2. INTRO-
DUCTION
Clan Jetties form part of the Penang Heritage
Trail. There used to be seven jetties until one
was demolished by fire and now six remain,
which are Ong, Lim, Chew, Tan, Lee, Yeoh and
Mix Clan Jetty. Billed as one of the last
bastions of old Chinese settlements on the
island, this waterfront society is home to
houses on stilts of various Chinese clans.
All the clan jetties are originated from Fujian,
China.

The entrance of each jetties are almost obscure due to the
smallness of the entry, dwafted by the scale of the built forms
within the inner Georgetown.
The clan jetties are located between the land sea, creates
a
perfect contrast which shows a surreal image of the site.
