Hello and welcome to this hangout on air from
Suntico. Today Sage 50? Online? Of course!
My name is Hugh Johnson and I am the head of business development at Suntico.
On the agenda today if we are talking about Sage 50 online - what do we mean by Sage 50 online?
There are truly many different interpretations. Once I have explained why Suntico is not what you might think of as a conventional Sage 50 online solution, but it is a solution that I believe can help you to decuple the value of your investment in Sage.
Decuple means multiply by ten. Applied in the correct way Suntico can increase the value of your investment with Sage by a factor of ten. That leads us on to the next point in the agenda which is what is Suntico?
Finally I will wrap up with how to get started.
So firstly what do we mean by Sage 50 online? It can mean many things. If I said to you get your Sage 50 online you might think maybe I will look for a hosted solution. I might be talking about getting mobile access because to some people, mobile and online means the same thing. I might be talking about using some kind of remote access software like LogMeIn or GoToMyPC or TeamViewer to access my Sage 50 client software that is running in my office when I am out of the office or maybe using an iPad at home. I might be talking about using Sage on a client machine at home or in a remote office and using some kind of virtual private network or VPN connection into my office to access my Sage 50 data. All of these things could be described as getting your Sage 50 online but none of these things describe what Suntico is. Because Suntico is something quite different. If what you are looking is a hosted, remote access or VPN solution to get access to your Sage 50 then go ahead and do this.
That is not what Suntico is. Before I explain what Suntico is, I want to explain the problem that we are trying to solve and for whom. An exercise I did was to plot US company productivity by company size. I took these figures from the US Business Census Bureau and I plotted revenue per payroll cost against company size. What you get is this kind of bathtub effect, where right at the bottom of this bathtub, where the water runs out at the lowest ebb of productivity are companies employing ten to a hundred people. These are companies that tend to be at the higher end of the Sage 50 user base. This is nothing to do with Sage 50 because it is companies this size that struggle with collaboration, they struggle with communication, they struggle with basic inter-employee connections and struggle with the ability to share and find information across the organisation.
And that is the problem that Suntico solves and it starts solving that problem with your Sage 50 data because in a company this size, using Sage 50 your Sage 50 records are actually typically the best set of records that the company has anywhere so what a great place to start in terms of sharing information and collaborating company wide. Suntico is an online system that enables you to connect people across the company and share your data, share your Sage 50 data, access your Sage 50 data, plus more, enrich that data and find information and collaborate on tasks together and put your Sage 50 data assets to work and it is by putting those Sage 50 data assets to work across the company that we believe we can decuple the value of your investment in Sage 50.
So let's take a quick look at what I mean by that. Here I am logged in to Suntico. If you use Sage 50 US Edition you will be familiar with this sample company Bellwether garden Supply. Firstly you will notice that this looks nothing like Sage 50. It is nothing like Sage 50. Except that is full of Sage 50 data. We have accounts, contacts addresses, product information, sales information, purchase information all coming up from Sage 50 in the background. Suntico is a cloud web-based application that you can access through any web mobile device and tablet. It works extremely well on an iPad. It provides web and mobile access to your Sage 50 data. It is not Sage 50 on the web. Or Sage 50 Online. But it is online access to your Sage data. What about control of data access to your Sage data? I am logged in as the administrator. I can control all of the users and what they can see and do. If I pick on Susan Prichard. She is defined as an in-house sales representative. I can also define what companies she can access. I will not allow her to have access to all of the accounts within the system. I will just allow her to have access to her own accounts. If she were a sales manager, I could also give her access to all the accounts within a sales territory or sales account team. If log back in as Susan and if I go to My Business and drill down to look at the accounts, what I see is that I only have access to five account records and those are the account records that I look after. The same would be true for any Sales Information. I would not see any purchase information because there are no vendor accounts that are nominated against me. So we have very tight control over user access to different accounts within your Sage 50 system. If I log back in as the administrator on the account and if your remember previously, Susan had five accounts. No I am logged in as Delores, I can see 81 different accounts. That is how I have control over the Sage 50 data access. I can also find information very easily. I can use this free-text search. It is a quick way of finding information. I can also use bookmarks for any record - not just accounts, I can bookmark transactions. These are personal to me, so when I go in to say a list of accounts or transactions, my bookmarked items automatically appear at the top of the screen. I can also create personalized lists. These are dynamic lists based on filtered criteria. I can follow a list, so as customers come in and out of the lists based on their behaviour, I automatically get notified about events that are happening with these customers. So I have talked about controlling access to the system, about finding information. The next thing I wanted to talk about was enriching the data, so it is not just Sage data I have. I can add additional information. I can create additional account or prospect records, additional contacts. I can add tags to contacts and accounts or transactions. I can share information - rather like on FaceBook. We have the concept of Walls. Every record in the system has its own wall, just like every user on Facebook has their own timeline. I can just share information, files, links, notes. I can direct a notification to other users and link this to an account or transaction in the system. Anyone that is following that account will see this. After sharing the information, I can start collaborating. Start to create tasks that are linked to records in the system. I can create different types of tasks. Please collect check . I can link to an invoice. I can assign the task to another user. That task will appear within the record of the account and of the invoice.
