2. Since the outbreak of the ongoing pandemic (COVID-19),
many have speculated and questioned as to when shall
we see an end to the ongoing situations.
As media reports worldwide show a rise of the effects of
the virus, many medical experts expect this to last for 3
to 6 months until a cure is found.
Famous broadcastings such as BBC constantly address
the issue of the duration of this pandemic. To minimize
this many have taken measures such as ‘Social
Distancing’
3. We have heard this being mentioned quite often in the past few days.
But what is ‘Social Distancing’ and how does in play a roll in business?
Social Distance; is the act of keeping a safe distance so that the virus cannot be passed
on from one to another in any possible means. For companies & educational institutes this
meant carrying out operations from a safe distance, and seems to be the new norm in
today’s society.
As this took a toll on everyone, businesses had to find a way to continue its activities; thus
everyone adapted to a ‘Work From Home & Online conferencing’ culture.

4. Sri Lanka has a good standing
Recently the Sri Lankan Health
department was commended as one of

standing in its operations. This move has
paved way for various developments in
the Digital arm of Sri Lanka.
6. The rise of Digital Services
While everyone subjected to quarantine at home, the inability to go outside and meet-up
with peers and restrictions to visit supermarkets puts everyone in a tight spot.
As Sri Lanka faces a curfew this increases the restrictions to head-out for any need; be it
food, medical or sanitary.
7. In many of the countries hit hardest by
the virus, total messaging has increased
more than 50% over the last month.
Similarly, in places hit hardest by the
virus, voice and video calling have more
than doubled on Messenger and
WhatsApp.

14. Across the country we have seen various businesses adapting and carrying out their
procedures while maintaining precautions to minimize the spread of the ongoing
pandemic.
As many have shifted to digital platforms and proceed with their daily tasks, we reach the
question of where do we stand on certain jobs/ duties that require the personnel to be
present such as a Sales pitch or an important meeting.
The answer to these concerns are clear, and have been in practice for the past few days.
Numerous companies have been practicing online conferencing to present themselves at
meetings and to pitch a sales idea.
Marketing Inconveniences
15. Spike of E-Commerce platforms in Sri Lanka
As everyone are now limited to
their homes, people have been
limited to the availability of meals
and various necessities.
To be of some relief, local
companies such as the images
presented; have initiated
operations on E-Commerce
platforms to help everyone to
easily obtain their necessities.
Orders & Deliveries are indeed
limited for safety precautions, yet
again the switch to a digital
solution has indefinitely made life
easier for many.
