- PoS Systems – Retail stores and even airline cashless cabins are building LOB apps so that CSRs can help customers through their entire buying and checkout process without leaving the customer’s side. These partners were looking to run their systems on different form factor and wanted to ensure that the app does not consume huge resources so that the device has extended battery life without the need to plug in.Catalog Management – Partners across different sectors are looking to provide a more interactive selling process by providing access to sales and marketing material to field sales employees via broadband connections on a tablet device. Touch first, immersive and fast and fluid nature of the metro style apps is perceived as more intimate that can provide a more advanced, yet personable experience with the customers.Dashboards – To improve productivity partners are building LOB apps with rich reporting and charting capabilities that can be used for consuming vast amounts of data and acting quickly on it. Live tiles, notifications, search and share capabilities of metro style apps are immensely useful to these executives so they get updates in real time and act upon it.Workflow Management – Examples here are manufacturing company using it for assembly line supervision or construction company using it for inspection and coordination of various construction activities. Monitoring and Action: We have an auto company whose racing division is using a metro style app so that pit crew can monitor and configure the car characteristics for optimum performance. We also have a Oil and natural Gas company which is building a metro style app to run various simulations, read the outputs and decide on the drilling processes. Security, performance and touch first experience of the metro style apps were particularly important to these partners.
