Design Phase – Over Conservatism
• increased experience with growing number
of installations
• less uncertainties in design assumptions
• improved design guidelines
• removing over-conservatism thus
reduction of LCoE
Operational Phase – O&M Decisions
• events or conditions that violate design
assumptions might happen
• each wind turbine will have its unique
history of loads and damage
• quantify structural reserves to take cost-
optimal O&M decisions
