Increase Tier 1& 2 spend
- “Companies under $1 million in annual revenue tend to hire
people that look like them, have between 5-10 employees and
are from the same physical community. Increasing their
business… not only result in job creation, but further promotes
goodwill among their employees.”
- Introduce more strong diverse suppliers into procurement

standards section (page3)
• To support a competitive bidding process, we include minority and diverse
suppliers within our purchasing process
– Under Competitive Selection Process (page7) alter current statement.
• Include at least one diverse supplier in purchases between $15,000-$25,000
and above $25,000
▶ Utilize minority supplier advocate councils

Top level commitment will provide credibility to the initiative internally + externally.
A supplier Diversity Council made of minority suppliers and our bigger suppliers. Get to talk about future contracts, build relationships, offer advice and educational programs
Identify Supplier diversity champs within departments that acquire larger amounts of spend
Website speaks about our goals
Many of our main suppliers do contract out work to tier 2 suppliers. But if we set stipulations coaxing them to do business with diverse groups at a certain spend we could see increase in minority spend. Explain examples
The partnership helps create a bigger pool of vendors for us to choose from. Can use these partnerships to relay information about potential and upcoming contract bids.
