settlement to the Roman Era, when it was an important port,
and the Middle Ages, when it was the capital of the
Giudicato of Gallura, one of the four independent states of
Sardinia. The tour will start with the Church of St Paolo,
dating from the 17th century, which boasts its Gallurese
style and is really worth visiting. The surrounding area is
filled with an array of old, beautiful houses and exquisite
buildings. Remains from the Roman era, the defence wall
and famous thermal baths can also be seen in this part of
town. Another must-see church is the Church of San
Simplicio, which is the oldest and the most important

Sardinia.

The Museum is characterized by a grand central patio in
which there are some recently discovered Roman ships and
a series of functional places, such as the library, the
auditorium and the congress centre.
On the upper floor advanced technology is used to reproduce
the event of the Vandals sinking ships.
The big spaces of this building will host a picturesque artisans’

13. Cultural Experience Olbia Archeo-Tour
Sardinia has many archaeological mysteries: Tombs of Giants,
Menhirs, Domus de Janas (house of the witches), Dolmens,
Sacred Wells, Holy Sources and Nuraghi. We can find these
megalithic constructions everywhere in the island. In the past it
was possible to count more than 20000 constructions, now
there are only 8000 sites. Our tour begins at the Olbia harbour
“Isola Bianca”. A bus will take us to the Giants’ Tomb Su Monte
de s’Ape, just 3 Kms from the town centre.
The Giants’ Tomb of Olbia (1500 to 1100 BC) is one of the
largest in Sardinia. These tombs got their names from local
folklore due to the size of the stones used in the building. The
dead were laid in the central corridor. Offers to the gods and
solemn religious ceremonies took place in front of the tomb in
an area shaped as a large semi-circle, formed by massive
standing stones. One of the most interesting nuraghi in the
north of Sardinia is the nuraghe of Cabu Abbas, near Olbia. It’s
located on a rocky promontory which dominates the gulf of
Olbia at a sea level of 246 metres. We can assume that
nuragic people used this construction in order to check the
arrival of enemy boats.

18. Cultural Experience San Pantaleo
Another world, 18 km from Olbia by bus. San Pantaleo, in
certain respects, evokes a village in the Dolomites. Historically
known as "the fount of Beddoro", it constituted an island of
well-being and salubrious health in a relatively untouched and
unpopulated area. The village, like today, grew up thanks to
the initiative of the inhabitants of the 'stazzi' in the area who in
1894 asked to the bishop of Tempio for the creation of a parish
as a religious and social reference point. Strategically, San
Pantaleo is situated on a raised platform, overlooking on one
side the road for "Monti di Mola" (the current Costa Smeralda),
and on the other, the road from Arzachena to Baja Sardinia. A
dominant position, therefore, to keep a vigil on the coast.
Starting from the 1970's then, a group of artists and painters
populated the village, attracted by its atmosphere, far from the
coastal way of life, and absolutely informal. Artists, painters
and sculptors, arrived here from England, Germany,
Scandinavia and France, and they caused San Pantaleo to
develop a sort of bohemian feel. Next to the foreigners, a
group of Gallurese craftsman are located here, and they are
highly sought after for their products crafted from natural
materials: wood, beaten iron and other metals, but also
terracotta and ceramic.

the Seventies (in 1978, Pevero Golf Club hosted the
renowned Italian Open), implemented a very exclusive
course scattered with terrible hazards created by nature
itself more than by man and with a strong wind often
blowing across it. Before, the whole area between Cala di
Volpe and Golfo del Pevero was completely covered by the
Active
typical Mediterranean bushes, by rocks and natural ponds;
it would have been a shame if he had destroyed this
beauty. So, he have just removed some areas where the
vegetation was too thick. The Pevero is considered one of
the most beautiful courses in the world, is second to none
