These guidelines provide instructions for authors submitting manuscripts for publication in the IPPTA PEER REVIEWED Journal. Original research articles and concise reviews related to science, technology, and applications in the paper industry are invited. Manuscripts must be in English and cover topics such as raw materials, pulping, papermaking, the environment, and process optimization. Authors should follow a specific format for title, author names, abstract, keywords, sections, references, tables, and figures. The manuscript will undergo peer review to evaluate the technical merit and suitability for the journal before potential publication.

inthefollowingorder:
The manuscript should be written clearly in a concise form. The text should not be
repetitive and should confine only to the scope of the subject matter; normally an article
should be limited to a maximum of 6000 words or 8 printed pages. Any article exceeding
the limit is liable for rejection or may be sent back for being suitably compressed before
being sent to referees for their opinion. The condensation or editing of the contents of
the paper (s) is solely the responsibility of the author(s) and not of the Editor(s) of IPPTA.

The title of the paper should be typed in Capital Letters, 14 point, bold and placed
centrally. The title is the key as to whether or not a paper is to be read. Therefore, the title
should be brief, catchy if possible and should contain key words of the contents of the
paper. Don't frame a title exceeding 12/15 words. A lengthy title is likely to be miscopied,
misquotedanddistorted.

The Abstract at the beginning of the paper should be informative, not merely
indicative. It should briefly state the purpose of the work, significant results and
conclusions in a way that is useful for indexing and abstracting service providers and
gives a bird's eye view to a reader as well. The length of the abstract should not exceed
200 words. Abbreviations should be avoided. References should therefore be avoided,
but if essential, they must be cited in full, without reference to the reference list. Non-
standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided but, if essential, they should
bedefinedattheirfirstmentionintheabstractitself.
Addresses (including e-mail addresses) at the time of publication should be given for
each author in a separate paragraph after the Abstract. A Corresponding author should

This covers description of the problem investigated, why the article has been written,
review of pertinent literature, method of investigation, and aim of the work without giving
toolengthybackground.Usuallynoresultsarementionedintheintroduction.
An extension to the introduction is the literature review. Each literature referred should be
numbered in order of their first appearance in the text. These numbers should be placed in
parenthesis and follow the cited author's name. e.g. while discussing the tear mode in an
enplaneteartester,Pageetal(1)andVandenAkkeretal(2)havepointedoutthat………….
Full details of all the experiments should be given, so that they can be checked by the
reader. Results should not be reported here. The method of problem solution,
experimental procedure, sampling technique, statistical analysis, materials used and
other information necessary to depict properly the subsequent results and conclusions
are to be placed in this section. Never write lengthy description of the analytical
procedure used. Just mention the source of reference for testing pulp and paper and as
well as fibrous and non-fibrous raw material. Follow either one of the following
standards: ISI, ISO, TAPPI, SCAN, APPITA or DIN. Give the clear official number of the
testingprocedure.
Representative data should be presented and discussed. Methods should not be described
here. Discuss interpretation of results, principles and relationships, and connections to

A more extensive description of significance and conclusions, not exceeding 200 words,
should be given at the end of the paper. Conclusions and recommendations should be
presented in clear, crisp sentences. Avoid the temptation of rambling at the end of the
paper. If the numbers of conclusions drawn or the recommendations suggested are too
many,listthemintheorderofimportance.
If the work is done at a sponsored laboratory or involves the propriety of a company or if
the project is financed by an institution or company, please insert appropriate
acknowledgement at the end. It should be brief and meaningful for special assistance

All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references following the

submitted for publication should be avoided. Reference to publications that are
"Accepted for publication" is allowed with an appropriate indication of where they are to

original must be given the original source, but should be mentioned if the abstract only

Tables should be numbered consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the
text and given suitable captions. Be sparing in the use of tables and ensure that the data
presented in tables do not duplicate results described elsewhere, for example in figures,
inthearticle.
Also place each table on a separate sheet under the captionTABLE, written in capital and
placed centrally with appropriate number. Set below the TABLE, title of the table in
capitals. Keep the tables as simple as possible. Omit all the irrelevant data. Complicated
tables are extremely difficult to reproduce and often cannot be reduced to printable size.
A common logic is thata long table is always skipped by the readers because it is tedious,
leading to boredom. Try to put only the salient data in the table (with their proper

References to Your Work:
Submitting Revisions
Authorsretaincopyrightoftheirwork.IPPTArequireswrittenpermissionfromtheauthor
to publish the work in print, electronically, and in other formats. IPPTA Publisher's
Agreement is a fillable form that requires the signature of the copyright owner, author or
person signing on behalf of an employer. This form is required to be signed after
acceptanceofthemanuscriptandbeforepublicationofthemanuscriptintheJournal.
One of the most frequent mistakes we see in manuscript submissions is incomplete
manuscriptblinding.Manymanuscriptsarereceivedwithauthoridentifyinginformation
that must be removed before they can be sent out for review. Submitting a manuscript
that needs additional blinding can slow down your review process, so here are some
guidelinestohelpyouproduceamanuscriptreadyforanonymousreview.
Title of the paper, author(s), their organization
and acknowledgement should be in a separate page attached to the manuscript for
fair reviewing.
If you must refer to your work or the work of your
coauthors in the text, there are several guidelines that you can follow to help assure that
your manuscript is properly blinded.
Wheneverpossible,referonlytopublishedwork.
Avoid using pronouns that make it obvious that you are the same author(s) responsible
for the referenced work. Any such references will be removed before the manuscript is
sentoutforreview.
"Followingonour1999study(MSAuthor),..."
Avoidreferringthereviewerstoanotherstudyfordetailsofthemethodology.Ifyoufeel
the details are important for the reviewers to know yet there is not room for them in the
manuscript, you may attach a brief discussion of the relevant information that will be
sentoutwithyourmanuscript.
If you must refer to your own work in a way that makes your authorship obvious, you
may substitute "Author citation" for your name in both the citation in the text and the
corresponding entry in the reference list. Doing so will allow you to make sure your
citations are included in the event of eventual publication while allowing for
anonymous reviews. This style is particularly appropriate when referring to
unpublishedworksorany referencethatmightotherwiseclearlyrevealauthorship.
If you are submitting a revision of manuscript that is to undergo another round of
reviews, and you prepare commentsdetailing revisions made to your manuscript, please
besuretoblindthedocumentaccordingtotheguidelinesabove.
IPPTA may refuse to publish a manuscript which does not meet the standards set forth in
theGuidelinesforAuthor(s).
