Ben Stokes Born on 4 June 1991 in Christchurch, New Zealand, Benjamin Andrew
Stokes is the son of rugby league player Gerald Stokes, who represented New Zealand in
international rugby league. His sublime talent was evident from an early age and it was
no surprise that he signed a 2-year county contract with Durham at the age of 18.He
made his ODI debut against Surrey in 2009 and marked the occasion by trapping Mark
Ramprakash with his third delivery in FC Cricket. He played 2 youth tests against
Bangladesh. Excellent performance with both his bowling and batting. His talent was
noticed in the 2010 U-19 WC where he registered a century against India. He scored his
first fifty in 2010 in the season opener against MCC in Abu Dhabi and took one wicket.
Indian Premier League
Ben stokes A genuine seam-bowling all-rounder with the ability to hit the big shots, he is
invaluable in the T20 competition. Hence, it came as no surprise when Ben Stokes
performed brilliantly in the 2017 IPL auction. He was picked by Rising Pune Supergiants
and in his debut IPL season, the charismatic Englishman showed why he was worth all
the money. He was a gun bowler for RPS, especially at the death where he executed
yorkers and other variations to good effect. With the bat too, he single-handedly won a few
games, including an IPL century which was ranked as the knock of the tournament.
With over 300 runs and over 10 wickets, Stokes had a stellar 2017 season and was
arguably the most valuable player of the season. In the new IPL auction of 2018, he once
again attracted a huge number of Rajasthan Royals and was bought in a very expensive
deal. However, Ben Stokes could not get going with neither the bat nor the ball during this
period and remained below par in both the seasons (2018 and 2019).
World Cup 2019-Ben Stokes felt every bit of human emotion on 14th July 2019. England
had taken the game into the Super Over and it was Ben Stokes who faced the last ball
with two runs needed. He came out to bat again during the Super Over and scored 8 runs
from 3 balls to help England reach 15 runs in the one over eliminator. With 16 to win, New
Zealand also managed to score 15, but lost the finale on the boundary count-back rule.
England were crowned and Ben Stokes was the man of the match. Stokes also scored 5
half-centuries during the 2019 campaign and was always the man to make the difference
at the end of the innings, and Ben Stokes was the only player to play a key role in taking
England to the final.
Stokes is at his peak right now and nothing could have been better for the left-handed
batsman than when he scored an unbeaten 135 during the Ashes and his last-wicket
partnership with Jack Leach to seal the victory.
