Potential RCE engagements with IPBES
• Through students, engage in local biodiversity research

biodiversity and ecosystems services in order to improve critical thinking
skills
• Nominate experts of Indigenous and Local Knowledge (ILK) – Identify from

 2003 - Evian, France G8 meeting talks about biodiversity;
 2005 - Conference in UNESCO Paris, agrees to mechanism
for better biodiversity science;
 2008 - no progress after many meetings, pass to UNEP;
 2010 - agreement in Busan, RoK, to discuss
establishment of a Science-policy platform;
 2011- agreement to establish the Platform
 2012 First plenary meeting of IPBES.
