It is a vehicle that can drive it
self from one point to another
point with assistant from a
driver .
In other words , can say with an
auto pilot system .
 Driver error is the most common cause of traffic
accidents .
 Cell phone in cars ,entertainment system ,more
traffic and more complicated system making it
more frequent.
 By this improving technology this car will do
concentrating for us.
 Nevada dept. of motor vehicles issued
The first license for Autonomous car
in may 2012 .
 The license was issued to a Toyota prius
Modified with Google s experimental
Driver less technology.
 The project is currently being led by Sebastian
Thrun Director of Stanford artificial intelligence
Laboratory .
 2005 DARPA grand challenge winner.
 Thus Techgient Google start their project .
 Integrates Google maps with various hardware
sensors and intelligence software
 Google maps :- provides the car with road
information and see limits , traffic report ,
directions .
 Hardware sensors :- provide the car with real time
environment conditions .
 Artificial Intelligence :- provide the car with real
time decision.
 RADAR
 Optics (video camera)
 LIDAR
 GPS
 Processors
 Wheel speed sensors
 Traditional sensors are used to detect dangerous
objects in the vehicles path that are more than 100
meters away.
 A Camera is mounted near the rear
view mirror build a real 3D image of
the road ahead ,spotting hazards
like pedestrians and animals .
It also used to identify road signals.
 The LIGHT DETECTION AND RANGING (Lidar) is
mounted in the roof the vehicle is the most important
device in autonomous vehicles .

Also measures the
Reflected pulses with
A sensor
 A Global positioning system keeps the car on its
intended rute with accuracy of 30 cm .
 Some dual-core 2.13 GHz processors and 2 GB
RAM are needed to collect data by cars
instruments .
 Wheel speed sensors measures the road wheel
speed and direction of rotation.
 Google maps and hardware sensors data are sent to
the AI .
 AI then determines .
 How fast to accelerate
 When to slow down / stop .
 When to steer the wheel .
The agents goal is to take the passenger to its
destination safely and legally .
 Managing traffic flow increase rod capacity .
 The current location of vehicle can determined using
GPS.
 It will be of great help to people who are physically
challenged.
 So many taxi drivers lost their jobs .
 Hackers can change the route which is ploted in
system (in rare case ).
 In failing of main sensor and backup sensors the
vehicle can create a chance of accident .
Very useful
 Vehicle could be ready for market in as little as
three to five years .
 According to WHO organization more than 1.2
million lives are lost every year in road traffic
accidents .
 We believe our technology has the potential to cut
that number perhaps as much as half .
