This document provides a list of over 30 websites and online tools that can be used to create visual content and activities to engage learners. Some of the sites highlighted include Tagxedo for creating word clouds, Glogster for making online posters, Fotor and Ribbet for photo editing, and Toondoo and Writecomics for making comics and cartoons. The document encourages using visual content to introduce topics, have students describe images, play guessing games, and more to inspire learners visually.

Glogster is a highly visual interactive poster making tool. Here are example of some of the ones I have created to use with my students and for various projects

Create comics to encourage learners to use expressions about their weekend. They then create their own comics using vocabulary and talk about their weekend.Build up a collection of comics based around a theme, print them out. Put them up on walls for students to go round and discuss the questions, discussion points.

Dvolver is a simple movie animation tool. Encourage your learners to create animations to practise vocabulary, phrasal verbs and idioms – visually memorable and fun!
Padlet can be used in a very visual way. Set up a padlet for new words using picture prompts / photo editing tools

Take unusual photos around your city and invite story telling, speculation, vocabulary & grammar exploitation

You can also encourage learners to take photos of the changing seasons and use these as a writing prompt for poems, short essays, descriptions and so on.
Take images of unusual graffiti and invite learners to comment on them. Ask learners to take photos of any interesting graffiti they come across. Present their image(s) to class and discuss their thoughts. Encourage a writing activity.
