1Logan 2026
In the year 2026 Logan is a city of
opportunity.
Strategically positioned within a rapidly
changing region and a global economy,
we live in a dynamic city that sustains our
quality of life.
Here, neighbours, generations and
cultures connect. Our lifestyles are in
harmony with our environment.
Logan City is a safe and healthy
community, a place all generations will
be proud to live and thrive in.

Our shared vision for
Logan City's future
The participation of so many people in Logan 2026 City Directions
demonstrates our wonderful community spirit and enthusiasm in creating
our city’s vision for the future. Many community members participated in
the city-wide community values survey, focus groups and interviews.
Over 1,000 entries were received from our young people for the
colouring and digital arts competitions and more than 80 community
submissions provided valuable feedback to the draft document.
In recognition of the important contributions from our community, the
insights, images and sentiments that have been shared are incorporated
throughout this document.

A city with direction
It is what we value that makes us unique.
Location, affordability and accessibility, green space and the people.
These are the features residents value and help define Logan City as
a great place to live. Of course there is more to Logan City, but in a
recent community survey these factors made the biggest impression.
It is about Logan City being an affordable place to live, conveniently
located between Brisbane, Gold Coast, Moreton Bay and the Scenic
Rim National Parks. Logan City’s wide open, green space is another
feature which attracts many people. People choose to live in Logan City
and those who do, have made it the great city it is today.
Change happens quickly. Things will change as much, if not more, in
the next 20 years than they did in the last 20. The experiences that lie
ahead will be as exciting and challenging as those we have faced to
get to where we are. There is a desire to build on Logan City’s strong
community spirit and protect our natural assets such as our parks
and bushland. There is a desire for Logan to move from being a city
with regional significance in South East Queensland to a city that is
recognised for its global connections. The question is not how do we
maintain our city, but how do we improve it.
In order to answer this question we looked to the future where
possibilities are endless. The people of Logan City have embraced the
opportunity to shape the future by defining the direction our city will
take. We now need to work together to create the future we want.
‘We are delighted with the vision for our
city come year 2026.’
Peter and Anastasia, Logan Reserve
‘There is no doubt that Logan has come of age and now has
the opportunity to capitalise on its unique location in South
East Queensland. I look forward to a transformation that will
cause us all to have great pride. Go for it!’
Gary, Daisy Hill
‘Any improvement for Logan will be for
the better and I am all for it.’
Pamela, Meadowbrook

Logan 2026 City Directions
Logan 2026 City Directions is our city’s inspiring twenty-year vision.
The ideas put forward here come from a variety of sources: the
2006 Community Values Survey, detailed demographic studies and
projections, extensive research, community consultation and the
development of potential future scenarios.
We considered numerous emerging issues in the development of our
vision, including our ageing population, higher density living, changing
lifestyles, the pressure on natural resources such as water, conserving
our natural environment, supporting a safe and healthy community,
building a stronger economy and improving our connections within and
outside Logan City.
Logan 2026 City Directions helps define what we need to do by way of
smarter planning and managing growth to create a better future.
Ongoing improvement in city management involved exploring the
futures we are likely to encounter and agreeing on the future we would
like to create. With your help, these ideas for the future have allowed
us to develop a vision, determine a direction and have helped build a
framework to plan the city’s long term development.
While the pages that follow illustrate the realistic possibilities and
potential directions, it now requires all of us to bring our future
direction to life.

The vision
Logan 2026 City Directions is our vision for the future, developed by
the people in our community. Derived from a number of perspectives,
it is a picture of what we want our city to be like in the year 2026. It
represents a collaborative and proactive effort to shape the growth and
development of Logan City over a 20-year time frame.
The first element, the vision statement, is a one-paragraph statement
of where we hope to be in 2026. The second element, the themes,
consists of the five strategic directions which will guide future city
planning.
The vision statement:
In the year 2026 Logan is a city of opportunity. Strategically positioned
within a rapidly changing region and a global economy, we live in
a dynamic city that sustains our quality of life. Here, neighbours,
generations and cultures connect. Our lifestyles are in harmony with
our environment. Logan City is a safe and healthy community, a place
all generations will be proud to live and thrive in.
The themes:
The following five themes support the vision statement and help
describe what Logan City could be like in 2026:
1. active and healthy;
2. creative and innovative;
3. green and sustainable;
4. inclusive and vibrant; and
5. regionally and globally connected.
‘A better future for Logan
depends on the people who
live here.’

change. Together we can
make a difference!’
Serena 13, Logan Central
‘I have lived in many places in
my ten years of life, but of all
places, Logan City is the best.’

6 Logan 2026
Theme 1
Active and healthy
In 2026, Logan is a safe and well designed city where residents enjoy an active
and healthy lifestyle.
KEEPING ACTIVE
Physical inactivity was once a
significant issue for people’s overall
health and well-being. Logan
residents now participate in a huge
range of programs across the city,
encouraging us to stay active and
healthy. Regardless of age, gender,
or ability, all Logan residents fit
exercise into their daily schedules
and enjoy far more nutritious diets.
Logan City is a community that truly
cares for its people. Life expectancy
is now significantly higher and our
valued elders are thriving in a city
that encourages healthy lifestyle
choices and effective preventative
medicine.
LIVING WELL
Individuals and the community have
adopted healthier lifestyle choices.
We have cut back on smoking, eat
more fruit and vegetables, are more
active and have moderated our
alcohol consumption.
Mindsets have changed in our
communities and have engendered
an attitude of self-responsibility.
In the long term, prevention has
proven best for our community and
our health system.
These positive changes have helped
lower disease and obesity rates and
have contributed to an improvement
in our overall mental health.
‘I hope one day Logan will
be as good looking as us!’
Elisabeth 9, Park Ridge

new world... Maybe new
medicines for cancer and
other sicknesses.’

A CITY IN GOOD SHAPE
Logan City is in much better shape
too. Well-planned and integrated
regional centres have grown in key
locations, while smaller hubs in
between these centres act as village
precincts. At the same time, Council
has enhanced community open
spaces and created better access
to sports and recreation facilities.
This eco-friendly design is more
‘walkable’, giving residents closer
connections to their local transport
hub, shopping precinct, market,
park, school and workplace.
Our village precincts, shaded by
trees and lush with gardens, are
designed for open access and
safety.
They are a popular meeting place
for people of all ages, encouraging
human endeavour and activity.
Further afield, pedestrian links,
crossings and bikeways encourage
‘active transport’ – leading us
to conveniently located, secure
destinations for shopping,
recreational activities and work.
Logan City offers more recreational
opportunities closer to home. We
are less stressed, healthier and lead
more satisfying and fulfilling lives.
'I am really happy to live here
because it is safe and more
people will move and settle
down in Logan City because of
its location and facilities.'
Aminah, Woodridge
‘In 2026, Logan City will be a model city
in Australia. There will be many great
bikeways and a fast express busway
through the city. Logan City might even
have the biggest sport centre and a
resort built near the Logan River.’
Frances 9, Forestdale
‘I like to see less smoke and less
factories and more fruit and vegetables.’
Herve, Crestmead

Theme 2
Creative and innovative
In 2026, Logan City is a hub of creativity, constantly generating new ideas that
change the way we live, work and interact.
As well as the vibrant expression
of our many cultures, the city hosts
innovative and globally competitive
businesses. Education programs
provide appropriate skills and
knowledge that meet industry needs
to employ our best talents and
brightest minds.
CELEBRATING OUR CITY
Logan City is proud of its
extraordinary cultural mix and
supports the expression of all
aspects of our many peoples, our
art and our music. Our harmonious
community spirit is channelled
into colourful festivals and events
throughout the year, celebrating
everything that makes Logan
unique.
COLLABORATIVE
PARTNERSHIPS
The city’s business development
strategies have helped foster a
diversified, innovative, knowledge-
based economy with a strong export
focus. Logan’s business community
readily initiates new projects,
schemes and programs to increase
creativity and promote trade
development locally, nationally and
internationally. The city attracts new
enterprises with the timely delivery of
appropriate infrastructure and high-
end connectivity within new and
existing commercial and industrial
precincts.
Another initiative was to foster ‘arts
precincts’ – local hubs supporting
Logan’s visual, performance and
multi-media artists, inventors,
'By the year 2026, we have
in place transport, public
works, environmental and
financial infrastructures
that support our quickly
growing population. To be
recognised by future business
and industry as a city worth
investing in, opening up
opportunities for employment
and population growth.'

designers and writers. Collaborative
in nature and supported by local
businesses, these creative hot-
houses now produce ground-
breaking designs and inventions,
well-matched to new growth
opportunities and market niches.
GENERATING A WEALTH OF
CULTURE
Creative minds congregate in Logan
City and enrich our businesses
and culture. Our community
supports numerous arts and cultural
programs, helping to enhance our
cultural experiences and increase
participation in the arts.
Business, government and
education partnerships have
increased access to education,
training and mentoring programs
such as school-to-work and skilled
workforce initiatives, responsive to
Logan City’s employment needs.
This has increased workforce
participation, productivity and
economic growth. Online courses
and tutoring are now widely
available through libraries,
schools and businesses, providing
a multitude of opportunities for
lifelong learning.
Logan City’s artistic ingenuity and
local inventiveness partner with
industry and commerce to produce
innovative products and services,
cutting edge technologies, and
exciting artistic and cultural events.
It is a flourishing and prosperous city.
‘In the future, I wish to see a
community that's able to work
together.’
Kirsten 14, Loganlea
‘Areas need community centres
so the residents can mingle
and ideas begin to emerge...
The ideas part needs to come
from the people.’
Wendy, Loganholme
‘With all this advancement in
Logan I think it would be a great
place to live.’

Theme 3
Green and sustainable
In 2026, Logan is a green city. We are renowned for our stewardship of the
natural environment.
Most of us live in urban hubs
or smaller community-minded
villages, enjoying the benefits of
ecologically-sensitive buildings and
commercially vibrant surroundings
while keeping a strong connection
with nature.
GREEN AND GROWING
We have found the balance
between managing our city’s
growth and enhancing our natural
environment. This, combined
with educational programs and
campaigns, has created a high
level of awareness and respect for
the environment among Logan
residents. We have established
a network of green corridors
thriving with local native vegetation
and wildlife. Natural habitats
are safeguarded against further
development and enhanced by
re-vegetation and animal welfare
initiatives.
As well as protecting areas of
environmental significance, Council
continues to maintain and improve
our parks and recreational open
space. Council also supports
the city’s ‘slow food’ culture,
encouraging our now-familiar
backyard vegetable patches, urban
community gardens and local
produce markets.
ACTING RESPONSIBLY
Logan City is drought-proof.
Collaborating with other regional
authorities, Council implemented
a total water-cycle management
system that enhances the quality
and quantity of our water resources
and helps maintain the health of
our Logan and Albert Rivers.
Community and industry have
advanced the principles of reduce,
reuse and recycle with incentive
schemes such as compost exchange
programs that enable us to achieve
optimal waste management practices
for our city. Innovative ideas
continue to enhance our water and
waste management practices.
'I love and fully support
our local parks... Walking,
jogging and bike tracks, gym
equipment, playground, dog
fence and open space is what
we should strive to create.'
Lee-Anne, Loganholme

Our community is better prepared
and also has greater resilience to
natural events and disasters.
BECOMING AN ECO-CITY
Eco-friendly design and proactive
legislation has spurred innovative
new ways to build. Developments
now offer a diverse range of
affordable water and energy
efficient choices for home or
business. Community, commercial
and recreational activities are
focused around public transport
hubs. These mini-cities incorporate
higher density, green roofed and
leafy village precincts surrounded
by safe, activity-based green-space
facilities.
Extensive walking and cycling tracks,
affordable and accessible public
transport, neighbourhood shuttle
services, effective home automation
and high-speed digital networks
have all combined to give us
unprecedented flexibility in how, when
and where we live, work and play.
CLEANER, GREENER
INDUSTRY
Green technologies and
knowledge-based enterprises such
as advanced manufacturing have
come to the fore. The combination
of innovative waste management
practices and more efficient use
of energy sources like wind, solar,
hydro and thermal, have reduced
dangerous emissions, pollution and
excess consumption of resources.
Noise pollution is down and air
quality has dramatically improved.
Working together, community and
government have reduced our
footprint and enhanced our natural
environment. Logan City is fast
becoming an eco-city.
‘We have a young family
and moved to Logan due to
its green and conservation
spaces.’
Angela, Logan Central
‘Logan City is a great place to
live. I like that we have great
wildlife and lots of bushland.
We have clean air and no smog.
If you chop down a tree you
must plant a new one.’
Taylor 11, Forestdale
IS THIS THE FUTURE?
‘Logan City is a really good place
to live. A lot of us are kind, friendly
and helpful.’
Maddy 10, Boronia Heights
‘I would like to see more use of
solar and windpower energy and
public transport in more directions.’
Martha, Hillcrest
‘Logan City in the future will be a
great place to live in. In the future
I will see natural things and more
animals in Logan too.There will
be a little number of cars, I will be
seeing bikes or people walking, or
bus and train transport only.’

Theme 4
Inclusive and vibrant
In 2026, Logan is a friendly and welcoming city.
We share ideas and aspirations
and support everyone towards
full community participation.
Cultural diversity is welcomed and
celebrated.
IT'S ALL ABOUT OUR PEOPLE
Logan City is a place where
everyone is valued and included,
regardless of age and gender,
mental and physical ability. Here
people of different cultures,
backgrounds and belief systems
actively engage and contribute to
the shaping of our city.
Interwoven with this is an
acknowledgement of the special
relationship and spiritual connection
our Indigenous people have with
the land.
Government and community work
together through participatory
planning, ensuring all social groups
are involved and responsible for the
decisions which create our future.
FAIR AND JUST
Village precincts maintain the
sense of individual and community
identity. The city’s public areas and
facilities are accessible, with ease
of mobility for all people. People
feel safe and confident to enjoy all
aspects of everyday life.
Greater engagement across and
between communities has brought
people together. By respecting
difference, working to increase
awareness of social justice issues
and offering practical help and
resources, our community has
gained strength and participation
levels have increased.
‘In the future there will be
improved housing, lots of
employed people and a cleaner
city to attract new members of
the community...It will be the
greatest place to relax, raise kids
and to live.’
Masson 15, Kingston
Inclusiveandvibrant
15Logan 2026
Public assistance, social support
groups and healthcare services are
adequately funded, widely available
and user friendly.
Cooperation between government
and developers has made housing
affordable and appropriate. An
innovative and diverse mix of
housing options now meets the
needs of all households.
AN INTERCULTURAL CITY
There are strong working
partnerships between local
businesses, education providers and
public venues that have established
a flourishing arts community. The
city showcases emerging local
talent and enjoys greater access to
creative artistry through an extensive
range of cultural events, exhibitions,
festivals and performances.
Inter-generational and inter-cultural
experiences continue to enrich us
all. Logan City is now a vibrant
multicultural destination renowned
for its fantastic food, art, fashion
and shopping.
‘Logan City could be a
fantastic place to be if good
choices were made to help
everybody.’

Theme 5
Regionally and globally connected
In 2026, Logan is a seamless, connected city. At home and work we
connect and interact regionally and globally.
Logan City’s ability to embrace
new technology enables us to easily
communicate who we are, what we
have and what we do best. Equally,
we welcome new ideas, beliefs and
cultures. Connectivity has given
our community a greater sense of
identity and belonging.
GETTING SMARTER
As we embraced cutting-edge
technologies, online community
portals were created to link local
businesses with education providers,
growing our local economy by
targeting best-fit education and
training programs and work-skill
upgrades.
Next-generation networks have
allowed Logan City to build strong
connections and international
trade relations, ensuring our
economic success. New networks
have reinforced our links with our
many sister and friendship cities,
generating new possibilities for
cultural and economic exchange.
Improved online services enhance
flexibility and increase security in
work practices, supporting an ever-
increasing number of home-based
businesses and teleworkers. Online
retail and community services
lessen our reliance on cars, further
reducing stress and demand on our
transport system.
TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS
Development of key transport
hubs has given everyone access to
safe, comfortable, reliable public
transport, integrating bus and rail
connections. Our road network now
reflects our intracity and intercity
needs. Once designed solely for the
car, roads are more accessible and
multi-functional, supporting cycling,
walking, car pooling and priority
bus services. These physical links
across our city, and to other cities,
flow together as an integrated and
effective transport network.
‘My vision of Logan City in 2026
is that there should be more
helpful technology.’
Hamondeep 9, Woodridge

INTEGRATED SERVICES
Our commitment to a more
responsive and transparent
government has delivered highly
efficient customer service, meeting
community needs. Huge advances
in e-governance have forged closer
links between government agencies
and the community, delivering a
comprehensive range of online
services, reducing road use and
saving time.
Major upgrades to infrastructure,
such as water, power, roads and
telecommunications have integrated
Logan City seamlessly into our
regional networks.
We are a connected city: socially,
economically, culturally and
physically.
‘I would love our Logan to look
like this because it's a better
environment and things are
closer, there are easier roadways
and therefore people are closer.’
Jenni 15, Meadowbrook
‘Life will be very different and
Logan City will have changed a
lot by the time 2026 gets here.
We will most likely be living
in “smart homes”, which will
include many new inventions...
The technology will become so
much better, I can't wait!’

Our commitment to
making it happen
Logan 2026 City Directions is the vision for our city
and encapsulates our goals and aspirations for the
future. It is also the framework for managing our
city’s growth and development and shows Logan City
Council’s commitment to a set of strategic directions for
future priorities and actions. Council’s commitment is
expressed in the form of the following responses to each
of the five themes.
In order to foster a more active and healthy
community, Council will commit to promoting and
supporting safe, active and healthy lifestyles through a
well designed and integrated city.
For us to be more creative and innovative,
Council will promote cultural and artistic creativity and
encourage economic and technological innovation.
To become a more green and sustainable city,
Council will protect and manage our natural and built
environments using sustainable development principles.
In aspiring to be a more inclusive and vibrant
city, Council will encourage greater social and cultural
participation in the community.
To be a regionally and globally connected city,
Council will support the development of integrated
networks and infrastructure.
Logan 2026 City Directions provides an overarching
framework for strategic planning, policy development
and the delivery of council services over the next two
decades. The vision, themes and directions identified
will guide the preparation of Logan City Council’s long-
term strategies and corporate plans (see Figure 1 on
next page).
Logan City Council is committed to:
• aligning its corporate planning, budgetary process
and service delivery to achieving this vision;
• working with other levels of government, the
community and business to realise this vision; and
• reporting progress and ongoing reviews and
improvements of the priorities identified.
It can only be achieved if we all work together to
achieve this shared vision.
‘It looks great and sounds it, now if only we can
make it happen.’
Aaron, Rochedale South
‘Our school very much wants to be part of making
Logan City what it is now and what it will be in the
future.’

My Thoughts
I always think to myself
How will we be in the future?
How will we eat, think, live and look?
And will it matter if your dress doesn’t suit ya?
I ask myself this question every day
So I thought I might sit down and think it through
Now I have come up with a solution to this
I’ve decided the future is really up to you.
Go outside and plant a tree for our wonderful earth
Or sit back and watch the world turn grey
But by planting a tree, I guarantee
You’ll have a better day.
So maybe there will be flying cars
To match the hovering house you bought
But don’t just sit and listen to this
Or else it’s just my thoughts.
Poem by Deni, 14
Springwood
‘Logan City has the perfect opportunity right now to seize the future.
It’s a young city, relatively untrammelled by the twentieth century.
It has the vision, the energy, and the people to do it and do it well.
We must not serve our own short-term gain or political advantage.
We must serve nothing less than the big vision itself: a city that is
genuine, wholesome, and worth calling home.’
Ged,
Slacks Creek
Thank you
We would like to take this opportunity to thank
our residents, community organisations and
Council staff whose involvement, ideas and
aspirations have made Logan City 2026 City
Directions so rewarding.
We look forward to everyone’s participation
and contributions as we strive together to
achieve our shared vision.

Strategically positioned within a rapidly changing region and a global economy, we live in a dynamic city that sustains our quality of life. Here, neighbours, generations and cultures connect. Our lifestyles are in harmony with our environment. Logan City is a safe and healthy community, a place all generations will be proud to live and thrive in.
  • 6. 2 Logan 2026 Our shared vision for Logan City's future The participation of so many people in Logan 2026 City Directions demonstrates our wonderful community spirit and enthusiasm in creating our city’s vision for the future. Many community members participated in the city-wide community values survey, focus groups and interviews. Over 1,000 entries were received from our young people for the colouring and digital arts competitions and more than 80 community submissions provided valuable feedback to the draft document. In recognition of the important contributions from our community, the insights, images and sentiments that have been shared are incorporated throughout this document. • 7. 3Logan 2026 A city with direction It is what we value that makes us unique. Location, affordability and accessibility, green space and the people. These are the features residents value and help define Logan City as a great place to live. Of course there is more to Logan City, but in a recent community survey these factors made the biggest impression. It is about Logan City being an affordable place to live, conveniently located between Brisbane, Gold Coast, Moreton Bay and the Scenic Rim National Parks. Logan City’s wide open, green space is another feature which attracts many people. People choose to live in Logan City and those who do, have made it the great city it is today. Change happens quickly. Things will change as much, if not more, in the next 20 years than they did in the last 20. The experiences that lie ahead will be as exciting and challenging as those we have faced to get to where we are. There is a desire to build on Logan City’s strong community spirit and protect our natural assets such as our parks and bushland. There is a desire for Logan to move from being a city with regional significance in South East Queensland to a city that is recognised for its global connections. The question is not how do we maintain our city, but how do we improve it. In order to answer this question we looked to the future where possibilities are endless. The people of Logan City have embraced the opportunity to shape the future by defining the direction our city will take. We now need to work together to create the future we want. ‘We are delighted with the vision for our city come year 2026.’ Peter and Anastasia, Logan Reserve ‘There is no doubt that Logan has come of age and now has the opportunity to capitalise on its unique location in South East Queensland. I look forward to a transformation that will cause us all to have great pride. Go for it!’ Gary, Daisy Hill ‘Any improvement for Logan will be for the better and I am all for it.’ Pamela, Meadowbrook
  • 8. 4 Logan 2026 Logan 2026 City Directions Logan 2026 City Directions is our city’s inspiring twenty-year vision. The ideas put forward here come from a variety of sources: the 2006 Community Values Survey, detailed demographic studies and projections, extensive research, community consultation and the development of potential future scenarios. We considered numerous emerging issues in the development of our vision, including our ageing population, higher density living, changing lifestyles, the pressure on natural resources such as water, conserving our natural environment, supporting a safe and healthy community, building a stronger economy and improving our connections within and outside Logan City. Logan 2026 City Directions helps define what we need to do by way of smarter planning and managing growth to create a better future. Ongoing improvement in city management involved exploring the futures we are likely to encounter and agreeing on the future we would like to create. With your help, these ideas for the future have allowed us to develop a vision, determine a direction and have helped build a framework to plan the city’s long term development. While the pages that follow illustrate the realistic possibilities and potential directions, it now requires all of us to bring our future direction to life. • 9. 5Logan 2026 The vision Logan 2026 City Directions is our vision for the future, developed by the people in our community. Derived from a number of perspectives, it is a picture of what we want our city to be like in the year 2026. It represents a collaborative and proactive effort to shape the growth and development of Logan City over a 20-year time frame. The first element, the vision statement, is a one-paragraph statement of where we hope to be in 2026. The second element, the themes, consists of the five strategic directions which will guide future city planning. The vision statement: In the year 2026 Logan is a city of opportunity. The themes: The following five themes support the vision statement and help describe what Logan City could be like in 2026: 1. active and healthy; 2. creative and innovative; 3. green and sustainable; 4. inclusive and vibrant; and 5. regionally and globally connected. ‘A better future for Logan depends on the people who live here.’ Masson 15, Kingston ‘If we start now things might change. Together we can make a difference!’ Serena 13, Logan Central ‘I have lived in many places in my ten years of life, but of all places, Logan City is the best.’ Jared 10, Boronia Heights
  • 10. 6 Logan 2026 Theme 1 Active and healthy In 2026, Logan is a safe and well designed city where residents enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle. KEEPING ACTIVE Physical inactivity was once a significant issue for people’s overall health and well-being. Logan residents now participate in a huge range of programs across the city, encouraging us to stay active and healthy. Regardless of age, gender, or ability, all Logan residents fit exercise into their daily schedules and enjoy far more nutritious diets. Logan City is a community that truly cares for its people. Life expectancy is now significantly higher and our valued elders are thriving in a city that encourages healthy lifestyle choices and effective preventative medicine. LIVING WELL Individuals and the community have adopted healthier lifestyle choices. We have cut back on smoking, eat more fruit and vegetables, are more active and have moderated our alcohol consumption. Mindsets have changed in our communities and have engendered an attitude of self-responsibility. In the long term, prevention has proven best for our community and our health system. These positive changes have helped lower disease and obesity rates and have contributed to an improvement in our overall mental health. ‘I hope one day Logan will be as good looking as us!’ Elisabeth 9, Park Ridge ‘I think it would be a whole new world... Maybe new medicines for cancer and other sicknesses.’ Jesmine 9, St Edwards Activeandhealthy
  • 11. 7Logan 2026 A CITY IN GOOD SHAPE Logan City is in much better shape too. Well-planned and integrated regional centres have grown in key locations, while smaller hubs in between these centres act as village precincts. At the same time, Council has enhanced community open spaces and created better access to sports and recreation facilities. This eco-friendly design is more ‘walkable’, giving residents closer connections to their local transport hub, shopping precinct, market, park, school and workplace. Our village precincts, shaded by trees and lush with gardens, are designed for open access and safety. They are a popular meeting place for people of all ages, encouraging human endeavour and activity. Further afield, pedestrian links, crossings and bikeways encourage ‘active transport’ – leading us to conveniently located, secure destinations for shopping, recreational activities and work. Logan City offers more recreational opportunities closer to home. We are less stressed, healthier and lead more satisfying and fulfilling lives. 'I am really happy to live here because it is safe and more people will move and settle down in Logan City because of its location and facilities.' Aminah, Woodridge ‘In 2026, Logan City will be a model city in Australia. There will be many great bikeways and a fast express busway through the city. Logan City might even have the biggest sport centre and a resort built near the Logan River.’ Frances 9, Forestdale ‘I like to see less smoke and less factories and more fruit and vegetables.’ Herve, Crestmead
  • 12. 8 Logan 2026 Theme 2 Creative and innovative In 2026, Logan City is a hub of creativity, constantly generating new ideas that change the way we live, work and interact. As well as the vibrant expression of our many cultures, the city hosts innovative and globally competitive businesses. Education programs provide appropriate skills and knowledge that meet industry needs to employ our best talents and brightest minds. CELEBRATING OUR CITY Logan City is proud of its extraordinary cultural mix and supports the expression of all aspects of our many peoples, our art and our music. Our harmonious community spirit is channelled into colourful festivals and events throughout the year, celebrating everything that makes Logan unique. COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS The city’s business development strategies have helped foster a diversified, innovative, knowledge- based economy with a strong export focus. Logan’s business community readily initiates new projects, schemes and programs to increase creativity and promote trade development locally, nationally and internationally. The city attracts new enterprises with the timely delivery of appropriate infrastructure and high- end connectivity within new and existing commercial and industrial precincts. Another initiative was to foster ‘arts precincts’ – local hubs supporting Logan’s visual, performance and multi-media artists, inventors, 'By the year 2026, we have in place transport, public works, environmental and financial infrastructures that support our quickly growing population. To be recognised by future business and industry as a city worth investing in, opening up opportunities for employment and population growth.' Bruce, Kingston Creativeandinnovative
  • 13. 9Logan 2026 designers and writers. Collaborative in nature and supported by local businesses, these creative hot- houses now produce ground- breaking designs and inventions, well-matched to new growth opportunities and market niches. GENERATING A WEALTH OF CULTURE Creative minds congregate in Logan City and enrich our businesses and culture. Our community supports numerous arts and cultural programs, helping to enhance our cultural experiences and increase participation in the arts. Business, government and education partnerships have increased access to education, training and mentoring programs such as school-to-work and skilled workforce initiatives, responsive to Logan City’s employment needs. This has increased workforce participation, productivity and economic growth. Online courses and tutoring are now widely available through libraries, schools and businesses, providing a multitude of opportunities for lifelong learning. Logan City’s artistic ingenuity and local inventiveness partner with industry and commerce to produce innovative products and services, cutting edge technologies, and exciting artistic and cultural events. It is a flourishing and prosperous city. ‘In the future, I wish to see a community that's able to work together.’ Kirsten 14, Loganlea ‘Areas need community centres so the residents can mingle and ideas begin to emerge... The ideas part needs to come from the people.’ Wendy, Loganholme ‘With all this advancement in Logan I think it would be a great place to live.’ Philomena 12, Park Ridge
  • 14. 10 Logan 2026 Theme 3 Green and sustainable In 2026, Logan is a green city. We are renowned for our stewardship of the natural environment. Most of us live in urban hubs or smaller community-minded villages, enjoying the benefits of ecologically-sensitive buildings and commercially vibrant surroundings while keeping a strong connection with nature. GREEN AND GROWING We have found the balance between managing our city’s growth and enhancing our natural environment. This, combined with educational programs and campaigns, has created a high level of awareness and respect for the environment among Logan residents. We have established a network of green corridors thriving with local native vegetation and wildlife. Natural habitats are safeguarded against further development and enhanced by re-vegetation and animal welfare initiatives. As well as protecting areas of environmental significance, Council continues to maintain and improve our parks and recreational open space. Council also supports the city’s ‘slow food’ culture, encouraging our now-familiar backyard vegetable patches, urban community gardens and local produce markets. ACTING RESPONSIBLY Logan City is drought-proof. Collaborating with other regional authorities, Council implemented a total water-cycle management system that enhances the quality and quantity of our water resources and helps maintain the health of our Logan and Albert Rivers. Community and industry have advanced the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle with incentive schemes such as compost exchange programs that enable us to achieve optimal waste management practices for our city. Innovative ideas continue to enhance our water and waste management practices. 'I love and fully support our local parks... Walking, jogging and bike tracks, gym equipment, playground, dog fence and open space is what we should strive to create.' Lee-Anne, Loganholme Greenandsustainable
  • 15. 11Logan 2026 Our community is better prepared and also has greater resilience to natural events and disasters. BECOMING AN ECO-CITY Eco-friendly design and proactive legislation has spurred innovative new ways to build. Developments now offer a diverse range of affordable water and energy efficient choices for home or business. Community, commercial and recreational activities are focused around public transport hubs. These mini-cities incorporate higher density, green roofed and leafy village precincts surrounded by safe, activity-based green-space facilities. Extensive walking and cycling tracks, affordable and accessible public transport, neighbourhood shuttle services, effective home automation and high-speed digital networks have all combined to give us unprecedented flexibility in how, when and where we live, work and play. CLEANER, GREENER INDUSTRY Green technologies and knowledge-based enterprises such as advanced manufacturing have come to the fore. The combination of innovative waste management practices and more efficient use of energy sources like wind, solar, hydro and thermal, have reduced dangerous emissions, pollution and excess consumption of resources. Noise pollution is down and air quality has dramatically improved. Working together, community and government have reduced our footprint and enhanced our natural environment. Logan City is fast becoming an eco-city. ‘We have a young family and moved to Logan due to its green and conservation spaces.’ Angela, Logan Central ‘Logan City is a great place to live. I like that we have great wildlife and lots of bushland. We have clean air and no smog. If you chop down a tree you must plant a new one.’ Taylor 11, Forestdale
  • 16. IS THIS THE FUTURE? ‘Logan City is a really good place to live. A lot of us are kind, friendly and helpful.’ Maddy 10, Boronia Heights ‘I would like to see more use of solar and windpower energy and public transport in more directions.’ Martha, Hillcrest ‘Logan City in the future will be a great place to live in. In the future I will see natural things and more animals in Logan too. There will be a little number of cars, I will be seeing bikes or people walking, or bus and train transport only.’ Lyn 7, Springwood
  • 18. 14 Logan 2026 Theme 4 Inclusive and vibrant In 2026, Logan is a friendly and welcoming city. We share ideas and aspirations and support everyone towards full community participation. Cultural diversity is welcomed and celebrated. IT'S ALL ABOUT OUR PEOPLE Logan City is a place where everyone is valued and included, regardless of age and gender, mental and physical ability. Here people of different cultures, backgrounds and belief systems actively engage and contribute to the shaping of our city. Interwoven with this is an acknowledgement of the special relationship and spiritual connection our Indigenous people have with the land. Government and community work together through participatory planning, ensuring all social groups are involved and responsible for the decisions which create our future. FAIR AND JUST Village precincts maintain the sense of individual and community identity. The city’s public areas and facilities are accessible, with ease of mobility for all people. People feel safe and confident to enjoy all aspects of everyday life. Greater engagement across and between communities has brought people together. By respecting difference, working to increase awareness of social justice issues and offering practical help and resources, our community has gained strength and participation levels have increased. ‘In the future there will be improved housing, lots of employed people and a cleaner city to attract new members of the community...It will be the greatest place to relax, raise kids and to live.’ Masson 15, Kingston Inclusiveandvibrant
  • 19. 15Logan 2026 Public assistance, social support groups and healthcare services are adequately funded, widely available and user friendly. Cooperation between government and developers has made housing affordable and appropriate. An innovative and diverse mix of housing options now meets the needs of all households. AN INTERCULTURAL CITY There are strong working partnerships between local businesses, education providers and public venues that have established a flourishing arts community. The city showcases emerging local talent and enjoys greater access to creative artistry through an extensive range of cultural events, exhibitions, festivals and performances. Inter-generational and inter-cultural experiences continue to enrich us all. Logan City is now a vibrant multicultural destination renowned for its fantastic food, art, fashion and shopping. ‘Logan City could be a fantastic place to be if good choices were made to help everybody.’ Ashleigh 10, Boronia Heights ‘I would like to change some things in the future... But most of all, friends and family and cousins are still the same.’ Courtney 9, Regents Park
  • 20. 16 Logan 2026 Theme 5 Regionally and globally connected In 2026, Logan is a seamless, connected city. At home and work we connect and interact regionally and globally. Logan City’s ability to embrace new technology enables us to easily communicate who we are, what we have and what we do best. Equally, we welcome new ideas, beliefs and cultures. Connectivity has given our community a greater sense of identity and belonging. GETTING SMARTER As we embraced cutting-edge technologies, online community portals were created to link local businesses with education providers, growing our local economy by targeting best-fit education and training programs and work-skill upgrades. Next-generation networks have allowed Logan City to build strong connections and international trade relations, ensuring our economic success. New networks have reinforced our links with our many sister and friendship cities, generating new possibilities for cultural and economic exchange. Improved online services enhance flexibility and increase security in work practices, supporting an ever- increasing number of home-based businesses and teleworkers. Online retail and community services lessen our reliance on cars, further reducing stress and demand on our transport system. TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS Development of key transport hubs has given everyone access to safe, comfortable, reliable public transport, integrating bus and rail connections. Our road network now reflects our intracity and intercity needs. Once designed solely for the car, roads are more accessible and multi-functional, supporting cycling, walking, car pooling and priority bus services. These physical links across our city, and to other cities, flow together as an integrated and effective transport network. ‘My vision of Logan City in 2026 is that there should be more helpful technology.’ Hamondeep 9, Woodridge Regionallyandgloballyconnect-
  • 21. 17Logan 2026 INTEGRATED SERVICES Our commitment to a more responsive and transparent government has delivered highly efficient customer service, meeting community needs. Huge advances in e-governance have forged closer links between government agencies and the community, delivering a comprehensive range of online services, reducing road use and saving time. Major upgrades to infrastructure, such as water, power, roads and telecommunications have integrated Logan City seamlessly into our regional networks. We are a connected city: socially, economically, culturally and physically. ‘I would love our Logan to look like this because it's a better environment and things are closer, there are easier roadways and therefore people are closer.’ Jenni 15, Meadowbrook ‘Life will be very different and Logan City will have changed a lot by the time 2026 gets here. We will most likely be living in “smart homes”, which will include many new inventions... The technology will become so much better, I can't wait!’ Emily 10, Boronia Heights
  • 22. 18 Logan 2026 Our commitment to making it happen Logan 2026 City Directions is the vision for our city and encapsulates our goals and aspirations for the future. It is also the framework for managing our city’s growth and development and shows Logan City Council’s commitment to a set of strategic directions for future priorities and actions. Council’s commitment is expressed in the form of the following responses to each of the five themes. In order to foster a more active and healthy community, Council will commit to promoting and supporting safe, active and healthy lifestyles through a well designed and integrated city. For us to be more creative and innovative, Council will promote cultural and artistic creativity and encourage economic and technological innovation. To become a more green and sustainable city, Council will protect and manage our natural and built environments using sustainable development principles. In aspiring to be a more inclusive and vibrant city, Council will encourage greater social and cultural participation in the community. To be a regionally and globally connected city, Council will support the development of integrated networks and infrastructure. Logan 2026 City Directions provides an overarching framework for strategic planning, policy development and the delivery of council services over the next two decades. The vision, themes and directions identified will guide the preparation of Logan City Council’s long- term strategies and corporate plans (see Figure 1 on next page). Logan City Council is committed to: • aligning its corporate planning, budgetary process and service delivery to achieving this vision; • working with other levels of government, the community and business to realise this vision; and • reporting progress and ongoing reviews and improvements of the priorities identified. It can only be achieved if we all work together to achieve this shared vision. ‘It looks great and sounds it, now if only we can make it happen.’ Aaron, Rochedale South ‘Our school very much wants to be part of making Logan City what it is now and what it will be in the future.’ Terrence, Groves Christian College ‘We look forward to being involved as the youth of Logan to implementing it.’ Nathan, Logan City Youth Council

  • 24. 20 Logan 2026 My Thoughts I always think to myself How will we be in the future? How will we eat, think, live and look? And will it matter if your dress doesn’t suit ya? I ask myself this question every day So I thought I might sit down and think it through Now I have come up with a solution to this I’ve decided the future is really up to you. Go outside and plant a tree for our wonderful earth Or sit back and watch the world turn grey But by planting a tree, I guarantee You’ll have a better day. So maybe there will be flying cars To match the hovering house you bought But don’t just sit and listen to this Or else it’s just my thoughts. Poem by Deni, 14 Springwood ‘Logan City has the perfect opportunity right now to seize the future. It’s a young city, relatively untrammelled by the twentieth century. It has the vision, the energy, and the people to do it and do it well. We must not serve our own short-term gain or political advantage. We must serve nothing less than the big vision itself: a city that is genuine, wholesome, and worth calling home.’ Ged, Slacks Creek
