Dear colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that I would like to welcome you to IQPC’s launch event on “Automotive Lightweight
­Chassis and Frame Design”.
The event could not be timelier. In light of demands for a lower carbon footprint and reduced Co2-emissions
to meet European Union standards, developing and designing light vehicles which are ready for high-volume
­production is becoming increasingly important.
Even though a lot of RD investment is done in areas such as innovative composites and structures, most
­solutions still lack high-volume production potential due to cost-extensive production techniques or material
costs.
However, efficient lightweight chassis and frame designs can also be achieved by analysing saving potentials at
early RD stages or along the production chain. Today’s automotive landscape requires a holistic design and
­development approach that integrates lightweight saving and efficiency needs with an assessment of what
­customers are willing to pay.
With this conference we aim at providing you with a platform for expert exchange and insight, sharing ideas, 	
fruitful networking with your peers and inspiration for your future work.
During the two conference days, the lightweight chassis and frame topic will be covered in expert presentations,
interactive networking sessions, plenary discussions as well as during an informal evening get-together. ­During
the workshop day you have the opportunity to choose the topics of your particular interest and discuss them

The event could not be timelier. In light of demands for a lower carbon footprint and reduced Co2-emissions to meet European Union standards, developing and designing light vehicles which are ready for high-volume ­production is becoming increasingly important. Even though a lot of RD investment is done in areas such as innovative composites and structures, most ­solutions still lack high-volume production potential due to cost-extensive production techniques or material costs. However, efficient lightweight chassis and frame designs can also be achieved by analysing saving potentials at early RD stages or along the production chain. Today’s automotive landscape requires a holistic design and ­development approach that integrates lightweight saving and efficiency needs with an assessment of what ­customers are willing to pay.
