We want machine readable data,
because we can then:
● Easily import data into a spreadsheet
● Quickly build our own graphs.
● Perform analysis that we are
interested in.
17. 3.3 Benefit #2 (Increase value, reduce costs)
1. (Costs): IT Direct Costs: PDF System - License costs, Cost of Changes, Upgrade &
Support Costs.
2. (Value): But the Key Question is: “Who actually uses the PDF documents
published on the web site ? ”
a. Hospital Managers - NO
b. Minister for Health - ? < Why not use the Hospital Waiting List Dashboard ? >
-> Publish Open Data at the monthly level, allow stakeholder groups to aggregate as
required.
A Strategic Implementation of an Open Data based approach can reduce IT costs, while
also providing increased capability for decision makers and civil society.
