10. PROSTATE CANCER: RESEARCH FINDINGS 50% of men in their 50’s, and 70% of men in their 60’s have some degree of prostate enlargement. Even at the age of 30, up to 25% of men have some prostate cancer cells present. “ It’s not just older men who have prostate cancer cells. (William Fair, Chief of Urology, Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center, New York). Prostate cancer, the most common form of cancer among men, can be either BENIGN or MALIGNANT. Cancer cells are pretty much inevitable in the prostates of men who live to their 70’s and 80’s, but dying of prostate cancer isn’t.

11. In Stage B, the tumor is considered to be within the prostate and can be felt during a DRE. A-D Staging System Stage A is early cancer. The tumor is located within the prostate gland and cannot be felt during a DRE.

12. In Stage C, prostate cancer is more advanced. Stage C indicates that the tumor has spread outside the prostate to some surrounding areas, but not to other organs. This stage of cancer can usually be detected by a DRE. In Stage D, the cancer has spread to the nearby organs and usually to distant sites, such as the bones or lymph nodes.
