2. Basics Rules of Football…
Each team has 11 players on the field at one time.
For Offense they would be:
5 Linemen
1 Quarterback
1 Running Back
4 Eligible Receivers
The Quarterback lines up behind the Linemen
The Running Back lines up next to the Quarterback
3. Rules on Formations
- A Quick Reference -
There must be ATLEAST 7 players
on the Line of Scrimmage.
There must be Eligible Receivers
on BOTH sides of the formation.
4. Symbol Key:
Note: If an Eligible Receiver is next to a
Lineman, then they are a Tight End (TE)
5. This formation is called “Doubles Right”

Doubles -> 2 eligible receivers on each side, one being a TE
Right -> The Running Back (and TE) are on the right side.
6. This formation is called “Doubles Left”

Doubles -> 2 eligible receivers on each side, one being a TE
Left -> The Running Back (and TE) are on the left side.
7. This formation is called “Spread Right”

Spread -> 2 eligible receivers on each side
Right -> The Running Back is on the right side.
8. This formation is called “Spread Left”

Spread -> 2 eligible receivers on each side
Left -> The Running Back is on the left side.
9. This formation is called “Trio Right”

Trio -> 3 eligible receivers on one side, one on the other, one being a TE
Right -> The Running Back (and TE) are on the right side.

Left -> The Running Back (and TE) are on the left side.
11. This formation is called “Triple Right”

Triple -> 3 eligible receivers on one side, one on the other.
Right -> The Running Back is on the right side.
12. This formation is called “Triple Left”

Triple -> 3 eligible receivers on one side, one on the other.
Left -> The Running Back is on the right side.

Right -> The Running Back (and TE) are on the right side.
Over-> ALL the eligible receivers are OPPOSITE the TE.
14. This formation is called “Trio Left Over”

Left -> The Running Back (and TE) are on the left side.
Over-> ALL the eligible receivers are OPPOSITE the TE.
