Hawaii ships over 20,000 tons of trash per year, contributing to ocean pollution and threats to native species. The state already has an incinerator that processes 3000 tons of waste daily, generating 8% of Oahu's energy. Building a larger, cleaner incinerator could reduce shipped waste and trash in oceans/beaches by processing more waste and generating energy.
