In 2016 is it no longer a question if IF your business will use video but WHEN. The numbers for video marketing are huge. It can be hard to know where and how to get started; here is a little guide.
2. Video’s Growth Has
Been Explosive!
It is no longer a matter of IF your business will use video but
WHEN.
Cisco has predicted that ⅔ of the world’s mobile data traffic
will be video this year and by 2019, 70% of all internet traffic
will be video.
How do you get started? You know you need to use video,
your competition is using video, and you are feeling the heat
but what do you do?
It is as simple as who, what, when, where, why and how.
Ready to get started? Let’s go!
3. Who.
Target Audience.
Who is your Target audience. This is crucial. Who do you want to see
your video?
•Is it for internal use? We’ve shot videos to be shown at an investors
meeting located in Europe.
•External Use? We filmed an entire office building that was newly
refurbished as part of a new tenant outreach.
Is it for your existing clients or to get new clients?
Perhaps you have a new product or new facility?
Happy client testimonials?
A house to sell?
Answering the question “who you want to see your video “ should be
the first step taken.
4. What.
Subject Matter.
What will be the Subject Matter of your video? What is your
vision? Do you have a vision? If you need help articulating it,
your videographer’s creative team (like ours) can help.
Will the video include people, i.e., an interview of the CEO or a
client testimonial?
Will it be to showcase a new product or new location?
Will it be a residential or commercial real estate listing?
A before, during and after of a construction or remodeling
project?
A video about the company culture?
Or something entirely different?
5. When
Video production requires time for proper planning and
execution.
Don’t just think the film crew will be there for an hour or so
one morning and then be done. Chances are it will take longer.
Maybe all day. Maybe a few days, it all depends on what is
being shot.
Pre-production planning is as important as the actual filming
itself. Your professional video company will want to meet with
you to discuss everything about your video this includes the
subject matter, the location, who will be in it and the like. Will
a script be needed? A professional voice-over artist?
6. Where
Where will the filming take place?
Where do we need to go? Will we need to travel or will we be
staying local?
Will we be filming your new corporate offices here in L.A. or all
of your retail stores in North America?
Are we filming at a retail store or showroom, manufacturing
plant, job site or building site, real estate listing, at your
clients’ or someplace else. If we are shooting at a location you
do not own, filming releases may be required.
7. Why.
Why is the video being made? There needs to be a specific
goal.
Not just ‘to get more business’, but the specific goal. For
example, to increase yearly sales by 10%? To gain 25 new
clients or customers by the end of the year?
Video for business is an investment in your company’s future,
and its production is as important as any other project your
company does; it’s not just having something filmed and then
hoping it will get seen.
It requires a plan of action to get your video in front of as
many viewers as possible. A lot of businesses miss this very
crucial step.
8. How
Image is Everything
How do you want your finished video to look?
If you have made the decision to have a video produced, and
you are hiring professionals to shoot it, you probably want it
to look as good as possible.
We live in an image driven world. How important is image in
your industry? If your video goes viral, what do you want
people to think about you/your company when it is viewed?
Professional or amateurish? Your video has to look its best

The single most important strategy in content marketing today is
