Tom’s Job
Tom works at a bank. He is the manager. He starts
work every day at 8:00 am. He finishes work every day
at 6:00 pm. He lives very close to the bank. He walks to
work every day. His brother and sister also work at the
bank. But, they do not live close to the bank. They drive
cars to work. They start work at 9:00 am. In the bank,
Tom is the boss. He helps all the workers and tells
them what to do. He likes his job. He is also very good
at his job. Many customers like Tom, and they say hello
to him when they come to the bank. Tom likes to talk
to the customers and make them feel happy. Tom
really likes his job.

  1. Kegunaan Simple Present Tense Simple Present Tense memiliki beberapa kegunaan, di antaranya:   1. Untuk menyatakan kebenaran mutlak Kebenaran mutlak maksudnya adalah kebenaran yang nggak bisa dibantah. Contohnya, matahari terbit dari arah timur. Pernyataan itu termasuk fakta, ya. Jadi, kalo kita ubah ke dalam bahasa Inggris, kita harus menggunakan Simple Present Tense. Matahari terbit dari arah timur. The sun rises in the east.   2. Menyatakan habit atau kebiasaan Habit atau kebiasaan adalah kegiatan yang dilakukan secara berulang-ulang. Misalnya, kebiasaan kamu bangun tidur, kebiasaan pergi ke sekolah, kebiasaan makan siang, dan lain sebagainya. Contohnya, Saya selalu pergi ke sekolah pada pukul enam pagi. I always go to school at six o'clock in the morning.   3. Untuk memberikan perintah atau petunjuk Nah, Simple Present Tense juga bisa digunakan untuk memberikan perintah atau petunjuk. Misalnya, petunjuk cara memasak mi instan, petunjuk cara membuat kopi, petunjuk penggunaan suatu alat, dan masih banyak lagi. Contohnya, Potong lemon menjadi 2 dan peras jusnya ke dalam cangkir. Slice a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a cup.   4. Untuk menyatakan jadwal yang sudah pasti Selanjutnya, Simple Present Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan jadwal yang sudah pasti. Hal ini ditandai dengan kata keterangan waktu. Contohnya, Besok pagi, Hani pergi ke Ancol bersama teman-temannya. Tomorrow morning, Hani goes to Ancol with her friends.
  2. Akhiran -es digunakan untuk kata kerja yang berakhiran huruf -h, -s, -z, dan -x. Contoh kalimatnya, A bee buzzes around flowers. A mixer mixes eggs, flour, and sugar together. Sedangkan untuk kata kerja lain yang memiliki akhiran huruf selain yang sudah disebutkan di atas, silahkan tambahkan imbuhan -s. Misalnya, Dolphin uses whistle sound to communicate with others.
