Transitioned from a one week assignment to a three month long-term position teaching freshmen

Coordinatorof Youth Ministry July 2007 – August 2014
Coordinated a program of Comprehensive Youth Ministry within the parish which includes
leadership training, retreats, service learning, peer ministry, bible study and weekly Youth Nights
which focus on infusing the gospel message into the life of young people.
Expanded Youth Night meetings from bi-monthly to weekly to create continuity in learning and
help build community within the group. Discussion, activities and prayer are based on the gospel
each week.
Re-envisioned the junior high religious education program by moving it out of the classroom setting
and utilizing an active learning model of Youth Ministry. Increased participation especially
following Confirmation. Junior high youth also attended the Archdiocesan Ignite retreat.
Launched bi-weekly after school bible study meetings to help students go deeper in their
understanding of scripture.
Coordinate and lead annual Winter Retreat. This two-day retreat is peer lead. Teens apply to be
leaders and are trained in small and large group facilitation as well as prayer leaders.
Designed and directed a Confirmation Retreat held in-house each year utilizing the teens trained
from Winter Retreat to plan and lead this one-day retreat for 8th
grade. Realized a cost savings while
providing leadership training and peer ministry.
Coordinate annual high school Mission Trip for service learning basedon Catholic Social Teaching.
Student participants are responsible for cooking and cleaning for the group in addition to the daily
construction work at the work sites. They also prepare and lead daily prayer services. The Mission
Trip Team must raise $8,000 each year to support this trip. Participation in the Mission Trip has
increased each year.
2. Developed a Kairos retreat for public school students utilizing the leadership training and
participation in ministry of our Catholic school students who have attended and lead Kairos. This
allows our public school teens to be trained as leaders for the next Kairos.
Organized a trip for teens and adults from the parish to attend the National Catholic Youth
Conference.
Initiated a summer service learning program for junior high. Summer of Service is a week-long
program which includes prayer,community service and fun social activities which has increasedthe
teen’s awareness of our Catholic call to serve one another and built unity within the parish.

Six years’ administrative experience with responsibility for coordinating the parish religious education
program for Pre-K through High School level.
Coordinated sacramental preparation for Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
Created and implemented a new sacramental preparation program for Confirmation at the 10th
grade
level. The program immersed the youth in the daily activities of parish life.
Created and implemented a Confirmation Retreat which utilized the leadership potential of the
previously confirmed high school youth in the Youth Ministry Program. This increased the
understanding of the confirmandi’s spiritual gifts and their call to be involved as active participants in
their faith life.
Developed a summer service program for junior high youth. Summer of Service (S.O.S.) was a three
week program that worked in collaboration with a neighboring parish.
Created a Lock-In retreat for junior high youth. This over-night retreat was planned and implemented
by the High School Youth Group. The retreat built community between the catholic school and public
school junior high and included prayer services, faith formation and organized free time.
Developed a Youth Group atthe high school level. This group met every weekfor faith formation, team
building and prayer. The Youth Group participated in Archdiocesan programs such as Youth
Connection (the youth served on Youth Commission), and Youth 2000. They attended the National
Catholic Youth Conference (N.C.Y.C) and were involved in service through our Appalachian Work
Camp Mission trip and monthly service projects.
