GENDER ISSUES IN MANAGEMENT EDUCATION
 – A study on employability and gender issues
            in managerial positions

IDENTIFACTION OF THE PROBLEM
 Employability and gender aspects in managerial positions.
 Need for redefining the management education curriculum
OBJECTIVES
 The achievement pattern of different sex’s over their career
    span of life and educational span of life.
   Individuals self perceptions, emotions and ambitions.
   Risk factors of men and women in terms of specialization as
    well as learning capacity .
   Caution of underachieving - partially considered on the basis
    of gender at education and work.
    in born sex differences and acquired characteristics.
   Male and female behavior at work and in classroom sessions.
SCOPE AND SIGNIFACANCE
 Demand for managers who have strategic approach towards
  management crisis.
 Quality of education is the base of employability.
 Acute consideration should be provided for gender dynamics
  and stereotyping that exist in the management education.
LITERATURE REVIEW
 Management education in India – need for quality standards
  – by Dr.Manu.N.Kulkarni
Stressed on –
a. Quality of Faculty recruited
b. Quality of Infrastructure provided
c. Quality of Library and brainstorming discussion groups
    and seminars led by top Professional Management Gurus
d. Last but not the least is the placement provided by the
    Institutes based on industry needs .
LITERATURE REVIEW
 Gender Issues – Oxford Brooks University
It stressed on –
a. the patterns of achievement of males and females over their
      lifetimes, and not just their educational lifetimes
b. pupils’ self perceptions, motivation and ambitions insofar
      as these seem to be influenced by their gender
c. the risks of boys and girls being gender stereotyped in
      school, in terms of their subject specialism's, learning
      capacity etc.
d. the danger of their underachieving, at least partially on the
      basis of their gender.
SPECIFYING THE RESEARCH PURPOSE
 This study is sought to determine the major gender issues
  that has been confronting in the management education. It
  also seeks to tease out the various deficiencies that exist in
  the management education. It also explains how to deal with
  these issues and by that ensuring employability and avoiding
  gender bias.
METHODOLOGY
     Questionnaire method – Target questions :
Target question where designed to conduct this study because
it demands an investigative questioning as it leads to core
issues of management education which is a too specific study.
Questions includes structured questions.
Research Questions
 In order to achieve the purpose of the study, the questions
  were generated.
 The data generated will help to unravel the major challenges
  in management education in respect to gender issues.
 The data generated will help in evolving appropriate
  measures and alternatives and that will enable academicians
  to compact the problems and make employable managers.
 In addition the data generated will also help to expand the
  frontiers of knowledge or add to the existing literature in the
  area.
Research Questions
 Finally it is hoped that the outcome of the study will help in
  making breakthrough changes in the management education
  and an solution to gender bias that exist.
REPORTING AND EVALUVATING
                RESEARCH
 The result of the investigation revealed that there does not
    exist an inequality of gender in the management education.
   Gender has never been a barrier in the career life span.
   There do exist a stereotyping in the management education
    while taking specialization which are due to prejudiced
    thoughts of the society.
   Male and female behavior at work and classroom are
    different because there does not exist gender dynamics.
   Acquired characteristics and in born sex difference have only
    partial influence, it does not effect much on the performance
    level.
CONCLUSION
 The results of the study have helped to throw light into a new
  dimension of management education and has become a
  solution to eradicate the dilemma that exist in the
  management education with respect to gender aspects
 Study demands for a redefining of the management
  education.
 Following ways can help in dealing the gender issues in the
  management education
 Be acutely sensitive to the gender dynamics in your
    classroom.
CONCLUSION
 Encourage all students to speak.
 Provide all students with a lot of feedback and
  encouragement.
 Be attentive to differences in communication styles
 Rethink

  • 1. GENDER ISSUES IN MANAGEMENT EDUCATION – A study on employability and gender issues in managerial positions PRESENTED BY VISHNU.VISWAMBHARAN AND CREMELIN VENUS
  • 2. IDENTIFACTION OF THE PROBLEM  Employability and gender aspects in managerial positions.  Need for redefining the management education curriculum
  • 3. OBJECTIVES  The achievement pattern of different sex’s over their career span of life and educational span of life.  Individuals self perceptions, emotions and ambitions.  Risk factors of men and women in terms of specialization as well as learning capacity .  Caution of underachieving - partially considered on the basis of gender at education and work.  in born sex differences and acquired characteristics.  Male and female behavior at work and in classroom sessions.
  • 4. SCOPE AND SIGNIFACANCE  Demand for managers who have strategic approach towards management crisis.  Quality of education is the base of employability.  Acute consideration should be provided for gender dynamics and stereotyping that exist in the management education.
  • 5. LITERATURE REVIEW  Management education in India – need for quality standards – by Dr.Manu.N.Kulkarni Stressed on – a. Quality of Faculty recruited b. Quality of Infrastructure provided c. Quality of Library and brainstorming discussion groups and seminars led by top Professional Management Gurus d. Last but not the least is the placement provided by the Institutes based on industry needs .

LITERATURE REVIEW  Gender Issues – Oxford Brooks University It stressed on – a. the patterns of achievement of males and females over their lifetimes, and not just their educational lifetimes b. pupils’ self perceptions, motivation and ambitions insofar as these seem to be influenced by their gender c. the risks of boys and girls being gender stereotyped in school, in terms of their subject specialism's, learning capacity etc. d. the danger of their underachieving, at least partially on the basis of their gender.
  • 7. SPECIFYING THE RESEARCH PURPOSE  This study is sought to determine the major gender issues that has been confronting in the management education. It also seeks to tease out the various deficiencies that exist in the management education. It also explains how to deal with these issues and by that ensuring employability and avoiding gender bias.
  • 8. METHODOLOGY Questionnaire method – Target questions : Target question where designed to conduct this study because it demands an investigative questioning as it leads to core issues of management education which is a too specific study. Questions includes structured questions.
  • 9. Research Questions  In order to achieve the purpose of the study, the questions were generated.  The data generated will help to unravel the major challenges in management education in respect to gender issues.  The data generated will help in evolving appropriate measures and alternatives and that will enable academicians to compact the problems and make employable managers.  In addition the data generated will also help to expand the frontiers of knowledge or add to the existing literature in the area.
  • 10. Research Questions  Finally it is hoped that the outcome of the study will help in making breakthrough changes in the management education and an solution to gender bias that exist.
  • 11. REPORTING AND EVALUVATING RESEARCH  The result of the investigation revealed that there does not exist an inequality of gender in the management education.  Gender has never been a barrier in the career life span.  There do exist a stereotyping in the management education while taking specialization which are due to prejudiced thoughts of the society.  Male and female behavior at work and classroom are different because there does not exist gender dynamics.  Acquired characteristics and in born sex difference have only partial influence, it does not effect much on the performance level.

CONCLUSION  The results of the study have helped to throw light into a new dimension of management education and has become a solution to eradicate the dilemma that exist in the management education with respect to gender aspects  Study demands for a redefining of the management education.  Following ways can help in dealing the gender issues in the management education  Be acutely sensitive to the gender dynamics in your classroom.
