2. Who was he? Mansa Musa was the king of Mali from 1312 to 1332. he made Mali one of the most important countries in the sub Sahara trade route. He took control of the two most powerful items in the ancient African world, gold and salt. Those two alone where so powerful that they were sometimes used as currency. By taking control of gold AND salt he made Mali a very rich country.
4. why is he "famous"? he is very well known for his hajj. He was a very devout Muslim and all Muslims have to take a hajj (a trip to Mecca) once in they’re life. On his trip he gave away gold, and a lot of it. Apparently he gave away so much gold on his trip he had to get a loan on the way back, he paid it back very generously. On his hajj he stopped in Cairo, Egypt he gave away so much gold it supposedly took 12 to 20 years for prices to get back to normal.
6. the life of mansa musa as you know Mansa Musa was a very generous person. Since it is a pillar of Islam he always gave to the poor and needy. He acted just like you would expect from a rich king. There were always hundreds of guards following him where ever he went. He also had a band of musicians following him playing beautiful music. You always knew if he was coming.
