- Quick description of HEN and Hawkesbury LGA: The Hawkesbury Area The Hawkesbury Local Government Area is located towards the outer north west of the Sydney metropolitan area. It is located about 50 kilometres and approximately one hour’s drive from the central business district. The area takes its name from the majestic Hawkesbury River that flows through it. Hawkesbury City Council is the largest local government area in metropolitan NSW. It covers an area of 2,793 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 65,114. It is divided by four river valleys and contains fertile flood plains and wetlands, undulating hills, timbered ridges, steep gorges and towering escarpments. The Hawkesbury is made up of many small townships and localities. The major centres are Windsor, Richmond and North Richmond. Postcodes are available for all our towns and localities. The Hawkesbury is a wonderful place to live, work and visit. Windsor was the third settlement of the Sydney colony and the area has a rich history.
- Almost none of which are recycled. Instead they are landfilled or littered and can take thousands of years to break down in the environment.
- The solution: The Responsible Cafes platform encourages cafes to provide small discount to customers who bring a reusable cup and also to sell discounted reusable cups.
- 4 x HEN Volunteers visited every Café in our two main town centres, Richmond and Windsor which both have a vibrant café culture. In total close to 70 local cafes across the Hawkesbury area were visited. So far 16 local cafes have officially signed up while a number are offering discounts but are yet to officially sign up to the Responsible Cafes program. Major coffee shop retailers like Gloria Jeans, Michel's Patisserie and McDonalds have all been involved. Media:
