“A weakness is an activity that
saps our energy – it weakens us
even if we are good at it”
So therefore a strength

recognise this? Start to look
out for the SIGNs
Success – when you do the activity
and feel effective, in control
Instinct – before you do it you
eagerly anticipate it
Growth – personally inquisitive,
focused & a loss of time
Needs – a sense of fulfilment

  • 8. So therefore a strength is..... Something that strengthens us – gives us energy. How do we recognise this? Start to look out for the SIGNs Success – when you do the activity and feel effective, in control Instinct – before you do it you eagerly anticipate it Growth – personally inquisitive, focused & a loss of time Needs – a sense of fulfilment
  • 9. YOU CAN’T TURN A WEAKNESS INTO A STRENGTH But You can STOP the weakness from dragging you down.  Stop doing it – does anyone care?  Team up –find people who compensate  Offer up – crowd out weakness by strength  Perceive – look at any weakness through the lens of your strength
  • 10. How does this relate to your business? Know your strengths Get empowered Know your differentiation Build it into your narrative Look at the support mechanisms in your business Value what you do well and do more of it
  • 11. Strengths What do you excel at? What activities give you and your business energy? What are your proud of? What do you do better than anyone else? What positive things can you say about the way you approach change? What resources can you call upon? Who benefits because you are here? How do your services / products meet customer demand? What data should you collect that you currently don’t? Why does change never stick? Who suffers because you are here? What goals did you not achieve? What weaknesses can I reframe as strength?
  • 13. SWOT for your Business Opportunities What areas in your business offer the greatest areas of growth? What are your competitors focused on? What strength can you do more of? How can you bolster resources? How can you overcome the hurdles you face? How can you improve stakeholder engagement? How can you augment your services to increase value? What is happening in technology that could help improve the business? How could you better achieve the goals you set?
  • 14. SWOT for your Business Threats What is happening in the real world that could harm you? Where are you competitors doing better than you? How many clients are leaving the business? Are your stakeholders happy? What obstacles do you needs to address? What stakeholders are on the verge of leaving? How can I counter a drop in motivation?
