First day presentation

1. WELCOME BACK!!! SUMMER IS OVER. 

2. Taught middle school for 3 years. This is my 8th year at VRHS.  I am from Hollywood, Florida. I lived there until 1996. I have 3 kids. A 19 yr old son, a 16 yr old son, and an 8 yr old daughter. My favorite places are Disney World and the beach. All about Mrs. Stassie

4. I expect my students to be respectful to me and their classmates AT ALL TIMES. I expect my students to be prepared every day. Have your notebooks, textbooks, etc. I expect my students to ASK me for help if they need it. I am really nice and honestly do care about you and your learning, so PLEASE ask me if you need help. I will be at school until 5 most days, so come after school if you need help or to complete make up work/tests. My Expectations:

5. You’ve been in school for 12-13 years now, so you know the basic rules (I hope).  There are NO food or drinks allowed, except for bottled water. TARDIES will not be tolerated, we have too little time to cover too much material. 1st tardy- warning 2nd tardy- after school detention 3rd tardy- parent contact 4th tardy- write up SHENANIGANS- I like to laugh and have fun but we have a lot of work to do. We will have some good times, trust me.  TALKING OUT- This is a pet peeve of mine. When I, or anyone really, is talking, it is inappropriate for you to shout out or talk. I find that to be very rude.  CLASS RULES

6. This is a REQUIRED class that you must pass to graduate, this is the LAW. There is an EOCT that counts for 20% of your grade. You NEED to take some responsibility and prepare for this test. I WILL prepare you for this test but you need to meet me half way and do the work. It is imperative that you keep your average at AT LEAST a 75 to ensure you will pass this class. You need a three-prong paper or plastic folder. THIS IS A REQUIREMENT. No three ring binders will be permitted. ECONOMICS

7. Read your notebook guidelines that I gave you with your syllabus. The FIRST page must be the Table of Contents. I will keep a running TOC on the board and on my webpage. VOCABULARY: Each chapter begins with the vocabulary. You MUST do the vocab. for each chapter I assign. It may NOT be typed (sorry, too many cheaters) WORK: This will go in the notebook behind the vocabulary for that chapter. Again, just refer to the TOC if you get confused. (or ASK) The NOTEBOOK

8. I will collect notebooks before tests. If you are missing any work still turn in your notebook and I will note it on your TOC. When you turn in your notebook the next time, if you completed your missing work put a note/star next to it on the TOC so I know to check it and give you credit. PLEASE do not mess up your notebook. If you don’t turn it in you end up with zeros on each chapter I was grading. People have failed and not graduated because they didn’t do their notebooks. Notebook

9. Make up work: If you are out, look at the board for your make up work. Also, look at my class web page (found by my name at VRHS’s school web site). Check with a class mate. Make up tests will be taken within three days (or so) of the test. This can be done before school, after school or some time during school. Miscellaneous items
