Shipping process to Mclane's and Walgreen's
The carrier takes the shipment to his terminal where the shipment is broken out and crossed-docked in to trailers heading to a
specific city and state. Within the trailers, pallets are cubed to get the most utilization. Sometimes pallets are broken down and/or
double-stacked to achieve the desired cube.
The trailer is taking to the delivering terminal where it's crossed-docked again into a trailer destined to our customer
(Mclane's/Walgreen's). Again to achieve maximum utilization, pallets are sometimes broken-down and/or double-stacked.
Depending on the size of the load and the agreement in place wit hour customer, the trailer is dropped and later unloaded sorted &
segregated by lumpers (hired help), or live unloaded, sorted & segregated by the driver or lumbers.
After sorting and segregating by either the driver or lumpers, our customer (Mclane's/Walgreen's) would then receive in the items
into their system notating any shortages, overages or damages.
Orders are pulled identifying what's on each layer until a pallet is completed and marked i.e. A, B, C, etc…
Each pallet marked has a "pallet packing list" indicating the items, the quantity of cases, and number of pallets within the shipment
Each shipment is staged and a carrier is identified for pick-up by placing a cone displaying the carriers name
During pick-up, the carrier is lead to his shipments where he/she PRO'ed, verifies the number pallets and number of cases per
shipment with the aid of the shipping clerk
