director
The music video was directed by Jim Canty and
Jake-Sebastian Wynne.
Jim Canty and Jake-Sebastian Wynne. Have also
directed music videos for the likes of Feeder,
Stereophonics and Faithless.

4. Camera work
Long shots, mid shots and close ups are all used
to show the ranges of emotion from the judges
to the boys loving Geri to Geri herself. A low
shot is also used on Geri (looking at her from
below) showing that she has the power to the
audience. Furthermore a lot of close ups are
used to show of Geri’s new body and new look.

5. Narrative
• The narrative of the music video was that at
the start it was a boring audition but when
Geri comes in she brightens it up and within
no time she has the boys chasing after her and
everyone dancing in the street showing the
consumer the power Geri has and
furthermore the fact Geri is the protagonist.

6. Representation
• Geri Halliwell is represented particularly
through voyeurism, with a skinny blonde girl
wearing next to nothing her body is defiantly
an appeal to hopefully draw people into
watching the music video. This also links onto
Laura Mulveys Male Gaze showing Geri
Halliwell as a typical blonde girl. Also at the
start of the movie and old man is looking at
Geri setting the scene to the reader through
the male gaze.

7. Mise en scene
Although Geri is made out to be very sexy
through the mise en scene there are also other
aspects shown of Geri throughout the movie
trailer. Firstly the scene with Geri’s dog
connotating to the audience that she is kind and
loving. Also in the movie trailer when Geri is
doing ballet in the white dress also connotating
to the audience that Geri can also be very
elegant appealing to a wide range of audiences.

8. Intertextuality
Geris video is very similar to Jlos, Geri has taken
the base of Jlos idea and created it into her own
music video to show off her new body and the
new her this is called intertexuality.
