and develop research skills. Students will attend lectures on sustainable energy and research methodology, participate in field trips, and work in groups to develop a research proposal and article. The goal is to foster a regional network of future professionals working on sustainable development issues.

2. General objectives
• Opportunity for students to be exposed to
sustainability issues while developing research
skills within and across universities in the Asia-
Pacific region
• Foment regional network of students/future
professionals and academics working on
sustainable development

3. Specific objectives
• Increase participants’ recognition and
understanding of current
environmental problems and
sustainability challenges, as well as
solutions for sustainable development
in different contexts

–Research communication
• Close interaction between students and
resource persons through group discussions
and field trips (content and context for
research proposal development) in a
multicultural and multidisciplinary
environment

• Research proposal – Group work

– Deadline for submission:
• First Draft: 12February (Fri)
• Final Draft: 26 February (Fri)
– Maximum of 1,500 words
• Interviews
– Interviews to be conducted by students to local stakeholders
during the field trips
