2. Indie is a short form of independence or independent this is because Indie music tends to be from independent record
label which do not have major corporate funding available to them.
Indie music branched off Alternative in the United Kingdom in the 1980’s and around the same time the word “Indie”
caught on and was used to describe punk and post-punk music that record labels produced.
Indie music was seen to be anti emo and to go against the alternative genre in which it came from.

5. Of Monsters and Men is a five member Indie/Folk band from Iceland which was formed in
2010.
The band members are:
• Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir – Lead Vocals
• Ragnar Þórhallsson – Lead Vocals
• Brynjar Leifsson – Lead Guitar and backing vocals
• Kristján Páll Kristjánsson – bass/acoustic guitar and backing vocals
• Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson - Drum and backing vocals
Of monsters and men have released two studio albums which are “My Head is an Animal”
and “Beneath the Skin”.

6. Andrew Hozier-Byrne is a Indie Rock Singer-songwriter from Bray Ireland. Hozier first caught
peoples eyes when he released the EP Take Me to Church in 2013 (also containing "Like Real
People Do", "Angel of Small Death and The Codeine Scene" and a live version of "Cherry Wine").
Hozier’s self-titled Album (Hozier) on the 19th of September 2014 which included five singles,
including Take Me to Church, Work Song, and From Eden, which were hits on his earlier Eps.

7. Imagine Dragons is an Indie rock/American Rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada. There are 4
member to this band which are the groups lead vocalist Dan Reynolds, Guitarist Wayne “Wing
Sermon”, Bass Ben Mckee and the drummer Daniel Platzman.
Imagine Dragons have two studio Albums out which are Night Visions and Smoke and Mirrors.
Their first album Night Visions is a more rock based album based on darker tones were as Smoke
and Mirrors seems to be a more Indie Pop album. Dan Reynolds said this is because he wants to
be different and keep his audience guessing, he doesn’t want people to expect a certain thing
from him, hence is new album which was fairly contrasting to his last album.
