1 Indiana should follow the will of its electorate, and the lead of 33 states, and legalize cannabis for
both medical and recreational use.
1/1/2019 5:22 PM
2 Safety on our city streets is what makes living enjoyable. Law enforcement and educating
everyone to obey laws for the good of society are a one/two approach for government at all levels.
It begins in the home with the mother and father together bringing up their children.
1/1/2019 2:22 PM
3 Legal cannabis for Indiana. 1/1/2019 10:51 AM
4 We need to pay more attention to Veterans issues including theiliyary Family Relief Fund, homles
vets, education assistance and Veteran Treatment Courts
12/31/2018 12:09 PM
5 Raising pay for DCS and teachers is also high priority. AN extensive investigation into the
effectiveness of the Indiana Department of Affairs and by extension the Veteran Service Officers of
each county. Many of them do not do their job well, causing our veterans to suffer.
12/31/2018 9:01 AM
6 We need to make sure that Veterans are given priority in job opportunities that are funded with
state and federal monies and are treated fairly and honored for their service.
12/31/2018 7:26 AM
7 As long as the GOP stays i lock step with President Trump their fortunes will wane and their
credibility wiill contune to be in shambles.
12/31/2018 1:43 AM
8 DCS has a management problem. State needs to deal will drug problem, low teatcher and state
worker pay while managing state budget. School boards need to do more for teachers and less for
admin.

17 Hogsett has got to find some courage and actually begin leading. 12/30/2018 9:16 AM
18 Hogsett and the city counsel need to dedicate walking patrols in the mile square. The patrols
should harass the WD as much as permissible. DPW needs to wash the sidewalks on monument
circle every night with high pressure hoses. All trash including shopping carts and milk crates
should be removed. If elected officials can’t do their job, citizens need to step in and harass the
WD.
12/30/2018 8:02 AM

simplistic, such as hitting a pothole on the way to work, get to work, get in a pickup, throw a pile of

24 Indy should become the state's first sanctuary city for cannabis users 12/29/2018 9:36 PM
25 Medical cannabis needs to be legalized and priority. 12/29/2018 6:50 PM
26 Veterans should not have to pay state tax 12/29/2018 3:17 PM
27 We need to decriminalize marijuana in Indiana and make it legal for ages 21 and older like alcohol
is because truthfully alcohol is far way more dangerous than marijuana will ever be I honestly say
let's legalize marijuana and ban alcohol totally but we know that would never happen if not legalize
marijuana for everyone at least for medicinal use for mental health patients like myself that would
rather be prescribed marijuana than take all these pills a day like I take over 9 pills a day and if
marijuana was able to be prescribed by a doctor I would only have to only take marijuana and
maybe one or two pills a day
12/29/2018 12:41 PM
28 The legislature needs to appropriate more funds for assisting veterans with treatment of TBI and
PTSD. We need also to make Indiana more attractive to retired veterans to move here by changing
the tax laws.
12/29/2018 12:18 PM
29 Need continued emphasis on opioid crisis, health of minors to include raising tobacco access to 21
years old and obesity programs, and increased benefits/care for Veterans.

30 Legalize cannabis 12/29/2018 9:39 AM

the revenue where needed. Looks to me like we should make alcohol illegal.

36 Indiana should legalize recreational cannabis. The history of prohibition is one of hysteria and
racism. It’s unbecoming a free nation. I’m a responsible citizen. Using marijuana should be my
choice.
12/29/2018 5:18 AM
37 Legalize marijuana. 12/28/2018 11:41 PM
38 I continue to be frustrated by the polarization in government. Servant leadership doesn't exist
anymore. Parties are at each other's throats and neither is looking out for the best interests of us
citizens.

45 Legalize cannabis, decriminalization of possession of marijuana. Stiffer penalties for meth and
heroine dealers. Increase age for tobacco sale. Stiffer/death penalties for pedophiles and sex
trafficking. It's time to make examples of those who poison others with narcotics and those who
harm childern. The current slap on the wrist doesn't work.
12/28/2018 7:08 PM
46 I want to see decriminalization of small amount of marijuana for personal or medical use. Hoosiers
need this option and not another non-violent person needs put in jail for this plant.
12/28/2018 7:06 PM
47 Cannabis and hemp should be the top priority imo. It's time to end the nonsense of prohibition. 12/28/2018 6:19 PM
48 Yes, it’s time for Indiana to legalize cannabis use in our state!! 12/28/2018 5:49 PM
49 Why is animal reform never on these surveys? Indiana has some of the worst animal
laws/protections statewide. Also, Indiana basically promotes puppy mills. It’d be nice to see one
leader take a stance & make sure animals are protected. This also needs to include livestock.
Livestock in Indiana can easily be neglected/abused because almost no laws exist to protect
them.
12/28/2018 5:48 PM
50 Indiana's constitution needs to be changed so that we the people can use ballot initiatives to
change laws and make new laws. Our legislators, republican and democrat, have ignored our will
on many subjects for many years. They promise anything to get elected, then do whatever they
please instead of representing our wishes.
12/28/2018 5:47 PM
51 Lawmakers #1 job should be to show up, shut up and stop spending my money. Oh and if they
want to leagalize thc then that’s ok too.
12/28/2018 5:45 PM
52 Please legalize marijuana at least medically in Indiana. We are too far behind in too many ways.
Legalization would bring in tons of tax dollars that could be used to better our failing schools and
reinvest on failing cities, such as South Bend, Gary... etc.
12/28/2018 5:44 PM
53 Indiana needs to legalize cannabis. That could give us teacher raises, 25 percent less opioid
overdose deaths, less arrests-not needing bigger jails, less prosecutors needed, less court time
wasted, less lives ruined, less dcs cases, less police hours wasted, more jobs in the thriving
cannabis market....the list goes on and on for the positive. It is a draconian law that needs
changed.
12/28/2018 5:29 PM
54 Indiana needs to get on board with marijuana legalization / decriminalization. All of our neighbors
are on board, as well as, more thann half of our nation is on board. Marijuana is naturally
medicinal. Why would alcohol be legal when it is so destructive to so many lives? It's time to allow
adults over 21 to have a choice. Let's go Indiana! The folks of our wonderful state are counting on
you.
12/28/2018 5:28 PM
55 I can Not understand for the life of me why Withholding “Medical Marijuana” at minimum; for
medical use is such an issue. I could list at well over 50 people I personally know in Hamilton
County alone who are suffering from Cancer, Spinal damage, Chronic Pain, Neuropathies,
Fibromyalgi, COPD, Severe Anxiety, Severe Panic disorders and the list goes on. We can’t get
relief from medical Doctors anymore “Oh sorry, Red Flag if I write you a prescription” because of
“The Opiod” epidemic, so we suffer 24/7. Who are you to decide we have to live like this? It’s NOT
living, it’s existing. You make the laws we have to legally abide by and it’s NOT fair we have to
suffer like this. We should have the right to choose an alternative all natural way to hopefully heal
ourselves or at least have a bit more quality of life with what time we have left. Stop playing God,
he gave us this plant as food and medicine and you have No right to keep it from us. As far as the
BS “It’s a gateway drug” that’s insane!!! Young and Old are going to use whatever they want if
they are seeking a bigger high “legal or illegal We don’t all fit that profile. “We deserve the right to
try”. Because Big Pharma and the medical system in whole has failed us miserably. Myself
personally; I have been denied disability by the State of Indiana. I am denied medication to “at
even minimally” relieve severe pain which has led to severe anxiety and insomnia. I am a law
abiding citizen and my only option is to leave this State if something doesn’t change. Unfortunately
due to my health and not being able to find a decent paying job at this time because of, I can’t
even afford to pick up move and start over at my age! What are people like me suppose to do. NO
FUNDING to help us now is there? What’s left? Absolutely NOTHING! Oh wait: Yes there is,
Alcohol and Tylenol etc. to rot our liver and cause more damage to our bodies! Legalize for
medical purposes, MRI’s and numerous tests Do Not Lie. IT’s ALL WE HAVE LEFT TO TRY!!!!!
12/28/2018 5:24 PM
56 Medical Cannabis is the top priority. Eric Holcomb and Brian Bosma need to return the blood
money bribes they accepted from murderers Eli Lilly. This explains why Indiana has an opiod
epidemic. Very evil.

58 Marijuana reform and legalization should be a top priority for this years session. 12/28/2018 4:28 PM
59 We need to join the over 3/5 of the country by untying our medical professional’s hands with
government overreach in regards to treatment options with medical marijuana. Additionally, the
policy we implement needs to protect the decisions made between doctors and patients in
neighboring states so that our family and friends, some of whom are previous Hoosiers
themselves, don’t have to make the horrible decision to never visit their loved ones in Indiana or go
without the medicine that they require because of the risk of criminal punishment.
12/28/2018 4:03 PM
60 Medical and/or recreational marijuana. Revenue would be great. 12/28/2018 3:06 PM
61 Legalizeation of medical and recerational cannabis 12/28/2018 3:03 PM
62 General Assembly should prioritize reforming our cannabis laws during the 2019 session. Time to
decriminalize or legalize. Most people do not want there tax dollars being used to mess up others
lives, by throwing them into the system, over a plant. They've been doing it for decades and we all
know it. Its time to take away the things that only further divide this country. Way too much division
in this country nowadays...
12/28/2018 2:50 PM
63 We should legalize recreational marijuana, and open up our restrictive ballot access laws so the
Green Party can get on the ballot.
12/28/2018 2:31 PM
64 If you are Mayor of Indianapolis and don’t want to be evaluated on how well you fight crime, you
should not trumpet how great you will be a fighting crime and how you should be assessed on
your effectiveness at doing so. What about veterans’ issues?!
12/28/2018 2:23 PM
65 It’s past time to legalize medical marijuana. 12/28/2018 1:57 PM
66 There needs to be a stronger effort made to eliminate township government; it's ineffective,
inefficient and unnecessary. Have you seen the level of tax dollars that have accumulated in their
bank accounts? Their current responsibilities can be carried out by counties and/or cities and
towns. I would like to see you latch on to CNHI's reporting and promote this initiative. Keep up the
good work, Abdul. Happy New Year to you and the lovely Mrs. Shabazz.

69 Medical and/or Recreational Marijuana should be legal. 12/28/2018 1:13 PM
70 Indiana needa to get out of the dark ages and decriminalize cannabis in all forms it would bring in
so much money we could give food and housing to the homeless we could give the extra funds to
schools and we could use the money to fix our roads and infrastructure and on top of all that we
could cut the overdose rates by 26% if cannabis was legal in Indiana. Indiana is losing a lot of
people because our government won't listen to what it's people want. Which is legal cannabis!
12/28/2018 1:09 PM
71 Legalize cannabis for medical and recreational use 12/28/2018 1:08 PM
72 Legalizing medical and or recreational cannabis would fund the programs that Indiana needs help
funding like for teachers, schools, roads, infrastructure, kid programs, homelessness as well as
help others with chronic pain, anxiety, depression and over all better health with and without
prescription drugs. It's a win for everyone. Our HIP 2.0. Is crap. This state has no decent
affordable healthcare on the healthcare marketplace anymore in my position. Indiana either caters
to the poor or the rich and the ones in between, trying not to depend on the system get screwed in
the fight between sides. The middle class is shrinking. My kids see people passed out on the
streets addicted to heroin, and then they get it legally now for free, but legal cannabis is something
we have to fight about every year. We waste more money fighting about the same issues over and
over than we do attempting to fix it. Indiana government does not listen to what its people want.
12/28/2018 1:05 PM
73 Medical marijuana should be a prior 12/28/2018 1:03 PM
74 Totally legalize cannabis, including recreational. Why miss out on taxing something much of the
state partakes? The people want this. The nay-sayers dont have to partake. They can drink
alcohol, if they even approve of that!
12/28/2018 1:02 PM
75 They should seriously look around at how much profit the marijauna industry medical and
recreational could put into the state. Unless they prefer Illinois and Ohio to keep reaping what
should be kept in this state. They will make this a priority or loose big time.

82 Support the Veteran Issues. 12/28/2018 10:12 AM
83 o Indiana should work to attract more veterans to the state as part of its efforts to develop the
workforce. Veterans are mature, educated and hard wording assets to any employer. The state
should implement incentives comparable to those in surrounding states for veterans to settle
Indiana. Incentives must include military income being exempt from state taxes. This issue will be
a large part of my personal decision whether or not to reside in Indiana when I retire from the
military.
12/28/2018 9:28 AM
84 I have very little regard or respect for our current President; however, I also am not in favor of
beating the "Impeachment" drum unless there has been a clear uncovering of "high crimes &
misdemeanors" that even his most ardent followers cannot rationalize. I am also not a fan of VP
Pence either.
12/28/2018 7:11 AM
85 Indiana is losing way too many veterans to other states because of the income taxes on military
pay. Eliminate the income tax and the revenues will go up three times what is lost. Retired Military
families support local business, pay taxes on the Civilian income, pay property taxes and sales
taxes. Retired military bring drug-free, disciplined, and highly skilled workers to Indiana. Don't
leave out the "benefit" in your cost-benefit analysis of eliminating income taxes on military pay.
Thank you!!

91 As a recognized conservative state we do a terrible job when it comes to our veterans. 12/27/2018 11:37 PM
92 The state needs to do a better job of addressing key veteran issues. They just keep tinkering
around the edges and never really take significant action to retain and recruit veterans. Investing in
veteran programs is an investment in Indiana and will pay for its upfront costs many times over.
Specifically, the state needs to exempt current military and military retired pay from income taxes
to retain and attract veterans if we are to compete with our surrounding states. The state needs to
aggressively improve the Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment test program. There are many other
programs sought by the veteran community that will improve life for our Hoosier veterans who
have done so much for us.

100 Military veterans deserve more economic relief, improved benefits, and more proactive efforts to
improve their quality of life. Indiana ranks low on the scale compared to other states in providing
benefits for our Guardians of Freedom who return home to re assimulate into the community for
which they gave up part of their lives to secure our liberty. Yes, Indiana recognizes veterans, yet
more should be done as Veterans age and are too soon forgotten.
12/27/2018 7:44 PM

111 I would like to see the General Assembly do more to eliminate useless laws / state regulations, and
increase freedom. Do more to reduce, or even eliminate state taxes, especially on businesses and
individuals. I gave Gov. Holcomb a C, basically an average grade. It isn't that he is doing a bad
job, just not doing a stand-out exemplary job. Doing something bold such as elimination of state
income tax, or eliminating state government offices to reduce the footprint of the state government,
and thus reduce the overall budget, would help him stand out.

in your organization do some investigative reporting into the local judicial system. There are
policies in place in the Marion Co system that are limiting repeat violent offenders (involving guns)
to probation (no time served) or wearing an ankle bracelet (no time served). With no serious
consequences to fear, our system is empowering thugs to continue their destructive behavior on
our community. Find a few IMPD offficers willing to talk anonymously; they will share their

142 I answered “expanding sports betting” to question #9 because I believe there is revenue to be had
that will allow expansion to the budget for infrastructure, teachers pay et al and the sports
gambling landscape is exploding. Indiana residents are gambling on sports but the state is betting
notta, might as well capitalize on the opportunity. I answered “job training and employment” to #14
which I believe plays a large roll in crime. I think crime troubles are related heavily to drugs and
economic issues. Getting to our youth early and improving their environments, their family
structures is going to be where we can really turn the tide, how is the question. -Jason Bledsoe

146 Indiana needs to do more for its veteran population. Currently, only the first $5000 of their income

12/26/2018 6:26 PM
147 #14 - Really, All of the above 12/26/2018 6:21 PM
148 1. Police, Fire and Teachers should NOT have to work 2 and 3 jobs just to meet minimal needs of
a family. Indiana should be ashamed. 2. After years of being told to purchase cars with good
mileage to save national assets (Oil Based Products) and doing so, we are now penalized for
having Hybrid cars. 3. NW Indiana roads are some of the worst in the nation. (Drove from NW Ind
to NW Arkansas then to CA. No roads came close to the deterioration of Indiana roads, same is
true going east or south. I appreciate the surplus and balanced budgets, but those savings are
coming on the backs of all tax payers. 4. There is a time when Senior Citizens, who have paid
school (property taxes) taxes for their children and grandchildren. NY does not charge school
property taxes on those 70 and over. Think about it. There are other states which provide a
significantly greater state income tax break for veterans and disabled veterans.

155 Brian Bosma should resign! What he did to that lady that used to be his intern is unacceptable! 12/26/2018 4:28 PM
156 Veterans issues should be address at a significantly higher level by the Indiana General Assembly
and the Administration. Indiana has lost 16.4% of it's veteran population in the last 5 years
compared to 10.8% for MI, 11.1% for WI & MO, 11.7% for OH & IA, 13% for KY and 16.5% for IL.
Indiana ranks 44th in military retiree population at 4.4% yet is 16th largest veteran population.
Changes in IN could gain or keep an estimated 21 THOUSAND workers in Indiana who are highly
skilled, disciplined, loyal and exceed expectations in industry! The tax revenue that could be
generated by enacting veterans legislation at the state level could add over $214 MILLION
annually in Indiana after an estimated 5 years! Additionally, Indiana veterans contribute over $2.9
BILLION to the Indiana economy annually just from the VA benefits they receive that they earned
for their service. AND because Indiana does NOT support veteran service officers (like other
states do), Indiana lost about $261 MILLION last year and also lost an estimated $261 MILLION in
tax revenue!!

12/26/2018 7:55 AM
194 They got to actually fix the roads, this continuous jobs program that never actually fixes them is
nuts
12/26/2018 7:35 AM
195 Keep up the good work 12/26/2018 7:07 AM
196 By working on issues that fall within the realms of poverty then we would equally make all 5 of
your #14 option "the most important issue" collectively.
12/26/2018 6:56 AM
197 #9 is impossible to answer. Many priorities are related. 12/26/2018 6:41 AM
198 I cannot believe how bad the roads are in Indianapolis. Being this bad at the start of winter I can’t
imagine how bad they will be by spring.
12/26/2018 6:38 AM
199 I put Trump as incomplete. I would never have guessed I would say anything but F; people are
calling this Libertarian Christmas, because of the troop withdrawal and the government
“shutdown”.
12/26/2018 2:04 AM
200 Could we please legalize medical. marijuana? 12/26/2018 12:44 AM
201 Phil Boots' legislation idea about eliminating the ability of small towns to regulate activity within 4
miles of their limits needs attention. It is meant to counteract resistance to wind turbines, but could
easily impact towns like Sheridan resisting the influences of Carmel, Westfield, and Zionsvil!e.
12/26/2018 12:19 AM
202 Work in Indianapolis. Roads are terrible. 12/25/2018 11:51 PM
203 Criminal justice reforms. Current system is not working. Small scale crimes get disproportionate
penalties.
12/25/2018 11:44 PM
204 Indiana should spend as much effort and money on human capital(Youth, Seniors, Veterans as it
does on sports!
12/25/2018 11:29 PM
205 I wish we had a conservative party left in America, one that cared about spending, one that still
believed in small government and leaving private citizens alone. Also, the ridiculous hate crimes
legislation needs to be dropped. It's not the government's job to make one group of people more
special than another.
12/25/2018 11:25 PM
206 Indiana needs Hate Crime Legislation that includes transsexuals. 12/25/2018 11:23 PM
207 Republican leadership needs to give hearings to the various cannabis bills being introduced in
2019. If they shut down the conversation again as they did in 2018 and every year before, the
political consequences will be grave come 2020 and beyond.

208 Is it time to apply Unigov to the county's schools? More efficient use of resources. Less overhead -
more $$ for the classroom and instructional staff. Why treat schools differently for other county
services?
12/25/2018 10:53 PM
209 The cruel persecution of the homeless in Indy is an atrocity, but not at all surprising. 12/25/2018 10:50 PM
210 Hemp & Medicinal Marijuana, Please!!!!! 12/25/2018 10:44 PM
211 Decisions need to be local. My wife is a 10+ yr public school teacher in a INDY township. Let the
market decide pay rates. And it is. They have a qualified teacher “shortage” now rates gotta tick
up. Privatization of education would also sky rocket teacher pay and student achievement.
12/25/2018 10:41 PM
212 Hate crimes bill, fund DCS, fight drug addictions and pay teachers. 12/25/2018 10:39 PM

  • 16. Q15 Got any other thoughts you'd like to share? Answered: 212 Skipped: 355 # RESPONSES DATE 1 Indiana should follow the will of its electorate, and the lead of 33 states, and legalize cannabis for both medical and recreational use. 1/1/2019 5:22 PM 2 Safety on our city streets is what makes living enjoyable. Law enforcement and educating everyone to obey laws for the good of society are a one/two approach for government at all levels. It begins in the home with the mother and father together bringing up their children. 1/1/2019 2:22 PM 3 Legal cannabis for Indiana. 1/1/2019 10:51 AM 4 We need to pay more attention to Veterans issues including theiliyary Family Relief Fund, homles vets, education assistance and Veteran Treatment Courts 12/31/2018 12:09 PM 5 Raising pay for DCS and teachers is also high priority. AN extensive investigation into the effectiveness of the Indiana Department of Affairs and by extension the Veteran Service Officers of each county. Many of them do not do their job well, causing our veterans to suffer. 12/31/2018 9:01 AM 6 We need to make sure that Veterans are given priority in job opportunities that are funded with state and federal monies and are treated fairly and honored for their service. 12/31/2018 7:26 AM 7 As long as the GOP stays i lock step with President Trump their fortunes will wane and their credibility wiill contune to be in shambles. 12/31/2018 1:43 AM 8 DCS has a management problem. State needs to deal will drug problem, low teatcher and state worker pay while managing state budget. School boards need to do more for teachers and less for admin. 12/30/2018 11:03 PM 9 Marijuana legalization 12/30/2018 4:40 PM 10 Let the people vote to decriminalize marijuana Colorado passed medical marijuana 18 years ago Let's get out of the 1950's please 12/30/2018 2:29 PM 11 WE NEED TO ENSURE THAT VETERANS WHO SERVED THEIR NATION AND DEFENDED THOSE WHO HAVE NOT NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF NOW THAT THEY HAVE RETURNED TO CIVILIAN LIFE. ALL LEAGISLATIVE MEMBERS NEED TO FOCUS ON THE DRAFT VETERANS NEEDS BY THE VETERANS ADVOCATE GROUP HEADED BY RETIRED BG (R) BAUERLE VETERAN ADVISOR TO THE GOVERNER. LASTLY THE STATEHOUSE NEEDS TO REVISE ITS RULES THAT NOT ALLOW A COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN TO DECIDE BY HIMSELF TO NOT LET POTENTIAL LEGISLATIVE PROPOSED ACTIONS DIEWITHOUT INPUT AND VOTING BY THE THOSE REPRESENTATIVES FROM AROUND THIS STATE. 12/30/2018 12:34 PM 12 Hate Crime bill and legalization of marijuana needs to be passed. Legalize marijuana and tax the hell out if it. 12/30/2018 12:15 PM 13 No 12/30/2018 12:12 PM 14 State Assembly, clamp down on school voucher programs and charter schools. Provide oversight, stop blurring the line between state and religion when it comes to education and business. 12/30/2018 11:53 AM 15 No to thought crime legislation or in state tuition for illegal aliens. 12/30/2018 10:21 AM 16 Indiana needs more customer choice for electric utility customers including renewable energy such as wind and solar 12/30/2018 10:00 AM 17 Hogsett has got to find some courage and actually begin leading. 12/30/2018 9:16 AM 18 Hogsett and the city counsel need to dedicate walking patrols in the mile square. The patrols should harass the WD as much as permissible. DPW needs to wash the sidewalks on monument circle every night with high pressure hoses. All trash including shopping carts and milk crates should be removed. If elected officials can’t do their job, citizens need to step in and harass the WD. 12/30/2018 8:02 AM 19 Need to stop funding--Charter schools, On-line schools and cut back on vouchers--Use the money to give to locals to raise teacher pay. 12/30/2018 7:55 AM 16 / 26 Take Our Indy Politics Informal End of Year Assessment
  • 17. 20 Thanks for the survey! 12/30/2018 7:44 AM 21 The boot heel of the government removed from the necks of business. Removal of 75% of beauracrats and replace them with labor who can make decisions and actually accomplish the simplistic, such as hitting a pothole on the way to work, get to work, get in a pickup, throw a pile of cold mix into said pickup and go back and fill the pothole you just hit. Genius! 12/30/2018 7:30 AM 22 Legalize medical and recreational cannabis 12/29/2018 11:43 PM 23 Why is the Marion County Prosecutor not being called out for his failures in crime prevention? 12/29/2018 10:55 PM 24 Indy should become the state's first sanctuary city for cannabis users 12/29/2018 9:36 PM 25 Medical cannabis needs to be legalized and priority. 12/29/2018 6:50 PM 26 Veterans should not have to pay state tax 12/29/2018 3:17 PM 27 We need to decriminalize marijuana in Indiana and make it legal for ages 21 and older like alcohol is because truthfully alcohol is far way more dangerous than marijuana will ever be I honestly say let's legalize marijuana and ban alcohol totally but we know that would never happen if not legalize marijuana for everyone at least for medicinal use for mental health patients like myself that would rather be prescribed marijuana than take all these pills a day like I take over 9 pills a day and if marijuana was able to be prescribed by a doctor I would only have to only take marijuana and maybe one or two pills a day 12/29/2018 12:41 PM 28 The legislature needs to appropriate more funds for assisting veterans with treatment of TBI and PTSD. We need also to make Indiana more attractive to retired veterans to move here by changing the tax laws. 12/29/2018 12:18 PM 29 Need continued emphasis on opioid crisis, health of minors to include raising tobacco access to 21 years old and obesity programs, and increased benefits/care for Veterans. 12/29/2018 11:46 AM 30 Legalize cannabis 12/29/2018 9:39 AM 31 Not a user but did the research on Cannabis and Indiana should legalize like other states and use the revenue where needed. Looks to me like we should make alcohol illegal. 12/29/2018 7:55 AM 32 Get a professional to write your survey next time, if you want questions presented in a way as to not slant the results. 12/29/2018 7:27 AM 33 Money can’t solve the people problem Indy has. I retired from IMPD. The drugs, alcohol, and social ills need an innovative solution that hasn’t been found yet. This needs to be attacked street by street. 12/29/2018 6:32 AM 34 Legalize cannibis 12/29/2018 6:30 AM 35 Medical Cannabis needs to be a issue brought up and voted on .It`s time! 12/29/2018 6:25 AM 36 Indiana should legalize recreational cannabis. The history of prohibition is one of hysteria and racism. It’s unbecoming a free nation. I’m a responsible citizen. Using marijuana should be my choice. 12/29/2018 5:18 AM 37 Legalize marijuana. 12/28/2018 11:41 PM 38 I continue to be frustrated by the polarization in government. Servant leadership doesn't exist anymore. Parties are at each other's throats and neither is looking out for the best interests of us citizens. 12/28/2018 11:36 PM 39 Prioritize Cannabis for Indiana!! Medical and recreational. Leading to more income, more jobs, and better healthcare. Become a leading state in hemp also. Catch up!! 12/28/2018 11:08 PM 40 Income tax relief for military pay and retitee 12/28/2018 10:21 PM 41 What I feel are the most important issues that need to be addressed were not listed on this survey. Cannabis legalization and decriminalization, and healthcare affordability 12/28/2018 9:53 PM 42 LEGALIZE MARIJUANA 12/28/2018 9:49 PM 43 Legalize Marijuana both Medical and recreational. 12/28/2018 9:05 PM 44 Decriminalize and legalize medical cannabis as a top priority! A balanced budget will fall in line with legalization. 12/28/2018 8:23 PM 17 / 26 Take Our Indy Politics Informal End of Year Assessment
  • 18. 45 Legalize cannabis, decriminalization of possession of marijuana. Stiffer penalties for meth and heroine dealers. Increase age for tobacco sale. Stiffer/death penalties for pedophiles and sex trafficking. It's time to make examples of those who poison others with narcotics and those who harm childern. The current slap on the wrist doesn't work. 12/28/2018 7:08 PM 46 I want to see decriminalization of small amount of marijuana for personal or medical use. Hoosiers need this option and not another non-violent person needs put in jail for this plant. 12/28/2018 7:06 PM 47 Cannabis and hemp should be the top priority imo. It's time to end the nonsense of prohibition. 12/28/2018 6:19 PM 48 Yes, it’s time for Indiana to legalize cannabis use in our state!! 12/28/2018 5:49 PM 49 Why is animal reform never on these surveys? Indiana has some of the worst animal laws/protections statewide. Also, Indiana basically promotes puppy mills. It’d be nice to see one leader take a stance & make sure animals are protected. This also needs to include livestock. Livestock in Indiana can easily be neglected/abused because almost no laws exist to protect them. 12/28/2018 5:48 PM 50 Indiana's constitution needs to be changed so that we the people can use ballot initiatives to change laws and make new laws. Our legislators, republican and democrat, have ignored our will on many subjects for many years. They promise anything to get elected, then do whatever they please instead of representing our wishes. 12/28/2018 5:47 PM 51 Lawmakers #1 job should be to show up, shut up and stop spending my money. Oh and if they want to leagalize thc then that’s ok too. 12/28/2018 5:45 PM 52 Please legalize marijuana at least medically in Indiana. We are too far behind in too many ways. Legalization would bring in tons of tax dollars that could be used to better our failing schools and reinvest on failing cities, such as South Bend, Gary... etc. 12/28/2018 5:44 PM 53 Indiana needs to legalize cannabis. That could give us teacher raises, 25 percent less opioid overdose deaths, less arrests-not needing bigger jails, less prosecutors needed, less court time wasted, less lives ruined, less dcs cases, less police hours wasted, more jobs in the thriving cannabis market....the list goes on and on for the positive. It is a draconian law that needs changed. 12/28/2018 5:29 PM 54 Indiana needs to get on board with marijuana legalization / decriminalization. All of our neighbors are on board, as well as, more thann half of our nation is on board. Marijuana is naturally medicinal. Why would alcohol be legal when it is so destructive to so many lives? It's time to allow adults over 21 to have a choice. Let's go Indiana! The folks of our wonderful state are counting on you. 12/28/2018 5:28 PM 55 I can Not understand for the life of me why Withholding “Medical Marijuana” at minimum; for medical use is such an issue. I could list at well over 50 people I personally know in Hamilton County alone who are suffering from Cancer, Spinal damage, Chronic Pain, Neuropathies, Fibromyalgi, COPD, Severe Anxiety, Severe Panic disorders and the list goes on. We can’t get relief from medical Doctors anymore “Oh sorry, Red Flag if I write you a prescription” because of “The Opiod” epidemic, so we suffer 24/7. Who are you to decide we have to live like this? It’s NOT living, it’s existing. You make the laws we have to legally abide by and it’s NOT fair we have to suffer like this. We should have the right to choose an alternative all natural way to hopefully heal ourselves or at least have a bit more quality of life with what time we have left. Stop playing God, he gave us this plant as food and medicine and you have No right to keep it from us. As far as the BS “It’s a gateway drug” that’s insane!!! Young and Old are going to use whatever they want if they are seeking a bigger high “legal or illegal We don’t all fit that profile. “We deserve the right to try”. Because Big Pharma and the medical system in whole has failed us miserably. Myself personally; I have been denied disability by the State of Indiana. I am denied medication to “at even minimally” relieve severe pain which has led to severe anxiety and insomnia. I am a law abiding citizen and my only option is to leave this State if something doesn’t change. Unfortunately due to my health and not being able to find a decent paying job at this time because of, I can’t even afford to pick up move and start over at my age! What are people like me suppose to do. NO FUNDING to help us now is there? What’s left? Absolutely NOTHING! Oh wait: Yes there is, Alcohol and Tylenol etc. to rot our liver and cause more damage to our bodies! Legalize for medical purposes, MRI’s and numerous tests Do Not Lie. IT’s ALL WE HAVE LEFT TO TRY!!!!! 12/28/2018 5:24 PM 56 Medical Cannabis is the top priority. Eric Holcomb and Brian Bosma need to return the blood money bribes they accepted from murderers Eli Lilly. This explains why Indiana has an opiod epidemic. Very evil. 12/28/2018 5:16 PM 57 Legalize medical cannabis 12/28/2018 4:54 PM 18 / 26 Take Our Indy Politics Informal End of Year Assessment
  • 19. 58 Marijuana reform and legalization should be a top priority for this years session. 12/28/2018 4:28 PM 59 We need to join the over 3/5 of the country by untying our medical professional’s hands with government overreach in regards to treatment options with medical marijuana. Additionally, the policy we implement needs to protect the decisions made between doctors and patients in neighboring states so that our family and friends, some of whom are previous Hoosiers themselves, don’t have to make the horrible decision to never visit their loved ones in Indiana or go without the medicine that they require because of the risk of criminal punishment. 12/28/2018 4:03 PM 60 Medical and/or recreational marijuana. Revenue would be great. 12/28/2018 3:06 PM 61 Legalizeation of medical and recerational cannabis 12/28/2018 3:03 PM 62 General Assembly should prioritize reforming our cannabis laws during the 2019 session. Time to decriminalize or legalize. Most people do not want there tax dollars being used to mess up others lives, by throwing them into the system, over a plant. They've been doing it for decades and we all know it. Its time to take away the things that only further divide this country. Way too much division in this country nowadays... 12/28/2018 2:50 PM 63 We should legalize recreational marijuana, and open up our restrictive ballot access laws so the Green Party can get on the ballot. 12/28/2018 2:31 PM 64 If you are Mayor of Indianapolis and don’t want to be evaluated on how well you fight crime, you should not trumpet how great you will be a fighting crime and how you should be assessed on your effectiveness at doing so. What about veterans’ issues?! 12/28/2018 2:23 PM 65 It’s past time to legalize medical marijuana. 12/28/2018 1:57 PM 66 There needs to be a stronger effort made to eliminate township government; it's ineffective, inefficient and unnecessary. Have you seen the level of tax dollars that have accumulated in their bank accounts? Their current responsibilities can be carried out by counties and/or cities and towns. I would like to see you latch on to CNHI's reporting and promote this initiative. Keep up the good work, Abdul. Happy New Year to you and the lovely Mrs. Shabazz. 12/28/2018 1:49 PM 67 Getting Medical Cannabis like our neighbors are doing. 12/28/2018 1:24 PM 68 We need to legalize marijuana...the revenue would really help our state and adults are going to do it anyway so why should Michigan get our money 12/28/2018 1:21 PM 69 Medical and/or Recreational Marijuana should be legal. 12/28/2018 1:13 PM 70 Indiana needa to get out of the dark ages and decriminalize cannabis in all forms it would bring in so much money we could give food and housing to the homeless we could give the extra funds to schools and we could use the money to fix our roads and infrastructure and on top of all that we could cut the overdose rates by 26% if cannabis was legal in Indiana. Indiana is losing a lot of people because our government won't listen to what it's people want. Which is legal cannabis! 12/28/2018 1:09 PM 71 Legalize cannabis for medical and recreational use 12/28/2018 1:08 PM 72 Legalizing medical and or recreational cannabis would fund the programs that Indiana needs help funding like for teachers, schools, roads, infrastructure, kid programs, homelessness as well as help others with chronic pain, anxiety, depression and over all better health with and without prescription drugs. It's a win for everyone. Our HIP 2.0. Is crap. This state has no decent affordable healthcare on the healthcare marketplace anymore in my position. Indiana either caters to the poor or the rich and the ones in between, trying not to depend on the system get screwed in the fight between sides. The middle class is shrinking. My kids see people passed out on the streets addicted to heroin, and then they get it legally now for free, but legal cannabis is something we have to fight about every year. We waste more money fighting about the same issues over and over than we do attempting to fix it. Indiana government does not listen to what its people want. 12/28/2018 1:05 PM 73 Medical marijuana should be a prior 12/28/2018 1:03 PM 74 Totally legalize cannabis, including recreational. Why miss out on taxing something much of the state partakes? The people want this. The nay-sayers dont have to partake. They can drink alcohol, if they even approve of that! 12/28/2018 1:02 PM 75 They should seriously look around at how much profit the marijauna industry medical and recreational could put into the state. Unless they prefer Illinois and Ohio to keep reaping what should be kept in this state. They will make this a priority or loose big time. 12/28/2018 12:58 PM 76 Weed made legal 12/28/2018 12:54 PM 19 / 26 Take Our Indy Politics Informal End of Year Assessment
  • 20. 77 Legalize Cannabis across the board and propel Indiana into the 20th Century and yes I know I said 20th Century......Indiana is currently about 60 -70 years behind the times........ 12/28/2018 12:51 PM 78 Prioritize Cannabis 12/28/2018 12:48 PM 79 Abdul --- wow great.....excellent job explaining why for political positions. (my issue....unequal treatment of fathers as being the greatest factor to produce crime. Strong believer in equal parenting time and equal support. Your not really better than the person you have children with.) 12/28/2018 12:26 PM 80 More programs and help for Veterans and veteran issues! 12/28/2018 12:00 PM 81 Thank-you Abdul for allowing us to keep up on the political scene, in a very down to earth manner. You Rock! 12/28/2018 11:10 AM 82 Support the Veteran Issues. 12/28/2018 10:12 AM 83 o Indiana should work to attract more veterans to the state as part of its efforts to develop the workforce. Veterans are mature, educated and hard wording assets to any employer. The state should implement incentives comparable to those in surrounding states for veterans to settle Indiana. Incentives must include military income being exempt from state taxes. This issue will be a large part of my personal decision whether or not to reside in Indiana when I retire from the military. 12/28/2018 9:28 AM 84 I have very little regard or respect for our current President; however, I also am not in favor of beating the "Impeachment" drum unless there has been a clear uncovering of "high crimes & misdemeanors" that even his most ardent followers cannot rationalize. I am also not a fan of VP Pence either. 12/28/2018 7:11 AM 85 Indiana is losing way too many veterans to other states because of the income taxes on military pay. Eliminate the income tax and the revenues will go up three times what is lost. Retired Military families support local business, pay taxes on the Civilian income, pay property taxes and sales taxes. Retired military bring drug-free, disciplined, and highly skilled workers to Indiana. Don't leave out the "benefit" in your cost-benefit analysis of eliminating income taxes on military pay. Thank you!! 12/28/2018 6:46 AM 86 Don’t continue to let Indiana fall behind.. legalize pot NOW... Or folks will just make the trip to Mich.. 12/28/2018 1:04 AM 87 I picked infrastructure for #14 but homelessness, panhandlers and generational poverty are real issues that must be addressed. 12/28/2018 12:48 AM 88 .Increase Border Security with some military if necessary. 12/28/2018 12:19 AM 89 Downtown is the worst I’ve ever seen in my 24 years working down here. If they don’t get a handle on it soon, Indiana is in trouble. Because if Indy is hurting, the whole state will feel it. Has anyone seen the mayor lately? Why won’t he act like a mayor and save this city?? He sucks. 12/28/2018 12:17 AM 90 As a Colorado native I can only answer few of your questions that areoutside of state areas 12/27/2018 11:54 PM 91 As a recognized conservative state we do a terrible job when it comes to our veterans. 12/27/2018 11:37 PM 92 The state needs to do a better job of addressing key veteran issues. They just keep tinkering around the edges and never really take significant action to retain and recruit veterans. Investing in veteran programs is an investment in Indiana and will pay for its upfront costs many times over. Specifically, the state needs to exempt current military and military retired pay from income taxes to retain and attract veterans if we are to compete with our surrounding states. The state needs to aggressively improve the Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment test program. There are many other programs sought by the veteran community that will improve life for our Hoosier veterans who have done so much for us. 12/27/2018 11:02 PM 93 Chief Bryan roach has demoralized the police department. The mayor didn’t help in the matter. Read the”war on police” then compare the effects. 12/27/2018 10:48 PM 94 Indianapolis is on the decline with failing infrastructure, increase in crime, rising cost on businesses, property tax increases based on imaginary property value assessments, law enforcement pay below surrounding states, and illegals everywhere. 12/27/2018 10:28 PM 95 Do more to help veterans. Those with PTSD need more medical help, besides giving them pills. And more attention to the growing homeless veterans problem. 12/27/2018 10:21 PM 20 / 26 Take Our Indy Politics Informal End of Year Assessment
  • 21. 96 As a military retiree with 25 years of service, I think veterans who separate or retiree honorably, desire more support with employment and other matters. Veterans are being left behind. Figure out a way for us to get credentialed as teachers if we have 4 Yr degrees from accredited colleges. You have a shortage of teachers and a pool of hard-working Veterans.. what's to think about here? 12/27/2018 9:01 PM 97 Need our legislation do a better job of caring for veterans and their families. 12/27/2018 8:11 PM 98 Veterans need to be taken care of 12/27/2018 8:00 PM 99 Love you Abdul 12/27/2018 7:45 PM 100 Military veterans deserve more economic relief, improved benefits, and more proactive efforts to improve their quality of life. Indiana ranks low on the scale compared to other states in providing benefits for our Guardians of Freedom who return home to re assimulate into the community for which they gave up part of their lives to secure our liberty. Yes, Indiana recognizes veterans, yet more should be done as Veterans age and are too soon forgotten. 12/27/2018 7:44 PM 101 Need legislative attention to veterans matters. To little attention is paid to veterans issues in this state. Need tax reform for military retired pay. 12/27/2018 7:00 PM 102 I'd like to see more veterans issues taken care of in 2019. I'd like to see more on hemp & Veteran courts. 12/27/2018 6:19 PM 103 We need to do more to recognize the problems faced by our veterans. 12/27/2018 5:23 PM 104 No more Utilities increases killing us seniors ! Too many constant.... and sewer is one of worst ones done. 12/27/2018 4:35 PM 105 How can Republicans (who basically control everything in Indiana as well as the Federal Gov’t. accomplish so little?!? Trump’s actions have “numbed” us to truth and the Gov’t’s ability to function. Where are Republican ideals and its leadership? I’m a Democrat who longs for responsible Republicans to again take control of the GOP—our country needs them! 12/27/2018 3:44 PM 106 Awaiting with great anticipation the continued unseating of over 60K sealed federal indictments, of which 1700+ are here in Indiana; and Jim Merritt's unsuccessful mayoral run due to issues raised in the primary. 12/27/2018 3:33 PM 107 Great Job Abdul. I follow you so I know whats going on with Indiana politics because in Northwest Indiana we don't hear a lot about Indiana. 12/27/2018 2:36 PM 108 Strongly concerned with Veteran's issues. 12/27/2018 2:11 PM 109 Enjoy Indy Politics and will follow as long as I can. Thank you. 12/27/2018 11:48 AM 110 The foster care system is being overwhelmed by opioids! It needs more attention than schools! Schools need to be more accountable as to how money is spent! 12/27/2018 11:47 AM 111 I would like to see the General Assembly do more to eliminate useless laws / state regulations, and increase freedom. Do more to reduce, or even eliminate state taxes, especially on businesses and individuals. I gave Gov. Holcomb a C, basically an average grade. It isn't that he is doing a bad job, just not doing a stand-out exemplary job. Doing something bold such as elimination of state income tax, or eliminating state government offices to reduce the footprint of the state government, and thus reduce the overall budget, would help him stand out. 12/27/2018 11:40 AM 112 I would place infrastructure second in the list for Indianapolis 12/27/2018 11:22 AM 113 We need politicians that are more in the middle of the road. Too polarized and they do not represent the vast majority of the citizens. Middle with either a little lean to left or right are more relevant 12/27/2018 11:21 AM 114 I don't live in Indianapolis but work downtown everyday. If I could answer #13 I would say poor. The city looks awful and I do not feel safe walking around downtown at night like I used to. I relate the change in the downtown area since the change in mayoral administration. Something needs to be done. 12/27/2018 10:32 AM 115 Ds and Rs should work together to solve both Indiana’s and the Nation’s issues. • 22. 117 Must control the cost of electric energy production. 20/40% of people are struggling to pay their intilitu bills. Wind and solar are far the most expensive methods. Medicaid is the elephant in the room but so many Hoosiers depend on it. 12/27/2018 9:36 AM 121 Bring back Mitch Daniels as Gov. !!! 12/27/2018 9:28 AM 122 Pass a hate crimes law. 12/27/2018 9:01 AM 123 Merritt for Mayor! 12/27/2018 8:59 AM 124 Keep Indiana Great! 12/27/2018 8:53 AM 125 While I checked 'crime' in #14, all of the issues are equally important because they are all interrelated. 12/27/2018 8:37 AM 126 I have faith that the Republican Party is the best vehicle for continued prosperity in our State. I also believe that the GOP will evolve into a more inclusive organization. 12/27/2018 8:30 AM 127 Would vote Merritt for Mayor. 12/27/2018 7:51 AM 128 Township Trustees need to be consolidated. 12/27/2018 7:48 AM 129 Washington is concerned only about themselves, except Trump. He is watching out for us. And we are blessed with good gov't in Indiana. 12/27/2018 7:38 AM 130 Roads, roads, roads! It’s pathetic the shape of our roads. Not just city streets but the interstates are way to rough, not just potholes! “The crossroads of America” should have the best in the nation! I-65 & I-70 should be three lanes from border to border! 12/27/2018 7:25 AM 131 Indiana is a model state, in many ways, for how other states should align and integrate state policy with veteran and reserve military member support. 12/27/2018 7:24 AM 132 It was hard to choose in #14. Fighting poverty and crime are very important, and related. 12/27/2018 6:39 AM 133 If the Indy/Marion Co crime rate is something that concerns you, I strongly recommend someone in your organization do some investigative reporting into the local judicial system. There are policies in place in the Marion Co system that are limiting repeat violent offenders (involving guns) to probation (no time served) or wearing an ankle bracelet (no time served). With no serious consequences to fear, our system is empowering thugs to continue their destructive behavior on our community. Find a few IMPD offficers willing to talk anonymously; they will share their frustration. 12/26/2018 11:59 PM 134 Need to take care of our veterans. And support a strong defense program 12/26/2018 10:42 PM 135 Re: the last question above, it would seem job training and employment would be a key solution to fighting poverty and panhandling but some people just don't want to work regardless of the opportunities available. 12/26/2018 10:34 PM 136 On the national level, Trump's selection of Environmental leaders and Global Warming position/carbon footprint ideas/public lands management are detrimental to the nation's present and future health - physically, financially, and politically. 12/26/2018 9:28 PM 137 How can so many Hoosiers approve of a President who thoroughly disrespects our military, our government workers, and our Constitution? 12/26/2018 8:48 PM 138 Get rid of DST ! • 23. 142 I answered “expanding sports betting” to question #9 because I believe there is revenue to be had that will allow expansion to the budget for infrastructure, teachers pay et al and the sports gambling landscape is exploding. Indiana residents are gambling on sports but the state is betting notta, might as well capitalize on the opportunity. I answered “job training and employment” to #14 which I believe plays a large roll in crime. I think crime troubles are related heavily to drugs and economic issues. Getting to our youth early and improving their environments, their family structures is going to be where we can really turn the tide, how is the question. -Jason Bledsoe 12/26/2018 7:45 PM 143 Hate crimes legislation is "Thought control" laws...and have NO PLACE in any American state's body of laws. 12/26/2018 7:42 PM 144 I wish I had more confidence that our elected leaders we're capable of doing the right thing. It seems that the political parties control all the money, and therefore control the candidates. Somewhere in that equation, human beings get lost. 12/26/2018 7:15 PM 145 Medical cannabis must be addressed - we have it on the borders and people are asking - if we need tax money it looks like the lower incarceration and tax on sales would be where to find it 12/26/2018 6:44 PM 146 Indiana needs to do more for its veteran population. Currently, only the first $5000 of their income is state tax exempted. Many states, and all the states surrounding Indiana exempt all or almost all military income, including retired pay. 12/26/2018 6:26 PM 147 #14 - Really, All of the above 12/26/2018 6:21 PM 148 1. Police, Fire and Teachers should NOT have to work 2 and 3 jobs just to meet minimal needs of a family. Indiana should be ashamed. 2. After years of being told to purchase cars with good mileage to save national assets (Oil Based Products) and doing so, we are now penalized for having Hybrid cars. 3. NW Indiana roads are some of the worst in the nation. (Drove from NW Ind to NW Arkansas then to CA. No roads came close to the deterioration of Indiana roads, same is true going east or south. I appreciate the surplus and balanced budgets, but those savings are coming on the backs of all tax payers. 4. There is a time when Senior Citizens, who have paid school (property taxes) taxes for their children and grandchildren. NY does not charge school property taxes on those 70 and over. Think about it. There are other states which provide a significantly greater state income tax break for veterans and disabled veterans. 12/26/2018 5:51 PM 149 Provide more benefits to Hoosier combat veterans as in most other states. 12/26/2018 5:42 PM 150 I would like to see more done for veterans issues 12/26/2018 5:31 PM 151 end gerrymandering 12/26/2018 5:31 PM 152 Indiana is not treating fairly in terms or neighboring states 12/26/2018 5:28 PM 153 We need medical marijuana passed to help veterans and citizens 12/26/2018 5:06 PM 154 Legalization of Medical Cannabis should be the number 1 priority right now for Indiana. 12/26/2018 4:37 PM 155 Brian Bosma should resign! What he did to that lady that used to be his intern is unacceptable! 12/26/2018 4:28 PM 156 Veterans issues should be address at a significantly higher level by the Indiana General Assembly and the Administration. Indiana has lost 16.4% of it's veteran population in the last 5 years compared to 10.8% for MI, 11.1% for WI & MO, 11.7% for OH & IA, 13% for KY and 16.5% for IL. Indiana ranks 44th in military retiree population at 4.4% yet is 16th largest veteran population. Changes in IN could gain or keep an estimated 21 THOUSAND workers in Indiana who are highly skilled, disciplined, loyal and exceed expectations in industry! The tax revenue that could be generated by enacting veterans legislation at the state level could add over $214 MILLION annually in Indiana after an estimated 5 years! Additionally, Indiana veterans contribute over $2.9 BILLION to the Indiana economy annually just from the VA benefits they receive that they earned for their service. AND because Indiana does NOT support veteran service officers (like other states do), Indiana lost about $261 MILLION last year and also lost an estimated $261 MILLION in tax revenue!! 12/26/2018 4:13 PM 157 Mayor Hogsett has many issues; Crime is not under control. Crumbling infrastructure A woefully underfunded Parks system Drugs, violence and a homeless problem that is turning our city into a giant trashcan Unions that run the City A city that embraces technology but a city hall that is still in 1999 This is just a few of the things that come to mind! 12/26/2018 4:09 PM 158 I work in downtown Indy. No leadership from Mayor Hogsett. 12/26/2018 4:04 PM 23 / 26 Take Our Indy Politics Informal End of Year Assessment
  • 24. 159 We need to make Indiana more attractive to veterans and restore some of the benefits recently cut at the state house. We need property tax exemption for spouses of Killed in Action service members and we need funding for County Veteran Service Officers. 12/26/2018 3:30 PM 160 We have lived downtown for 15 years. I still feel safe but it has gotten dirty and panhandlers have gotten aggressive. You learn to recognize those who are truly homeless and they are pretty harmless. It is the other scruffy types hanging around with nothing to do that are a problem. University Park is a sad mess because of them. 12/26/2018 3:19 PM 161 Wondering why ending prohibition wasn’t listed as issue for state to focus on. 12/26/2018 3:16 PM 162 Holcomb/Bosna should stop blocking medical marijuana or return all donations from the pharmaceutical companies. 12/26/2018 3:12 PM 163 The legislature needs to restructure DCS instead of giving them the nearly $1 billion requested in their budget proposal. 12/26/2018 2:35 PM 164 The panhandlers have become a serious problem. However, the State keeps such a stranglehold on local governments thru the DLGF, that those financial responsibilities are becoming A State responsibility, almost by default, via the mechanisms they created. 12/26/2018 2:04 PM 169 Lt. Gov. Crouch is vastly overvalued by the IN GOP. Yes, her fundraising is strong, but her ability to manage the LG's office, and even her grasp of Indiana issues, is shockingly weak. 12/26/2018 2:04 PM 170 Question #14 needs to be rank by choice. Homelessness & panhandling (separate issues), infrastructure, crime, less photo ops, and more productivity. 12/26/2018 1:58 PM 171 Hogsett May be the first Democrat I’ll vote for in my entire life but he needs to keep the crime rate low. He should keep working with organizations like ten points to protect our great city 12/26/2018 1:52 PM 172 Crime should be a number #1 priority in this City, but homelessness and poverty cannot be overlooked, as those are 2 key elements in the City's eco-system that are intertwined with job training and employment, but often get overlooked (or ignored) as such. 12/26/2018 1:46 PM 173 Central Time Zone Please! 12/26/2018 1:44 PM 174 Consolidation of township government in Marion county.
