2. •ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ASHA:-
•Asha will take steps to create awareness
and provide information to the
community people on determinants of
health such as;
•Nutrition
•Basic sanitation
•Healthy living and working conditions etc
•2)She will counsel women on;
•Birth preparedness
3. •Motivating women to give birth in hospitals
•Importance of safe deliveries
•Aware about breastfeeding and
complementary feeding
•Bringing children to immunization clinics
•Aware about contraception
•Prevention of common infections including
reproductive tract infections
3)Asha will mobilize the community and
facilitate them in assessing in health and health
related services available at the anganwadi,
4. subcentre,primary health centre such as
immunization,antenatal check up,post natal
check up etc.
4)She will work with the village health and
sanitation committee of the gram panchayat to
develop a comprehensive village health plan
5)Asha will provide primary medical care for
minor ailments such as diarrhoea,fever and first
aid for minor injuries
She will also provide directly observed
treatment short course(DOTS) under revised
5. National Tuberculosis Control Programme
6)She will inform about the births and deaths in
her village and unusual health problems to the
community to subcentre and primary health
centre
7)Encourage the community people for family
planning;for example-surgical sterilization
8)Keeping demographic records and improving
village sanitation
9)ASHA’s are also meant to serve as a key
communication mechanism between health
care system and rural population
