2. • Although there are consensus guidelines to manage pediatric cardiac
arrest, real world team performance often deviates from these
guidelines due to poor teamwork, resulting in poor outcomes.
• A cognitive aid “reader” is a team member who follows the cognitive
aid, conveys information to the team leader and lets them know if they
are deviating from the protocol.
• A novel promising solution for successful management of crisis
scenarios is called the Cognitive Aids for Role Definition (CARD)
system.
• Integrate the knowledge-based and team-based cognitive aids, in
order to delineate the synergistic effect of integrating the CARD
system with knowledge-based cognitive aids or “reader”.
