Office 365-enterprise-customer-deck

Notes de l'éditeur

  1. This slide talks about the trends driving the future of productivity and what we are hearing from our customers. Use this slide to set the stage for the FOP conversation.Increasingly Challenging Environment Consumerisation of ITInsecure, risky consumer-grade applications installed by enterprise usersDemand for popular capabilities (social networks, IM, blogging, mashups, etc.) at workSharing of enterprise data on public networks (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)Multigenerational workforce3 generations – Boomers (b.1946-1962), GenX (1963-1980), Millennials (b.1981-2000) with different workstyles and attitudes toward technology80 million Millennials in US, 3.6B worldwide – 4 million enter US workforce each yearBoomers deferring retirement, second careersRise of the CloudMain customer concerns: control, security – still questions about cloud in minds of some20% Of Businesses Will Own No IT Assets by 2012Most enterprises looking at hybrid cloud/on-premise deploymentsInfrastructure cost and complexityToo many systems/vendors in data centerAverage $1 B company maintains 48 disparate financial systemsComplicated by M&A activity, need to maintain legacy systemsDiverse and distributed workforceRemote workers – 84% of organisations have a remote workforceIncreasingly sophisticated mobile apps, mobile devicesIncreasing use of contingent staff, contractors, outsourcing
  2. This also fundamentally explains why customers like yourself consider Microsoft when it comes to your productivity solution. There are really three things that we believe separate Microsoft from every other competitor in this space, and why we think you should bet on Microsoft for productivity.1. We’re the only company that is focused on providing the best productivity experience across the PC, the phone, and the browser. Take any competitor in this space—some of them focus on the PC and they have no browser and no phone story. Some of them are completely browser-based. They have no rich client and they have no phone. We believe that your users, and you as users, really do want to use the PC, the phone, and the browser in your daily world. You want to be able to get to your email, no matter what device you’re using. You want to be able to get to your Office documents, no matter what device you’re using. And we’re making that possible with Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, Exchange 2010. We want you to be able to work on your documents, and when someone touches it in the browser, they don’t clobber all of the things that someone did in the rich client. We round-trip the Office documents from the PC, to the phone, to the browser, and back, and nobody else does that. Your investment in Office documents is huge; you do not want to lose that. We’ve also designed this so that we do things in the PC that are unique from the phone and the browser. We do things in the browser that are unique from the PC and the phone. And we do things on the phone that are unique from the PC and the browser. We haven’t just taken our long list of capabilities and turned a bunch of stuff off and stuck it in the browser. When you’re in the browser, you get unique value that the browser brings to you. When you’re on your mobile phone, you can take photos; we’ll automatically drop those photos into your OneNote digital notebook, and that gets synced up over the cloud, and people who are using their PCs and their browsers see those photos. We don’t have that capability on the PC. So, PC, phone, and browser—the best experience for each one of them.2. We give you the cloud on your terms. We don’t give you a technology ultimatum where you must move to the cloud to use our technology. We give it to you on your terms. What does that mean? It means that if you’re like Starbucks, you may continue to use our technology in your headquarters operation on-premises. But Starbucks has rolled out 18,000 laptops to all of their cafes in the United States. Those 18,000 laptops are running Windows 7. And those 18,000 laptops are using Exchange Online and SharePoint Online. And it’s integrated in with their headquarters operations. So you can send email to anyone in the company. But the 18,000 new users, who’ve never had our technology before, now are using our cloud, and the rest of corporate headquarters are actually using the traditional on-premises technology. We have other customers like Coca-Cola Enterprises, who’s gone 100 percent to the cloud and they’re not using any servers when it comes to Exchange and SharePoint. And so you can have the cloud on your terms. We believe that is very, very important, and we’re dedicated to helping you think about how to use the cloud in the most effective way.3. Finally, the third reason we believe that you should bet on Microsoft is because we have the broadest vision for what productivity actually is. Productivity is not about desktop documents. It’s not about word processing and spreadsheets. That was twenty years ago. We believe modern productivity combines the things you see at the bottom of this slide in a very seamless experience.Enterprise Search: We believe modern productivity means enterprise search, great people search, finding people inside your company.Collaboration: It means great collaborationECM: It means enterprise content management. Why do you have different publishing systems for your intranet, and your extranet, and your Internet? You want people to use the office tools they’re familiar with and integrate those with your single enterprise content management system.BI: We believe in self-service BI. Excel, SharePoint, and SQL Server. Making it incredibly easy for you to visualize data, democratize data within your organisation. UC: And of course we believe modern productivity means unified communications. No other company takes this broad of view of what productivity means.

Microsoft has been providing cloud productivity services for over 3 years and we have had great success in the marketplace:40 million+ paying customers of Microsoft Online ServicesOver 9000 business customersMore than 500 government entitiesOver 50% of the Fortune 50070% Exchanging from Notes16,000 partners committed to BPOSGlobal reach: Available in 40 countries and localisedinto 20 languagesDepending on your customer you can pull specific customer references from this site and talk through in this slide: http://infoweb2007/onlineservices/evidence/Pages/CaseStudies.aspxSome of the approved customer quotes:“The move to Microsoft Online Services will help cut operational costs by an estimated 30% and create a variable cost model that will provide increased flexibility in the future.” Ingo Elfering VP, Information Technology Strategy GlaxoSmithKline“Our users consistently rave about the move to Microsoft Online Services, providing familiar, intuitive solutions that we could trust with our business communications.” Chris Millington Global CTO, McDonald’s Corporation“We looked at a variety of cloud-based offerings, and only Microsoft could meet our requirements for reliability. We have already started our rollout, and with Exchange Online, we will consolidate 42 e-mail systems into one, reducing our IT costs by at least 30%.” Olivier Baldassari CIO, Rexel Group
  5. These two are current BPOS customersCoca-Cola:Coca Cola Enterprises opted for the cloud and implemented Microsoft-based hosted worldwide intranet with messaging and collaboration tools. Employees can access their data and information from any device, boost their productivity and focus on their customers.Story: With increasing competition in the marketplace, CCE needed a more effective way to collaborate with their employees, to increase their productivity, to enable better flow of information, and to create more time for sales persons to engage with customers. Their worldwide presence required employees and executives to spend numerous hours on the road every week, travelling to internal meetings. Microsoft Online Services technologies enable CCE to save travel expenses through online meeting tools and collaboration platforms that span time zones and geographiesCase study: http://www.microsoft.com/casestudies/Case_Study_Detail.aspx?casestudyid=4000004584Video: http://www.microsoft.com/showcase/en/US/details/470b9f4c-bac8-4be9-b22a-d1a6953ef6a7QUOTE: " Coca-Cola Enterprises needed to simplify its communication and collaboration technologies to provide better business value to our employees. Microsoft Online gave us the technology to do so and exceeded our expectations." John Key, Assistant Director of Communication and Collaboration Technologies, Coca-Cola EnterprisesStarbucks:Starbucks continues to use Microsoft technology on-premises in their corporate headquarters, while rolling out 18,000 laptops using Exchange Online and SharePoint Online to their store managers.QUOTE: “With the successful rollout of Microsoft Online Services to our North American stores, we have demonstrated that we can go into the ‘cloud’ with confidence.” John Shepard, Director, Global IT Infrastructure Services, StarbucksQUOTE: “It’s important to remember that we rolled out this entire project at a time when the company was under pressure to spend no money at all,” Shepard says. “Our ability to complete the project on time and under budget speaks to the efficiency of Microsoft Online Services and the ease of implementation.”  John Shepard, Director of Global IT Infrastructure Services at Starbucks  QUOTE: “Web-based distribution of new-product materials enables Starbucks to be much more nimble in meeting customer needs,” Shepard adds. “Instead of taking six months to introduce a new product, we can do it in just a few weeks by communicating so quickly with partners.”
  6. We have been making continuous investment and upgrades to the services we introduced. We work with our customers and partners and get their input on scenarios and features which helps us identify top features and prioritize towards those.Below is a list of key feature upgrades since BPOS launch: Jan 2010Outlook 2003 ConnectorExchange Online Usage ReportingExpand Languages and MarketsCRM integration with Exchange OnlineDelegate AdministrationMulti-tenant Blackberry Device SupportMarch 201025GB mailbox storage per user defaultExtend SharePoint site collection limitImproved domain managementFile attachments to service requestsSupport for Mac OS X Snow LeopardPublication ProcessEnhance service communication via RSSApril 2010Extend service in 17 additional marketsJuly 2010Hosted Blackberry Administration CenterOffice 2010 supportEnhance Powershell scriptingPreview Q4 2010Update with Exchange Server 2010 Update with SharePoint Server 2010Update with Lync Server 2010 Office Web Apps Free/Busy co-existenceSingle Sign On with identity federationRedesigned User InterfaceMore administration and access control
  7. Building upon our success in the marketplace and based on what we have heard from our customers, with Office 365 we will be introducing a set of new features across all workloads and the platformYou can also refer to slide #23 in the appendix for a detailed view
  8. More detail on plans and what they consist of
  9. Much like our BPOS offers today with deskless worker, we’ll have a Kiosk worker offer as part of the K Family. This set of family plans is designed for the user that doesn’t have messaging and collaboration today so it’s a low cost way of expanding your footprint in an account and giving customers a common platform for communicating to their workers. There are a couple of key changes in this line up from our current deskless offer. The first and foremost is that we are moving from Outlook Web Access Lite to full OWA. In addition, we’ll add POP support for Exchange so this allows customers to access their mail via a client or device. As we shift to the right-hand side, it’s important to talk about the enterprise IW as well. This really is the high volume family plan. The Plan E family. Designed for your enterprise workers. It includes a larger mailbox at 25 gb, full client connectivity with MAPI, it’s mobility with Active sync, Lync for real-time communication (both instant messaging and conferencing), as well as enterprise features for exchange and Sharepoint. And of course Office Professional Plus. All of these capabilities are part of the Enterprise family. So let’s spend a few minutes diving into the Plan E Family…
  10. Use this slide to set the expectations on what moving to the cloud means; share the capabilities of the service and the activities that are required to drive successful implementations.  Office 365 Services Can Not Be Customised.  As a standard service, Microsoft cannot accommodate change requests or customisationsthat deviate from our Office 365 service descriptions.  MS also will not host customer equipment inside MS data centers.  If customisations are required to solve the business problem, an on-premises or partner-hosted solution might be a better customer fit.  Be Transparent with Customers Regarding Real Deployment Timelines and Migration Costs.  While customers know to expect lower total overall IT costs with cloud services, they need to be better informed about cloud deployment costs.  Office 365 deployments range from straightforward to highly complex, depending upon variables like the complexity of their environment. Do not set deployment timeline expectations with a customer before deep technical due diligence has been conducted.  Contact MPD for timelines, due diligence, and costs.  See more at BPOS Deployment Central. Also, ensure customers understand their overall IT costs will go down while their spend with Microsoft will go up.Office 365 Services Are Not the Sameas On-Premises Solutions.  Our world-class offerings provide customers with the best productivity experience across the PC, phone and browser.  Office 365 services give customers access to the most commonly used business productivity features and capabilities, supported by standardised operational processes.  This model achieves the economies of scale required to pass cost savings through to our service customers.

SharePoint Online provides a central place where people can create sites to connect colleagues, partners and customers. Features:Access to a personal site for individuals to store documents, share interests and quickly access their content from anywhereDesigned to work with the Microsoft Office applications individuals having been using for decadesBusiness units or workgroups can create team sites to share documents, task lists, and schedules to keep everyone in syncCreate project sites using SharePoint Online to automatically track documents, monitor project tasks, and milestonesCreate sites to communicate business priorities and information to the entire organisation Build vibrant and engaged communities inside and outside your organisationCreate sites to manage and share information securely with partners and customers Social Networking capabilities such as activity feeds, blogs and wikis to help build community Financially-backed, guaranteed 99.9% uptime Service Level AgreementPlatform FeaturesSingle Sign OnToday in Microsoft Online Services, users have an Online services identity that is separate from their domain login and password. A sign in application runs in the system tray of each user’s machine, which stores their Online password, so they don’t have to type it in every time. It’s a workable solution that achieves a single-sign-like experience. When the 2010 server products come to Microsoft Online, you will be able to use Active Directory Federation Services, an enterprise-class tool for federating your Active Directory with Microsoft Services. Your employees will be able to access services with their domain credentials, the same way they access the on-premises applications they use today, and there will no longer be a need for a sign-in tool. With ADFS you can also customize the login page used for authenticating OWA users (the same page is used for other federated web-based applications)Let’s look closer at how ADFS 2.0 (also known by its code name, “Geneva”) works. Geneva is a web download for Windows Server 2008. To enable federation with Online Services, you first set up a Windows 2008 server and install ADFS as a server role. Then you use a “Federate with Online” tool/wizard to set up a trust between on-premises AD and Online Services. Once that is in place, when users accesses Exchange Online, they are redirected to the local Geneva server for authentication first, and then a SAML token is passed to the cloud service to log the user in. Passwords are not synchronized to the cloud, or stored there. User benefits: Overall benefit for end users is improved productivity No usability issues with remembering two identities and passwords – lower confusion and frustration Common experience across Online Services (Sharepoint Online, OC Online, etc) in Wave 14Administrator benefits: Overall benefit for IT is better manageability and lower TCO Since it is a server-side solution, they don’t have to spend time deploying and maintaining a client-side application Passwords are not synchronised to the cloud. Microsoft never sees credentials or password Enterprises retain security control over user accounts and password expiry Low touch, easy to set up and manage -- no change to AD code or alteration of enterprise deployment of AD is required Decreased helpdesk calls from end users forgetting their passwordsOther benefits: With ADFS, you can deploy multi-factor authentication. This includes soft certificate and smartcard authentication out of the box (not RSA or Swivel)You can customise the login page for Exchange Online and your other federated Web applications (keep in mind it’s the same page as used for all federated web apps, not just OWA.Richer Admi InterfacesThe way to manage your Exchange Online environment today is using the Microsoft Online Administration Center (MOAC). The web-based interface is easy to use but currently it is fairly limited in terms of administrative power. Exchange 2010 gives you a much richer set of tools to manage and customize your Exchange Online environment.Microsoft Online Admin Center Exchange 2010 includes a number of new native web-based management features, which are collectively referred to as the “Exchange Control Panel,”which enhance the capabilities of the Microsoft Online Admin Center.Exchange Management Console:For managing an on-premises Exchange Server installation, the tool of choice for administrators has long been the Exchange Management Console. In Exchange 2010, you can use the robust capabilities of this familiar tool to manage your cross-premises Exchange environment.Remote PowerShell: With Exchange 2010, the robust scripting capabilities of PowerShell now extend to the datacenter, allowing you to manage their hosted environment across the Internet. The introduction of these management capabilities means that you can move your environment to cloud without giving up control. You can offload task while retaining control over essential management features. You can let the Microsoft datacenter staff manage servers, hardware, and storage, but still retain control over settings and configuration, and rolling out features that are visible to your org.Let’s take a closer look at each of these management tools.Simplified UIFor the Standard offering, we will be providing a new user experience. Today, we have four different portals depending on the usage needs. In H2 2010, we will be consolidating the subscription, administration and end user portal into one. We will have role based access capabilities that will only allow users to access and see the features that they have rights too. Another significant improvement tied to the previous slide is we will be removing the need to have a sign-in client for users of ADFS or non-ADFS. End users will be able to managed their Online password (non-ADFS users) directly with the portal. To ensure end users working with Office clients to have best possible experience. We will be provide customer a service connector that automatically updates the PC with the correct patches to ensure Office works well with Online. This is only required when working with Office clients. Web scenarios do not require the Service Connector. Here are some of the other key UI design goals: Consolidate Separate ExperiencesOne site, one navigation system across the entire lifecycle of learn/try/buy/manageGetting setup is done through one site, end-to-endOne login, one identity across all experiencesShared look & feel for all workloads within the platformGetting Started with Online is EasyUsers don’t require a Live ID to sign-up & setup, instead reserve a namespace & login ID for themselvesUsers set their own initial password for their trialInitial Sign-up process is simplified and very lightweightYour prescribed setup tasks are based on your answers to a “setup assessment”Updated Information Architecture Revised organisation of top-level elements, MOCP/Marketing/MOAC are now all represented at the top levelFlatter navigation scheme (2 levels instead of 3)Improved page types:Standardised, toolbar-style grids with filteringFull-page wizards & property sheets for simpler layouts & localisation optionsExtensible, Consistent Workload Marketing & Management ExperienceWorkloads can create consistent Service Cataloging pages in our catalogConsistent Deep-link pages for each service organised in a common wayConsistent Header link within workloads to return to the central management consoleNew platform requirementsOperating System RequirementsXP SP3 with RPC over HTTP patchXP Home and Media Center edition only for managed identity deploymentVista SP2 Windows 7Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), 10.5 (Leopard), 10.6 (Snow Leopard)Office Client RequirementsOffice 2007 SP2 and aboveInvestigating support for Outlook 2003 with Exchange OnlineInvestigating support for Office 2003 with SharePoint OnlineOffice 2008 for Mac & Entourage 2008 Web Services EditionService Connector with .NET 2.0 or later (highly recommended)New Office Communicator ClientMac Messenger 9 Browser RequirementsInternet Explorer 8 is required for XP Internet Explorer 7 for Vista users Firefox 3.xSafari 4.x
  13. The Security Program takes a risk-based, multi-dimensional approach to putting in place the necessary & adequate safeguards across all aspects of a service. The Program aims to define security requirements applicable to people, processes and technology, and implement corresponding controls & capabilities across the services themselves, the supporting platform and infrastructure components, as well as the hosting facilities and the hardware residing within them. Role & Responsibility of the Security Program: Help ensure services are developed in a secure manner. Microsoft’s Secure Development Lifecycle plays a critical role here. Help ensure the services are operated in a secure environment. Security controls exist across and within all layers of a given service, which supports the principle of defense-in-depth.Help ensure that services and infrastructure are monitored for configuration errors, vulnerabilities, security events and anomalous behavior.Help ensure incidents are promptly detected and a mature incident management process not only addresses the immediate issue, but identifies and corrects the cause.Help ensure personnel are adequately prepared and trained to identify security issues and provide notification through the appropriate procedure.
  14. With the arrival of Office 365, Exchange Online provides all the latest features of Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1. This means that customers can get the benefits of cloud-based e-mail and calendaring, without giving up familiar capabilities and user experiences. Let’s take a brief tour of these capabilities.Note: A comprehensive feature comparison chart is published in the Exchange Online Service Description, available at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=207232
  15. Exchange Online gives users access to their email, calendars, and contacts with a consistent experience across PC, web, and mobile. IM and presence integration lets users chat from right within the OWA experience. The premium OWA experience is available in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and ChromeLarge mailboxes mean that users don’t waste time cleaning out their mailboxes to make space, or moving email to offline PST files that can’t be accessed from web browsers or mobile devices. All their email data is available to them, wherever they go.Exchange Online provides the enterprise-class calendaring features that Exchange Server is known for, including:The Global Address List, shared contacts, and distribution groups--including advanced capabilities like restricting who can send to a large distribution group, moderation of messages that are sent to a distribution group, and dynamic distribution groups.Conference room support, with a resource booking attendant that can automatically accept or decline meeting requests. These conference rooms come as part of the service, and do not require separate licences.Support for shared mailboxes, which allows multiple people to connect to a mailbox (like help@contoso.com) and send messages with the identity of that mailbox. Support for delegate access to mailboxes and calendars, which is essential for executive assistants and others who manage shared resources. Neworganisation-to-organisation federated free/busy sharing; so you can share free busy data with trusted business partners, The ability for individual users to publish calendars via the iCal standard to users outside of your organisation, and subscribe to calendars published in the iCal format. Forefront Online Protection for Exchange is included as part of each user’s subscription, to help block malware from reaching their inboxes. No configuration is necessary to start or maintain the filtering technology, but customers with advanced requirements the FOPE admin console for advanced policy rules and reporting.Exchange Online lets customers use leverage their on premisesRMS to leverage IRM support features in Exchange Online. (transport protection rules, IRM in OWA, etc.). They can also set up custom outbound email routing, in order to use third-party data leakage prevention appliances or encryption gateways.
  16. Exchange Online supports the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol, which has become the de-facto standard for synchronization of mailbox data to mobile phones. This allows users to access their e-mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks on the go.Exchange ActiveSync is supported by a wide range of mobile devices, including Microsoft Windows Mobile® and Windows Phone, Nokia E and N series devices, Palm devices, Apple iPhone and iPad, and certain Android phones. In the event that a mobile device is lost or stole, users or administrators can remotely wipe the device back to its factory settings, from OWA.With Exchange ActiveSync, organisations can enforce security policies, such as PIN lock, on the devices that connect to their Exchange Online environment. Administrators can also control which phones can connect to Exchange Online by creating block/allow lists.Using a Web-based interface, they can create approved device lists for their organisation as well as block any particular device they believe should not be allowed. Any devices not listed in the block or allow lists can be quarantined, enabling administrators to decide later if they should be allowed to connect. A customisable quarantine email allows administrators to explain to users why their device has been quarantined.
  17. Exchange Online provides hosted voice mail services. This means organisations can connect their on-premises PBX phone systems to cloud-based voicemail services provided by Exchange Online, so they can stop managing their on-premises voicemail infrastructure. It gives users gives users a single inbox for both e-mail and voice mail messages, which can be accessed from Outlook, Outlook Web App, mobile devices, or a standard telephone. It provides the newest features of Exchange Unified messaging, like text preview of voicemail messages and personal auto-attendant capabilities via call answering rules.Outlook Voice Access allows users to call the voicemail system from any phone and listen to their e-mail or calendar items, as well as access personal contacts and information in the company directory. The hosted voicemail service integrates with the on-premises phone systems, and supports features like message waiting indicator for desktop phonesMost importantly, it allows organisations to take advantage of the efficiency and cost-savings that come from a centralised voicemail infrastructure, retiring legacy voicemail systems that are expensive to maintain and back up.
  18. Because of the growing volume of email data and increasing regulatory and legal requirements for retention and discovery, more and more organisations need archiving, compliance, and eDiscovery solutions. These features are built into Exchange Online.A new personal email archive offers organisations a simple way to centrally store and manage data that currently resides in PSTs files – while maintaining the familiar mailbox management experience for users. Content in the personal archive is discoverable and performance is not compromised for large mailboxes (10-100 GB) Retention policies help organisations meet regulatory and corporate governance requirements. Retention policies can be applied to any individual e-mail or folder. These policies are defined centrally and pushed to the client, exposed directly to users in the UI for selection or notification. These policies have great integration with the archiving features.Organisations can use legal hold to preserve all mailbox content for certain users or your entire organisation, so that a copy of every message is retained for compliance reasons. Deleted messages are hidden from the users’ view, but they are still searchable via Exchange’s multi-mailbox search tools. To help organisations meet the growing need for eDiscovery, Exchange Online provides web-based tool for search corporate communication throughout the e-mail infrastructure. A cross-mailbox search user interface enables compliance officers and HR to perform searches based on select e-mail attributes across the entire mail infrastructure. Roles based administration allows for easy delegated access to this tool. eDiscovery processes may be followed without IT intervention and only by those authorised.Exchange Online has full support for transport rules. Transport rules inspect every piece of mail that flows through an organisation’s Exchange Online environment and take action (such as applying a disclaimer or silently sending a copy of the mail to a compliance mailbox). Transport rules are flexible. Organisations can use them to scan for specific keywords, text patterns, or number patters such as social security numbers; create ethical walls that block mail between specific users; or block selected users from sending email outside of the organisation.
