Express Entry direct migration to Canada updated for 03 April 2019 draws from ICCRC member and Authorized Rep. in India.
Protect yourself with accurate information.. avoid marketing scams!
2. What is Express Entry?
S Express Entry is Canada’s new immigration case
management system since January 2015. Express
Entry is NOT a new immigration program; all previous
immigrations programs and their criteria to apply still
apply, including:
S 1) Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
2) Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
3) Federal Skilled Trades program (FSTP)
+ Portion of various Provincial Nomination Programs
(PNP)
4. 3 Selectors
Applicant MUST get selected by one of the 3 entities
and a points based Comprehensive Ranking System
(CRS)
Selectors Factors
S 1. Federal Government Points Based CRS
S 2. Provincial Governments Provincial (PNP)
S 3. Canadian Employers Employability Factors
Note : Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is
now known as Immigration, Refugees, and
Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
5. Express Entry
a 2 Stage process
S Express Entry is a 2 stage process :
Stage 1) Create a profile for selection
Stage 2) Apply for immigration (PR) to Canada
AFTER being selected
Be Aware: Unethical consultants tend to evaluate
only based on the INITIAL QUALIFYING criteria of
67 points for FSW. This is just the criteria to apply
NOT the criteria to get selection. Without selection
you cannot get immigration under Express Entry.
6. Express Entry: Stage 1
STAGE 1
S Meet Eligibility Criteria Age, education
assessment, IELTS, and work experience are the main
criteria
S Create an online profile input your details and
be part of the Express Entry pool of candidates.
S Selection Selection or Invitation to Apply (ITA) is
issued if you have met the minimum CRS points for the
draw.
7. Express Entry: Stage 2
STAGE 2
S You will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) once
selected.
S Submit your application for immigration (PR) with the ITA.
All documentation and criteria must be met within 60
days. Any discrepancies or deficiencies between
information submitted in the Stage 1 profile and
documentation in your Stage 2 PR application could
lead to rejection.
S Fast processing times of less than 6 months (for 80%
of cases) from date of PR submission AFTER selection.
8. Express Entry Pool and
“draws”
S Draws from the Express Entry pool are conducted usually
twice a month. This is an ongoing process with no
end dates. Applicants who have the minimum CRS score
established by IRCC for that draw will get an Invitation
to Apply (ITA).
S IRCC determines the criteria for who can participate in
each draw and the minimum CRS score required for an
ITA.
S Since January 2015 the draws have been conducted
usually every 2 weeks. Check this SLIDESHARE
periodically to see recent selection data and
updates.
15. Express Entry – How can I get
selected -3 main options
Ways to get points and get selected :
Option A: Without Employer/PNP selection
Meet the minimum CRS points required for a draw
Option B : With employer selection : you will get
an additional 200 points for senior management
positions OR 50 points for all other job categories.
The job offer must be approved by ESDC and with a
Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
Option C: With PNP selection : you will get the
additional 600 points and a guaranteed ITA.
16. Express Entry – Additional
points
Additional Points (subject to meeting
criteria):
15 points if you or your spouse have a direct sibling
(brother or sister) in Canada with PR or citizenship
status ,
Up to 30 points if you have a high level of French
15 to 30 points for completed education in Canada
(1 or 3 years)
40 to 80 points if you have Canadian work
experience (1 to 5 years)
17. How many points is required
for selection?
S The lowest points required for selections from the pool to date
was a minimum points of 413 on May 26, 2017.
S For 2019 the overall immigration quota/target has increased by
20%; however, it is not possible to predict how low the
points may come as it also depends on how many new
qualified applicants enter into the CRS pool
S In our opinion, The MINIMUM CRS score required to have a
reasonably chance for selection is now 431-440 points.
Given that 2018 and 2019 CRS scores have not been below
439 you may need to have 440+ to get selection in 2019
S Note: Do NOT Delay in starting the process. Those that
wait or are not confident of obtaining the ielts scores can miss
their opportunity to get selected when points come down.
18. Getting selected under CRS
without employer or PNP
The IDEAL client for Option A are candidates that :
a) AGE: not too old - each year above 29 will loose a few points
b) Can obtain an IELTS General score of Listening 8.0 and ALL
other bands of 7.0.
c) Has a Bachelors Degree education and SKILLED work
experience of 3 years (paid, full time, and verifiable)
d) Has a Masters degree education and SKILLED work
experience of 1 years (paid, full time and verifiable)
Note: The vast majority of candidates must have CLB 9 IELTS
score (minimum Listening 8.0 and all other bands at 7.0) to get
sufficient points for selection. Only the few that have Canadian
education or work experience,, high French ability, or a direct
sibling with PR or citizenship are entitled to extra points under
Option A.
19. Express Entry – Who is likely
to get PNP Selection?
There are 10 provinces, 3 territories and over 50 PNP programs in total.
Detailed information about these programs cannot be provided in this
slide share due to its complexity, quota limits, and ever changing
criteria.
In General :
PNP officials select their targeted applicants based on factors such
as shortages in their provinces, and the likelihood that the applicant
will be employed and will reside in that province.
Selections are primarily from the Express Entry pool. You do not
need to make a separate application for this. The province will
select you from the Express Entry Pool IF they like your profile
and based on who they need.
For MOST direct PNP programs you will need to be have ties to that
province - a job offer or be currently working in the province or be a
current temporary residents in Canada like international
students.
20. Express Entry – Things to be
aware of for PNP Selection
There are quota limitations varying from 250 to 6,000 a
year spread amongst several PNP programs of that
province
More and more Provinces are choosing to select from
within Express Entry for outside Canada applicants
PNP Fraud ALERT : The latest marketing fraud by
unauthorized consultancies and/or unethical agents is to
offer false hope to clients that cannot get sufficient points
in the CRS due to their age, inability to improve their
English language skills, or other factors.
Unethical consultancies and agents charge more
money upfront and before selection. They have
absolutely no interest in advising you of the facts or
difficulties, instead their sole purpose is to make
money by taking advantage of your desire to migrate.
21. Express Entry – Things to be
aware of for Employer
Selection
Note: Employer Selection is not easy to obtain
Employers are looking to fill positions immediately not 9
to 12 months later, the time it takes for an applicant to
land in Canada under Express Entry.
Employers need to have an LMIA approved by ESDC to
recruit an applicant from abroad. This a difficult and time
consuming process most employers will not
undertake.
Fraud ALERT : If you receive emails or guarantees from
any consultancy that they can get you a job offer it is likely
to be a fraud. If you pay money to anyone to obtain a job
then it not genuine and you could be banned for submitting
a fraudulent application. This may impact your ability to get
visas in the future to not just Canada but also other
22. Express Entry – Who are most
likely to get selection?
# 1 International students in Canada who have
graduated and have work experience in Canada.
They get additional points in the CRS for education (15 to
30) and for Canadian work experience obtained post
graduation (from 40 for 1 year to 80 for 5 years).
They are eligible to apply under the Canadian Experience
Class (CEC) not just Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
They are eligible for several PNP selections (Provincial
nominations plans) meant to target international students
They can get selected easier by Canadian employer as
they are already in Canada (Employer Selection)
23. Express Entry – Who are most
likely to get selection?
# 2 Candidates from outside Canada with good
English
CLB 9 ielts General Score of Listening 8.0 and all other
bands at 7.0 IS A MUST to increase your CRS points to
above 400 (in the majority of cases)
An education credentials assessment (ECA) equivalent to
a Canadian Masters degree or 2nd degree or post degree
diploma. This will double the Skills Transferability Factor
points for education from 25 to 50 with CLB 9 English
Skilled work experience of 3 years or more. This will also
double double the Skills Transferability Factor points for
work experience from 25 to 50 with CLB 9 English
24. Express Entry – Who are most
likely to get selection?
# 3 Work experience in industries that provinces are
looking to select (PNP)
IT professions, Engineers, HR managers have all been
selected from the CRS pool for PNP
Please Note for occupations that require a license to
practice like doctors, nurses, and other medical
professional: Although they are all generally in demand
occupations, you cannot work in Canada without first
obtaining registration from the professional body that
governs your profession. Due to this it is not easy to get
selected under PNP programs.
25. Important things
to be aware of
1) Competency and use of AUTHORIZED Consultant
S If you use the services of a consultancy for any visas to
Canada then it MUST be an Authorized Representative. If
IRCC is aware that you used the services of a consultancy
that is not Authorized your application will be refused for
MISREPRENTATION resulting in a ban by IRCC.
S MUST have Canadian knowledge and experience about
Canadian economy and shortages in various regions
Provincial Immigration Plans (PNP)
Canadian employer attitudes and preferences
26. Important things
to be aware of
2) In depth knowledge. In depth and up to date knowledge
about Canada’s immigration laws is absolutely necessary.
Authorized Reps. must meet ongoing educational
requirements to ensure that their knowledge is current.
NOTE: Many clients get rejected due to issues related to
documentation and misinterpretation of LEGAL requirements.
There are even errors in the online Express Entry site that
most people are unaware of. The main draw back for
Express Entry is that you can get rejected even for a very
small error. There is no recourse or appeals process for
foreigners other than obtaining a lawyer to file a case in the
Federal Courts of Appeals in Canada. This is too onerous and
cost prohibitive to be a viable option in the vast majority of
cases.
27. Important things
to be aware of
3) Avoid Marketing Gimmicks
Don’t waste your hard earned money or be fooled by tall
claims, number of offices or staff, paid Google ads to come on
first page, paid news, number of Facebook likes etc. These
are all just sophisticated marketing techniques.
Some bring people from Canada to convince you. Please note
that nobody has any special “influence” over your application.
Some even put many old files on desk to fool you to believe
they have numerous clients. These are all sophisticated
techniques to convince you to register. Do not be fooled.
Unauthorized consultants may use Indian advocates, do
incorrect evaluations, and tend to charge more for Stage 1
(before selection) so they can make money regardless of
whether you get selection.
Don’t be a victim of fraud. Protect yourself with accurate
28. Important things
to be aware of
4) Avoid being a victim of a scam
Beware of Agents that may have a contract with an
Authorized Rep. BUT DO NOT send your file to the
Authorized Rep. They may only send 1 out of 10 and even
the Authorized Rep. in Canada will not be aware of this.
Unauthorized consultants create gmail accounts in your
name with their contact info. They submit the file to IRCC
like as if you are submitting directly. Later you are at their
mercy and demands for money in order to get your approved
visa.
Always ensure you have a signed Retainer (contract)
with the Authorized Rep. NOT the Agent. Read the
Retainer carefully before you sign. It must include a
29. Important things
to be aware of
5) Access to Authorized Rep.
Clients must communicate DIRECTLY with the
Authorized Rep to evaluate individual applications and
get proper advice.
DO NOT believe agents that claim that they are
authorized to evaluate or everything is done only through
an Authorized Rep.
If you are promised a job or PNP selection; get it in
writing and from only the Authorized Rep. (hint: no
Authorized Rep. will give this)
30. Important things
to be aware of
6 ) There are no guarantees. Authorized Reps (or anyone
else for that matter) cannot give guarantees as selection is
based solely on your individual abilities to obtain a high CRS
score relative to other applicants in the pool
Authorized Reps. can provide advice, use immigration laws to
perfect your application, avoid errors, communicate effectively
with IRCC and CHC, and use our knowledge to improve your
chances, but we are not permitted by law to give any
guarantees to any clients.
The ultimate decision regarding immigration resides solely
with IRCC /the evaluating officer and as per the laws under
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA)
