CONCLUSION
• In Indonesia, social media plays very important roles for public; more over
social media is at the top most reason why they use the Internet.
• Public uses all social media platforms, especially YouTube, Facebook, and
Instagram.
• Twitter is not the most used platform, but plays very important role in
shaping public opinion, especially by cyber troops.
• Disinformation is a serious issue in Indonesia; we have a multi-stakeholder
effort to handle it, by civil society, media, government, and representatives
of several social media platform (Facebook/Meta, Twitter, Google..).
• Indonesia has an electronic transaction law (UU ITE) that often used to
report defamation, hate speech, disinformation to the police. However,
this law is criticized as being used mostly by those who have power
against the powerless.
