Q12 Should lawmakers have mandated any new money for k-12

1 Increase pay for teachers but DO NOT RAISE TAXES. Taxation should be as minimal as possible.
Legalize cannabis and you’ll have tax money to put towards paying teachers more and other stuff.
5/9/2019 6:27 PM
2 They should be transparrent on where current funds are going. 5/8/2019 9:15 AM

have plenty of money to pay teachers, they just don't want to.

5 I think we need to make it easier for one parents to stay home by shrinking public schools and
paying parents to stay home. Parents then would use a national home schooling system to
educate their kids with the biggest schools staying open for parents that still want brick and mortar
schools. Also for sports and other clubs for kids

see past their own egotistical views of still saying it's not worth legalizing after the thousands of
studies that have proven otherwise. And for state regulation...simply look to and communicate with
Colorado State. Having experiences the in point a s benefits galore that state takes from just the
medical legalization even before the recreational change...no bad roads and the school system
there alone is one of the very best systems you can proudly send your younger one's to even. And
all the expense paid rehabilitation centers and groups for those that truly NEED addiction
recovery, from drugs out that including pharmaceuticals alone, which mind you are Ifact

4 If the minimum wage was increased perhaps some of the crimes people commit for money would
decrease. $7.25 an hour is unacceptable and impossible to live off of. The cost living goes up but
the minimum wage does not even closely meet the cost of living. Also, there should be free
classes for laid off workers pursuing degrees in fields where there is a strong demand such as
nursing. Why should a laid off worker have to keep pursuing jobs in their current field that
continues to lay off workers because companies are sending such jobs overseas. Until companies
stop sending jobs overseas in fields like IT, having training or an education in IT is not a field that
guarantees long term stable employment. Stop companies from sending jobs overseas for cheap
labor.

10 Cannabis needs to be legalized, Indiana has been making a huge mistake waiting. This is costing
the state millions of jobs, billions of dollars, it’s costing us opportunities to improve our state as a
whole. The gun control bills should have never been submitted as well, we need more gun rights
not less. Work on making Indiana a “second amendment sanctuary state” and legalize cannabis
for medical and recreational use. The fact that we haven’t yet goes against all data we have on
legalization and has caused many senseless deaths. Personally, myself and many others have
thought about leaving this state due to their cannabis policies and their increasingly restrictive gun
bills. Constitutional carry is another thing we need. Listen to the people, I have been an activist in
my area for quite some time and everything I have stated has factual support as well as the
support of the people.

27 Why did indiana make hemp flower illegal? Hemp flower is federally legal. Obviously there are
plenty of our lawmakers cashing large checks in agreement to keep cannabis in almost all forms
illegal. On top of that, not even bothering to hear about medical marijuana legalization. We are
being surrounded by legal states; Michigan will be recreational by the end of the year, Illinois
Governor is playing a role in increasing the diversity of hands in the economical pot of cannabis so
the rich do not continue to be more rich while others in small towns cannot even eat, Ohio is
expanding their medical program further. And how about the opioid epidemic which Indiana is the
center of? I continue to see friends and family lose their lives due to prescription drug abuse and
our law makers think that’s perfectly safe but cannabis is harmful? Cannabis has proven to have
neuroprotective properties which correlate with fighting substance abuse. Hoosiers and Americans
deserve better and for our lawmakers to collect checks from Lilly is absolutely disgusting.
Lawmakers are not thinking or acting truly of the people they are supposedly to be representing.
Want to have a nice car, nice house, nice boat, nice school for your kids?? Work with the people
not with corporations writing checks to shut you up. Finding a great legislation to put into place
that regulates the sales and prescriptions of medical cannabis. Work with the owners of
pharmaceutical grade CBD stores all over the state that can help guide what the people are
looking for and needing. I also want to mention how awful our child protective services are in
Indiana. Too many kids are being starved and if there were not programs for school meals they
would die. And what about druggy parents selling food stamps for meth? That’s not under our
lawmakers control but I can tell you what is.... child protective services, school districts, drug
abuse programs. Drug abuse programs in Indiana are garbage. From personal experience, I could
not find an inpatient program for a family member who is an alcoholic. Not only that, his doctor
prescribed him two different anxiety medications which blatantly shouldn’t be used together nor
use with alcohol, after calling the doctor and speaking with nurses that he does not need any
medications because he will just abuse them or take them while he is drinking alcohol. The man
drank with the meds and ended up blacking out with a result of arrest due to invasion of privacy
but very well could have ended much worse. Has any lawmaker reading this ever experienced
trying to help a loved one with an addiction? Obviously not because we legalize Sunday alcohol
sales (last session) over hemp flower (latest session) which has absolutely zero addictive
properties but hundreds, maybe thousands of beneficial health properties. Get your head in the
right place, lawmakers!! You work for the people, not the other way around! Soon enough
recreational cannabis will be flooding our state from the north and will have no choice but to
legalize or lose billions of dollars in tax revenue. Wonder what we could do with that tax revenue?
Let’s use Colorado as an example and put that money on our teachers paychecks, fixing the
roads, funding our child protective programs, and creating state funded substance abuse
programs.

need to address the drug epidemic in Indiana with REAL solutions to the probably. I see legalizing
medical marijuana as a step toward that. Revenue can be used to fund better programs and give
law enforcement more funds to crack down dealers/manufacturers vs users. Lastly, the roads. We
keep being taxed to fix them but yet our infrastructure continues to crumble. I live in a rural part of

be investigated but no one has answers. Yet I just met a lady today who has basically put her lung
cancer in remission because of cannabis treatment. Who wouldn’t want that for the people they
serve. I work in the medical field specializing in lungs, please look into this. Put it on a ballot!!!!!!
5/7/2019 10:11 PM
59 Listen to the will of the voters: Legalize medical cannabis! 5/7/2019 10:06 PM
60 If Holcomb won’t allow Cannabis reform, he needs to go. 5/7/2019 10:05 PM

61 Indianapolis has become a cesspool of crime, bad roads, and meth heads. I am ashamed of how
trashy this city has become. Someone needs to step up and fix it and quit making laws that benefit
the rich.
5/7/2019 9:53 PM
62 I identify as a Republican, however I’m SICK of most of the republican representation we have
down there. Not all. I do approve of Heath Vanatter, Mike Karickhoff and Jim Lucas. The rest,
including our governor can kiss my ass! Hopefully Hoosiers will wisen up and get rid of the rest
and get some people who care about what the people want and not what benefits the parties and
their pockets.
5/7/2019 9:49 PM
63 Stop letting big pharm control the state , it's a major reason for our drug problem 5/7/2019 9:48 PM
64 We as a state need to look outside of Indiana and see what's working. 5/7/2019 9:47 PM
65 Eliminate payday lending, increase smoking tax, pay teachers, overhaul Indiana justice system,
$15/hour minimum wage in the city, fix potholes, and give veterans better benefits.
5/7/2019 9:44 PM
66 Every person in this state wants medical marijuana. People are in pain or sick and would help
them alot but the governor doesnt seem to care about the people in the state of Indiana. We will
be the last state to have Medical marijuana and that's whats gonna hurt our state. State officials
and the governor works for us not the other way around. We as adults should have a choice of
what we want passed not discussed behind closed doors. I will not be voting for Eric Holcome next
election as many many many others isnt either. Hope he enjoyed his time and fat pockets in
power. Good bye former govonor Holcome
5/7/2019 9:43 PM
67 Just that we need to come on and get Indiana's marijuana laws reformed so people who need it
can get the medicine they need
5/7/2019 9:42 PM
68 Cannabis reform! 5/7/2019 9:40 PM
69 Yeah get with the program we need medical marijuana and rec in order to get this state back to
how it should be just left Colorado and they got their stuff together.
5/7/2019 9:40 PM
70 Legalize Cannabis Indiana its a plant that's medically helping people across invisible state lines 5/7/2019 9:34 PM
71 Reform Indianas marijuana laws. Legalize medical marijuana. Push for more renewable and clean
energy.
5/7/2019 9:31 PM
72 Question one implies I belong to the R or D. I am an L. 5/7/2019 9:30 PM
73 Primary turnout is low because local media painted the primary like there were no choices
available. What a huge disservice to their customers.
5/7/2019 12:09 PM
74 I've lived in Indianapolis for about 2 years. I moved here from Michigan. It is shocking coming from
an adjacent state just how behind the times Indiana is compared to its neighbors. The growth and
prosperity of Indiana and Hoosiers is stunted by people who want to keep Indiana in the past,
despite the rhetoric about moving toward the future.
5/7/2019 10:13 AM
75 It should be up to the local school boards to decide teacher pay and not the state. It is time to keep
local issues local.
5/7/2019 6:36 AM
76 Crime is also a concern in Indianapolis 5/7/2019 6:34 AM
77 The poor conditions of our roads and bridges is primarily a states funding issue - not Mayor Joe's
fault. The blame should fall at the feet of the Indiana General Assembly and the super-majority
leaders, including especially Bosma and Merritt. They are both even from Indy, and still they've
allowed the state to underfund Marion County's roads for years - its disgraceful. For Merritt to now
blame the potholes on Joe is the biggest hypocritical move I've seen in politics for years. I find
most of the Statehouse R's disgusting (save J. Ruckelshaus). Merritt's mayoral campaign is a joke.
5/6/2019 11:36 AM
78 Leadership lacking in the city government 5/6/2019 11:01 AM
79 I don't think caucus is the problem with the legislature I think the problem with lack of transparency
stems from many committees moving to hearing a bill one week and then doing amend and vote
only on it the second week and allowing no testimony on the amendments -- saw several times
where the bill was completely or dramatically changed this session with no opportunity for public
testimony. This is where the concern should lie. Also, with Republican supermajorities -- this
legislature and Governor are too timid and not doing big, bold transformational changes.
5/6/2019 9:54 AM
80 There is a lot of Indiana "outside 465". 5/3/2019 9:48 AM
39 / 42
Take Our Informal Post Sine Die Poll
81 As we mourn the passing of a great leader and visionary former mayor, it is depressing to think
how Indy is currently deteriorating under Mayor Hogsett. What's wrong? Let me count the ways:
Violent crime, in particular, gun violence, is way up. Trash, litter and illegal dumping makes the city
look awful. Response to pothole crisis has not been nearly enough. I have always been proud to
bring guests downtown. Now, I am embarrassed.
5/2/2019 10:16 AM
82 Messmer is positioning for Brays job. It is my hope that the blowjob of a bill the gaming legislation
was will be investigated. $100m to $5m with a 40m tax credit was ridiculous. Smh
5/1/2019 8:54 PM
83 Let's get the sportsbooks open! 5/1/2019 2:30 PM
84 Would give the Governor a grade higher than 'C', but he keeps moving the goal posts on issues
(e.g. bias crimes), and is unwilling to use the "power" that comes with 206 to achieve goals initially
set at the start of session.
5/1/2019 1:52 PM
85 Consolidation of the 3 remaining Township Fire Departments should occur and also the
elimination of Township Government in Marion County!!
5/1/2019 8:44 AM
86 This survey is brutally flawed. No reason not to have at least a top three agenda items. These
lawmakers are professionals, whether anyone wants to admit that or not, and should be able to
churn out more than one significant piece of legislation per session. The budget is always going to
be most important, but there's no reason under the sun that gaming, teacher pay, and marijuana
legislation should not have moved into this decade. And oh by the way, I was recently in Utah
(yes, Utah), where I bought cold beer in a gas station. Sure, it by law had to be carried out in a
bag, so as to not offend any paying Mormons (I guess?), but still, I bought cold beer. In a gas
station. In Utah. Just let that sink in for a minute.
4/30/2019 9:52 PM
87 It is a joke to have called this a historic session for education - certainly not public education.
Without holding virtual schools and charters accountable, it is a farce to have given them more
money than traditional schools.
4/30/2019 9:07 PM
88 My biggest concern is the consistent and intentional weakening of public schools. While school
choice sounds good and fair, it is not worth the funds it takes away from public education. Public
schools are the bedrock of our democracy. As a Republican with a minority opinion on school
choice, I am frustrated at my party's stance.
4/30/2019 6:36 PM
89 Indiana needs to progress on some things like cannabis, gambling, and infrastructure spending.. I
like how smart we are with the Budget but we could spend some or give it back to the tax payer
4/30/2019 2:00 PM
90 Veterans issues were not addressed adequately in this year's GA. 4/30/2019 12:34 PM
91 Stop giving away corporate tax incentives, negotiate better health care insurance rates, and
support the middle working class, NOT the top 1% and corporate interests. STOP coddling fossil
fuel cos.! Get on board the alternative energy train. And speaking of train, the STATE needs to be
better connected. Why not hi-speed light rail to Chicago, Ft. Wayne, South Bend, Evansville,
Lafayette?
4/30/2019 12:28 PM
92 I’m a Jim Merritt fan 4/30/2019 10:36 AM
93 Although I do not live in Indianapolis it is the driver for the success of our surrounding counties.
Roads and homelessness/panhandlers are both serious that need to be addressed for us to
continue to be a region that attracts businesses, jobs, conventions and tourism
4/30/2019 9:47 AM
94 Cant really say the country is on the right track, when congress will not do any, ANY work. The
dems have been a joke and Paul Ryan a roadblock. A shameful sight.
4/30/2019 9:38 AM
95 We live in a sad time so many hurting so many abused so many Raped and molested un-reported
among us. Rape kits shelved. Attorney General That is a Disappointment to His Race Gender
profession.
4/30/2019 9:13 AM
96 Indiana Republicans need a populist wave. 4/30/2019 8:53 AM
97 Joe Hogsett is a politician not an CEO. I would vote for a democrat if they had experience running
a successful organization. I am concerned that Jim Merritt does not have those skills either. Roads
suck, permits and compliance suck, homeless solution is a joke, city council is camp runamok.
4/30/2019 8:39 AM
98 On question 19, re: most important question facing Indianapolis, I answered roads, but I also think
that crime is right up there at the top with roads.
4/30/2019 8:39 AM
99 We need more “Lugarers” and less “Trumpers” in government. 4/30/2019 8:19 AM
40 / 42
Take Our Informal Post Sine Die Poll
100 The Indiana GOP needs to do more to curtail the devastation President Trump us doing. The
Indiana Dems need to get it together, have candidates in EVERY county & get things done!
Holcomb is ok, better than Pence. He needs to give DWD more $ & more help though.
4/30/2019 7:45 AM
101 Holcomb should have used some political capital to put the screws on a real hate crimes bill. 4/30/2019 7:38 AM
102 Some state employees pay ie entry level secretary is a joke. Job banks show a starting pay of
around $18,500 for full time work! Way to set the bar for pay.
4/30/2019 7:36 AM
103 It was a bit absurd how little the Senate seemed to do this year. Almost no major bill came from
the Senate and, if they did, they had to be fixed by the House.
4/29/2019 8:04 AM
104 State budget writers are saying local communities will need to fund their prioroties. Urban school
districts and rural school districts are in need of school funding to compete for talent in higher
paying easier classrooms in the suburbs. Huston is playing politics for his own constituency when
he says he is unaware how teaching a child in poverty is more costly than a child not in poverty.
Zionsville increased 350 per pupil and IPS increaased 230 per pupil. Similar story for Carmel and
HSE. Equitable funding is needed based on need, not equal funding.
4/28/2019 2:10 PM
105 The Indiana legislature continues to move Indiana backwards catering to the most extreme wing of
the Republican party which is not representative of the state as a whole. Governor Holcomb has
been ineffectual in terms of being a moderating influence.
4/28/2019 12:40 PM
106 Term limits please and redraw the district lines 4/28/2019 11:07 AM
107 Question 6 is poorly conceived because it conflates the House and Senate. I give the Senate an F
and the House an A.
4/28/2019 10:31 AM
108 We shouldn’t have a $2 billion surplus when everyday needs aren’t being met 4/28/2019 9:58 AM
109 I am so sad for our country. 4/28/2019 9:15 AM
110 Roads & Infrastructure, Economic Development & Jobs — these are two sides of the same coin.
The most important investments we can make are structural, upstream shifts that promote growth,
inclusion, and investment downstream. Bias crimes legislation, investment in opportunity and skills
development for all, maintaining and prioritizing infrastructure, and attracting top tier firms and
talent — these are the upstream priorities.
4/28/2019 9:07 AM
111 The one simple thing I always go back to show how corrupt our local government is cold beer.
They are in the pockets of the liquor store association and they won’t pass it or they will lose their
meal ticket. Republicans are supposed to support the free market right? What a joke they are and
they think we don’t see it!
4/28/2019 9:03 AM
112 80% of Hoosiers support medical marijuana. A terminal patient can not access it under RTT even
though it’s a legal med in 3 surrounding states that passed phase I safety trials in US. My
prediction is Kirchofer (won by only 200 votes) will lose reelection. Bosma and Holcomb as well.
Indiana is failing to listen to Hoosiers and there will be repercussions.
4/28/2019 8:47 AM
113 It’s hard to say we have a fiscally conservative Governor and legislature when they raise taxes and
fees each session.
4/28/2019 8:33 AM
114 We need a regional approach to our opportunities and problems. 4/28/2019 8:21 AM
115 Dipping into the “sequestered ‘Gas Tax for Roads’” has rightfully angered Rs. Pure BS. 4/28/2019 8:16 AM
116 You ugly. You your daddy’s son. 4/28/2019 8:15 AM
117 visit schools to see what teachers really deal with 4/28/2019 8:13 AM
118 Another year, another bunch of people thrown in jail for victimless crimes. Every day citizens are
extorted for their hard earned money over minor infractions while simultaneously having their
paychecks stolen from to pay for lackluster services that fail at every point. We started a war and
fought for our independence 200+ years ago over a 3% tax rate and now people are happy to pay
almost 40% directly from their paychecks. The founding fathers are turning in their graves.
4/28/2019 8:07 AM
119 City - taking guns from law abiding citizens will not lower the crime rate. Indy more murders per
Capital than any other city in the country is embarrassing and the streets are pitiful. Fix them right
the first time! State level- stop raising taxes!!!! When will you make electric car drivers help pay
their fair share of the road tax the rest of us who drive gas cars pay at the pump? Federal - House
where is the budget, Senate - where is the leadership and WH - build the wall!

121 Pathetic session. GOP obsession with surplus is disgusting. I want my taxes to pay for things that
benefit all Hoosiers. Holcomb is weak. Caved on bias crimes. Gaming ties of Bosma and Holcomb
disgusting. Indiana GOP is Pay to Play. Hopefully Curtis Hill stayed home on Sine Die
4/28/2019 7:53 AM
122 As a committed Republican, Holcomb had lost all my support primarily due to his stance on the
Bias Crimes legislation and his position on marijuana. He needs to go!
4/28/2019 7:53 AM
123 Your poll is too simplistic 4/28/2019 7:52 AM

Answered: 126 Skipped: 292 # RESPONSES DATE 1 Governor: Listen to WE the PEOPLE of Indiana and stop telling us YOU know what's best for us! 5/11/2019 8:15 PM 2 Change for a better society as a whole state, and ridding anyone who doesn't 'believe in' legalizing marijuana at this point at least to a medical level. Need to be replaced with a open minded that can see past their own egotistical views of still saying it's not worth legalizing after the thousands of studies that have proven otherwise. And for state regulation...simply look to and communicate with Colorado State. Having experiences the in point a s benefits galore that state takes from just the medical legalization even before the recreational change...no bad roads and the school system there alone is one of the very best systems you can proudly send your younger one's to even. And all the expense paid rehabilitation centers and groups for those that truly NEED addiction recovery, from drugs out that including pharmaceuticals alone, which mind you are Ifact government approved to take and abused daily...those are all TRUE BENEFITS that come something as citizen helping and life saving to economy and onward positive outcomes. 5/11/2019 12:47 PM 3 I am back home after 13 years and am appalled by the state of this city. Very sad, indeed 5/11/2019 12:35 PM 4 If the minimum wage was increased perhaps some of the crimes people commit for money would decrease. $7.25 an hour is unacceptable and impossible to live off of. The cost living goes up but the minimum wage does not even closely meet the cost of living. Also, there should be free classes for laid off workers pursuing degrees in fields where there is a strong demand such as nursing. Why should a laid off worker have to keep pursuing jobs in their current field that continues to lay off workers because companies are sending such jobs overseas. Until companies stop sending jobs overseas in fields like IT, having training or an education in IT is not a field that guarantees long term stable employment. Stop companies from sending jobs overseas for cheap labor. 5/10/2019 3:48 PM 5 Legalize cannabis already 5/10/2019 10:14 AM 6 Raise teacher, first responder pay!! 5/10/2019 6:01 AM 7 Why are we still living in the past 5/9/2019 9:15 PM 8 Our medical system is a joke. Medical insurance does not work for middle class citizens. War on drugs is a joke as well. 5/9/2019 8:21 PM 9 Charge churches property tax 5/9/2019 7:32 PM 10 Cannabis needs to be legalized, Indiana has been making a huge mistake waiting. This is costing the state millions of jobs, billions of dollars, it’s costing us opportunities to improve our state as a whole. The gun control bills should have never been submitted as well, we need more gun rights not less. Work on making Indiana a “second amendment sanctuary state” and legalize cannabis for medical and recreational use. The fact that we haven’t yet goes against all data we have on legalization and has caused many senseless deaths. Personally, myself and many others have thought about leaving this state due to their cannabis policies and their increasingly restrictive gun bills. Constitutional carry is another thing we need. Listen to the people, I have been an activist in my area for quite some time and everything I have stated has factual support as well as the support of the people. 5/9/2019 6:27 PM 11 Vote Holcomb out. 5/9/2019 5:38 PM 12 There is no reason for marijuana to be illegal. We the citizens know that it is only still illegal because Eli Lilly is lobbying. The government does not have the well being of the people in mind. If we legalized marijuana, so much tax revenue could be brought in that we would be able to fix problems such as the surplus amount of potholes, low teacher pay, and more. 5/9/2019 11:18 AM 13 Republicans in the General Assembly are not making this a better state for its people. They have failed miserably. 5/9/2019 10:44 AM 14 QQuestion #15 is not a fair question. • 37. 27 Why did indiana make hemp flower illegal? Hemp flower is federally legal. Obviously there are plenty of our lawmakers cashing large checks in agreement to keep cannabis in almost all forms illegal. On top of that, not even bothering to hear about medical marijuana legalization. We are being surrounded by legal states; Michigan will be recreational by the end of the year, Illinois Governor is playing a role in increasing the diversity of hands in the economical pot of cannabis so the rich do not continue to be more rich while others in small towns cannot even eat, Ohio is expanding their medical program further. And how about the opioid epidemic which Indiana is the center of? I continue to see friends and family lose their lives due to prescription drug abuse and our law makers think that’s perfectly safe but cannabis is harmful? Cannabis has proven to have neuroprotective properties which correlate with fighting substance abuse. Hoosiers and Americans deserve better and for our lawmakers to collect checks from Lilly is absolutely disgusting. Lawmakers are not thinking or acting truly of the people they are supposedly to be representing. Want to have a nice car, nice house, nice boat, nice school for your kids?? Work with the people not with corporations writing checks to shut you up. Finding a great legislation to put into place that regulates the sales and prescriptions of medical cannabis. Work with the owners of pharmaceutical grade CBD stores all over the state that can help guide what the people are looking for and needing. I also want to mention how awful our child protective services are in Indiana. Too many kids are being starved and if there were not programs for school meals they would die. And what about druggy parents selling food stamps for meth? That’s not under our lawmakers control but I can tell you what is.... child protective services, school districts, drug abuse programs. Drug abuse programs in Indiana are garbage. From personal experience, I could not find an inpatient program for a family member who is an alcoholic. Not only that, his doctor prescribed him two different anxiety medications which blatantly shouldn’t be used together nor use with alcohol, after calling the doctor and speaking with nurses that he does not need any medications because he will just abuse them or take them while he is drinking alcohol. The man drank with the meds and ended up blacking out with a result of arrest due to invasion of privacy but very well could have ended much worse. Has any lawmaker reading this ever experienced trying to help a loved one with an addiction? Obviously not because we legalize Sunday alcohol sales (last session) over hemp flower (latest session) which has absolutely zero addictive properties but hundreds, maybe thousands of beneficial health properties. Get your head in the right place, lawmakers!! You work for the people, not the other way around! Soon enough recreational cannabis will be flooding our state from the north and will have no choice but to legalize or lose billions of dollars in tax revenue. Wonder what we could do with that tax revenue? Let’s use Colorado as an example and put that money on our teachers paychecks, fixing the roads, funding our child protective programs, and creating state funded substance abuse programs. 5/8/2019 9:08 AM 28 Legalization of marijuana is a must. Get on board Indiana 5/8/2019 8:51 AM 29 Many Hoosiers such as myself desperately need access to medical cannabis, and we will move to another state to get it. 5/8/2019 8:26 AM 30 We need to reform cannabis laws in this state. We cannot keep living as if the cannabis plant does not benefit humans. I used to be in many different medications. I have personally known people that have benefited from using the plant in many different forms. The revenue for that one legalization will keep crime down. The other two just invite more in. Marijuana revenue would generate enough income to pay our teachers to educate our kids properly. I’ve personally watched them drop cases against a neglectful mother over & over again. We need to provide better care for them to properly do their job. To help them we need to address the drug epidemic in Indiana with REAL solutions to the probably. I see legalizing medical marijuana as a step toward that. Revenue can be used to fund better programs and give law enforcement more funds to crack down dealers/manufacturers vs users. Lastly, the roads. We keep being taxed to fix them but yet our infrastructure continues to crumble. I live in a rural part of the state & some of the roads I avoid because they’re so bad. It is shocking coming from an adjacent state just how behind the times Indiana is compared to its neighbors. The growth and prosperity of Indiana and Hoosiers is stunted by people who want to keep Indiana in the past, despite the rhetoric about moving toward the future. 5/7/2019 10:13 AM 75 It should be up to the local school boards to decide teacher pay and not the state. It is time to keep local issues local. 5/7/2019 6:36 AM 76 Crime is also a concern in Indianapolis 5/7/2019 6:34 AM 77 The poor conditions of our roads and bridges is primarily a states funding issue - not Mayor Joe's fault. The blame should fall at the feet of the Indiana General Assembly and the super-majority leaders, including especially Bosma and Merritt. They are both even from Indy, and still they've allowed the state to underfund Marion County's roads for years - its disgraceful. For Merritt to now blame the potholes on Joe is the biggest hypocritical move I've seen in politics for years. I find most of the Statehouse R's disgusting (save J. Ruckelshaus). Merritt's mayoral campaign is a joke. 5/6/2019 11:36 AM 78 Leadership lacking in the city government 5/6/2019 11:01 AM 79 I don't think caucus is the problem with the legislature I think the problem with lack of transparency stems from many committees moving to hearing a bill one week and then doing amend and vote only on it the second week and allowing no testimony on the amendments -- saw several times where the bill was completely or dramatically changed this session with no opportunity for public testimony. This is where the concern should lie. Also, with Republican supermajorities -- this legislature and Governor are too timid and not doing big, bold transformational changes. 5/6/2019 9:54 AM 80 There is a lot of Indiana "outside 465". 5/3/2019 9:48 AM 39 / 42 Take Our Informal Post Sine Die Poll
  • 40. 81 As we mourn the passing of a great leader and visionary former mayor, it is depressing to think how Indy is currently deteriorating under Mayor Hogsett. What's wrong? Let me count the ways: Violent crime, in particular, gun violence, is way up. Trash, litter and illegal dumping makes the city look awful. Response to pothole crisis has not been nearly enough. I have always been proud to bring guests downtown. Now, I am embarrassed. 5/2/2019 10:16 AM 82 Messmer is positioning for Brays job. It is my hope that the blowjob of a bill the gaming legislation was will be investigated. $100m to $5m with a 40m tax credit was ridiculous. Smh 5/1/2019 8:54 PM 83 Let's get the sportsbooks open! 5/1/2019 2:30 PM 84 Would give the Governor a grade higher than 'C', but he keeps moving the goal posts on issues (e.g. bias crimes), and is unwilling to use the "power" that comes with 206 to achieve goals initially set at the start of session. 5/1/2019 1:52 PM 85 Consolidation of the 3 remaining Township Fire Departments should occur and also the elimination of Township Government in Marion County!! 5/1/2019 8:44 AM 86 This survey is brutally flawed. No reason not to have at least a top three agenda items. These lawmakers are professionals, whether anyone wants to admit that or not, and should be able to churn out more than one significant piece of legislation per session. The budget is always going to be most important, but there's no reason under the sun that gaming, teacher pay, and marijuana legislation should not have moved into this decade. And oh by the way, I was recently in Utah (yes, Utah), where I bought cold beer in a gas station. Sure, it by law had to be carried out in a bag, so as to not offend any paying Mormons (I guess?), but still, I bought cold beer. In a gas station. In Utah. Just let that sink in for a minute. 4/30/2019 9:52 PM 87 It is a joke to have called this a historic session for education - certainly not public education. Without holding virtual schools and charters accountable, it is a farce to have given them more money than traditional schools. 4/30/2019 9:07 PM 88 My biggest concern is the consistent and intentional weakening of public schools. While school choice sounds good and fair, it is not worth the funds it takes away from public education. Public schools are the bedrock of our democracy. As a Republican with a minority opinion on school choice, I am frustrated at my party's stance. 4/30/2019 6:36 PM 89 Indiana needs to progress on some things like cannabis, gambling, and infrastructure spending.. I like how smart we are with the Budget but we could spend some or give it back to the tax payer 4/30/2019 2:00 PM 90 Veterans issues were not addressed adequately in this year's GA. 4/30/2019 12:34 PM 91 Stop giving away corporate tax incentives, negotiate better health care insurance rates, and support the middle working class, NOT the top 1% and corporate interests. STOP coddling fossil fuel cos.! Get on board the alternative energy train. And speaking of train, the STATE needs to be better connected. Why not hi-speed light rail to Chicago, Ft. Wayne, South Bend, Evansville, Lafayette? 4/30/2019 12:28 PM 92 I’m a Jim Merritt fan 4/30/2019 10:36 AM 93 Although I do not live in Indianapolis it is the driver for the success of our surrounding counties. Roads and homelessness/panhandlers are both serious that need to be addressed for us to continue to be a region that attracts businesses, jobs, conventions and tourism 4/30/2019 9:47 AM 94 Cant really say the country is on the right track, when congress will not do any, ANY work. The dems have been a joke and Paul Ryan a roadblock. A shameful sight. 4/30/2019 9:38 AM 95 We live in a sad time so many hurting so many abused so many Raped and molested un-reported among us. Rape kits shelved. Attorney General That is a Disappointment to His Race Gender profession. 4/30/2019 9:13 AM 96 Indiana Republicans need a populist wave. 4/30/2019 8:53 AM 97 Joe Hogsett is a politician not an CEO. I would vote for a democrat if they had experience running a successful organization. I am concerned that Jim Merritt does not have those skills either. Roads suck, permits and compliance suck, homeless solution is a joke, city council is camp runamok. 4/30/2019 8:39 AM 98 On question 19, re: most important question facing Indianapolis, I answered roads, but I also think that crime is right up there at the top with roads. 4/30/2019 8:39 AM 99 We need more “Lugarers” and less “Trumpers” in government. 4/30/2019 8:19 AM 40 / 42 Take Our Informal Post Sine Die Poll
  • 41. 100 The Indiana GOP needs to do more to curtail the devastation President Trump us doing. The Indiana Dems need to get it together, have candidates in EVERY county & get things done! Holcomb is ok, better than Pence. He needs to give DWD more $ & more help though. 4/30/2019 7:45 AM 101 Holcomb should have used some political capital to put the screws on a real hate crimes bill. 4/30/2019 7:38 AM 102 Some state employees pay ie entry level secretary is a joke. Job banks show a starting pay of around $18,500 for full time work! Way to set the bar for pay. 4/30/2019 7:36 AM 103 It was a bit absurd how little the Senate seemed to do this year. Almost no major bill came from the Senate and, if they did, they had to be fixed by the House. 4/29/2019 8:04 AM 104 State budget writers are saying local communities will need to fund their prioroties. Urban school districts and rural school districts are in need of school funding to compete for talent in higher paying easier classrooms in the suburbs. Huston is playing politics for his own constituency when he says he is unaware how teaching a child in poverty is more costly than a child not in poverty. Zionsville increased 350 per pupil and IPS increaased 230 per pupil. Similar story for Carmel and HSE. Equitable funding is needed based on need, not equal funding. 4/28/2019 2:10 PM 105 The Indiana legislature continues to move Indiana backwards catering to the most extreme wing of the Republican party which is not representative of the state as a whole. Governor Holcomb has been ineffectual in terms of being a moderating influence. 4/28/2019 12:40 PM 106 Term limits please and redraw the district lines 4/28/2019 11:07 AM 107 Question 6 is poorly conceived because it conflates the House and Senate. I give the Senate an F and the House an A. 4/28/2019 10:31 AM 108 We shouldn’t have a $2 billion surplus when everyday needs aren’t being met 4/28/2019 9:58 AM 109 I am so sad for our country. 4/28/2019 9:15 AM 110 Roads & Infrastructure, Economic Development & Jobs — these are two sides of the same coin. The most important investments we can make are structural, upstream shifts that promote growth, inclusion, and investment downstream. Bias crimes legislation, investment in opportunity and skills development for all, maintaining and prioritizing infrastructure, and attracting top tier firms and talent — these are the upstream priorities. 4/28/2019 9:07 AM 111 The one simple thing I always go back to show how corrupt our local government is cold beer. They are in the pockets of the liquor store association and they won’t pass it or they will lose their meal ticket. Republicans are supposed to support the free market right? What a joke they are and they think we don’t see it! 4/28/2019 9:03 AM 112 80% of Hoosiers support medical marijuana. A terminal patient can not access it under RTT even though it’s a legal med in 3 surrounding states that passed phase I safety trials in US. My prediction is Kirchofer (won by only 200 votes) will lose reelection. Bosma and Holcomb as well. Indiana is failing to listen to Hoosiers and there will be repercussions. 4/28/2019 8:47 AM 113 It’s hard to say we have a fiscally conservative Governor and legislature when they raise taxes and fees each session. 4/28/2019 8:33 AM 114 We need a regional approach to our opportunities and problems. 4/28/2019 8:21 AM 115 Dipping into the “sequestered ‘Gas Tax for Roads’” has rightfully angered Rs. Pure BS. 4/28/2019 8:16 AM 116 You ugly. You your daddy’s son. 4/28/2019 8:15 AM 117 visit schools to see what teachers really deal with 4/28/2019 8:13 AM 118 Another year, another bunch of people thrown in jail for victimless crimes. Every day citizens are extorted for their hard earned money over minor infractions while simultaneously having their paychecks stolen from to pay for lackluster services that fail at every point. We started a war and fought for our independence 200+ years ago over a 3% tax rate and now people are happy to pay almost 40% directly from their paychecks. The founding fathers are turning in their graves. 4/28/2019 8:07 AM 119 City - taking guns from law abiding citizens will not lower the crime rate. Indy more murders per Capital than any other city in the country is embarrassing and the streets are pitiful. Fix them right the first time! State level- stop raising taxes!!!! When will you make electric car drivers help pay their fair share of the road tax the rest of us who drive gas cars pay at the pump? Federal - House where is the budget, Senate - where is the leadership and WH - build the wall! 4/28/2019 8:04 AM 120 Zach Adamson is a bigot 4/28/2019 7:55 AM 41 / 42 Take Our Informal Post Sine Die Poll
  • 42. 121 Pathetic session. GOP obsession with surplus is disgusting. I want my taxes to pay for things that benefit all Hoosiers. Holcomb is weak. Caved on bias crimes. Gaming ties of Bosma and Holcomb disgusting. Indiana GOP is Pay to Play. Hopefully Curtis Hill stayed home on Sine Die 4/28/2019 7:53 AM 122 As a committed Republican, Holcomb had lost all my support primarily due to his stance on the Bias Crimes legislation and his position on marijuana. He needs to go! 4/28/2019 7:53 AM 123 Your poll is too simplistic 4/28/2019 7:52 AM 124 If you fix the economic issue, most of the rest fix themselves. The roads repair is a ball dropped by both Hogsett and Holcolm 4/28/2019 7:49 AM 125 . 4/28/2019 7:49 AM 126 Roads and infrastructure are major concerns. 4/28/2019 7:43 AM 42 / 42 Take Our Informal Post Sine Die Poll
